Anderson Silva scores brutal uppercut KO win
From the opening bell, ‘The Chosen One’ looked to try and put on the forward pressure, pushing ‘The Spider’ back against the ropes, cautious of Silva’s incredible counter striking.
Not long in, Woodley landed a big overhand right, but it was taken well by the 50-year-old Brazilian, and it didn’t seem to faze him.
Despite not being fazed by what was coming his way, Woodley continued to land heavily on Silva, who sparked into the round with just over a minute left, making it to the end of the round.
Again in round two it was Woodley who was dictating the pace of the fight and landing the first blows, but this time, it didn’t take Silva as long to work himself into the round as just under a minute in, he’d already landed a big uppercut to the American’s body.
Not long after, the former UFC middleweight champion went high with an uppercut, which landed flush on the chin of Woodley, dropping him to the ground.
Despite making it back up to his feet, the former UFC welterweight champion wobbled on his feet and the referee quickly stepped in and called a stop to the fight, under a minute into the second round.
What’s next for Anderson Silva?
Despite being 50 years old, it is clear that the Brazilian still has exceptional skills in combat sports, and there is a space for him to continue competing.
Prior to this fight, ‘The Spider’ was scheduled to take on longtime UFC rival Chris Weidman, but the fight was canceled due to an injury to Weidman.
With that, fans are hopeful that the fight is re-scheduled and the two UFC legend’s can finally settle their rivalry.
“Chris, I know you hurt your hand bro, I’m waiting for you to get better. Let’s show how ex-UFC fighters can do in boxing. I’m waiting for you, Chris,” he said.
