Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown plays an essential role in the Eagles’ offensive plans as quarterback Jalen Hurts looks for Brown downfield. So far in the 2025 NFL season, Brown has put up decent-but-not-great numbers.
Right now, the Eagles are concerned about Brown’s status going into a Sunday home game at Lincoln Financial Field against Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, and the New York Giants.

For the season, Brown has 29 catches for 395 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Other Eagles players receiving DNP status on Wednesday included Adoree Jackson, Cam Jurgens, Azeez Ojulari, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
In the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, Brown has a 76.6 WR Impact Score and grades out at a C. As for the Eagles’ offense, according to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, they have a 74.9 Offense Impact Score and grade out with a C.
The Eagles are 5-2 on the season entering their game with the Giants.
Initially, Brown was a second-round draft choice by the Tennessee Titans out of Mississippi in the 2019 NFL Draft. Brown played his first three seasons with the Titans before joining Philadelphia. In his seven-year NFL career, Brown has earned three Pro Bowl selections.
His best overall season was back in 2022 for the Eagles. Brown had 88 catches for 1,496 and 11 touchdowns. He followed that up in 2023 with 106 catches, but his yardage total was slightly less at 1,456 and seven touchdown receptions.
In 2022, 2023, and 2024, Brown earned second-team All-Pro honors for Philadelphia. The Eagles have also been able to balance out their offensive schemes thanks to the contributions of running back Saquon Barkley. This gives Hurts an additional offensive weapon when Brown might not be open downfield.
With Brown ailing right now, Philadelphia’s medical personnel will be watching his status closely throughout the rest of this week. Brown, whose nickname is “Swole Batman,” might have to call upon his superpowers to get himself ready to go.
Hurts can look for DeVonta Smith and Jahon Dotson to take up some of the slack at wide receiver if Brown is not able to get his hamstring injury cleared up. Besides Smith and Dotson, Philadelphia can also call upon John Metchie III and Xavier Gipson to provide contributions if necessary.
