Analyst’s Bold Bills Prediction Would Spell Doom For Steelers

Josh Allen is Superman. According to Maurice Jones-Drew, he’ll be saving the city of Buffalo – not Pittsburgh – tomorrow afternoon. NFL.com offered up its weekly slate of bold predictions for the week ahead, with Jones-Drew believing the Bills’ Allen will torch the Steelers’ defense.

Jones-Drew predicts Allen will have six total touchdowns against Pittsburgh.

“Allen and the Bills’ offense mightily struggled against the Texans last week. Allen didn’t log a touchdown for the first time since Week 2. He gets back on track this week by posting six total scores — for the second time in three games! — to lead Buffalo to a win over Pittsburgh.”

Allen is one of the NFL’s biggest threats with his arm or his legs. As Jones-Drew notes, achieving such a feat might feel impossible to most, but it is something Allen just did earlier this month. In a Week 11 shootout win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Allen threw for three touchdowns and ran for three more.

It marked the second time he’s done it in his career, first doing so in a 2024 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. A feat he’s pulled off more than every other player in combined NFL history. The only other player to do so was the Cleveland Browns’ Hall of Famer Otto Graham in the 1956 title game over the Detroit Lions.

Allen having such a game against Pittsburgh would virtually guarantee a loss. The Steelers’ offense simply isn’t capable of posting those kinds of points to match Allen score-for-score. Pittsburgh’s no stranger to Allen dominating them before. In a 2022 regular-season win, he threw for 424 yards and four passing touchdowns in a 38-3 rout. In the 2023 Wild Card game, Allen tossed three touchdowns while adding a highlight-reel 52-yard rushing score to send the Steelers home.

Despite that track record, there’s reason to believe Pittsburgh can hold Allen in check. Buffalo isn’t the standout team like in past years. Similar to the Steelers, the Bills have experienced highs and lows throughout the season and are coming off a 19-point performance in a loss to the Houston Texans, in which Allen was sacked eight times. Our scouting report noted the offensive line struggling to handle blitzes and stunts.

Allen has struggled on the road all season. At home, he has a quarterback rating of 115.9. On the road, it falls to 83.4. Buffalo has turned the ball over at a high clip this season, while Pittsburgh’s defense, at its best, has been opportunistic. Six turnovers, not touchdowns, is what the Steelers’ defense is aiming for. Because if Jones-Drew’s prediction comes true, Pittsburgh will fall to 6-6 and play a must-win game next weekend against the Baltimore Ravens.
