A woman who turned 100 this year has revealed how she stays healthy and alert. Her routine reportedly includes going to the gym and enjoying her favorite treats, particularly ice cream and root beer, but always in moderation.
When asked about her best advice for living a long life, Mary Coroneos said, “Just keep moving, step carefully, and look where you’re going.” She keeps herself busy through a combination of activities, including working out and enjoying the pleasures of life.
General An Active Childhood
Coroneos grew up in a mining town. Despite her family having little money, she stayed active and found ways to have fun while helping her mother around the house. She recalled, “We were always doing things, hiking up in the woods, finding old artifacts.”
She remembered how her mother turned chores into playful challenges for her and her siblings. “It was a friendly competition,” she said, adding, “I won quite a bit, but I was the oldest, so I tried to give them a turn.”
General Athletic and Academic Pursuits
During high school, Coroneos was an athlete, playing volleyball and basketball. Academically, she graduated at 21 and later earned a master’s in education from Temple University. She taught full-time into her 70s and continued part-time until she was 90. To support her family, she also worked part-time at Dunkin’ Donuts while managing a full-time teaching job.
General Staying Strong at 100
Even at 100, Coroneos maintains her strength by hitting the gym regularly with personal trainers. She also emphasizes mental fitness and advised younger generations to keep their brains sharp alongside staying physically active.
