Andrew Tate returns to the ring after five years away on Saturday night when he makes his long-awaited boxing debut.
The four-time kickboxing world champion hasn’t competed since 2020, which was in itself years after his initial career as a top fighter came to an end. He has been eyeing a boxing fight since finding fame online, but had to spend years behind bars and under house arrest amid serious legal issues in Romania.
Now that he is in the clear legally and able to travel, he has immediately returned to his adopted home of Dubai. And as the new ‘boss’ of Misfits Boxing, he has booked himself against heavyweight champion Chase DeMoor.
Chase DeMoor is reality TV star who took up boxing in 2022
Andrew Tate is no stranger to the ring, and had actually been fully retired for years before Chase DeMoor ever laced up a pair of gloves. Back in 2022, the American swapped the football field for the boxing ring as he took on fellow reality star Cory Wharton on the undercard of Social Gloves 2.
His first professional bout took place two months later, when he infamously swung at air during a comically bad stoppage defeat to former MMA fighter and YouTuber Josh Brueckner. However, he stuck with the sport, and fought through a disastrous run of results.

Over the next year he lost three fights, albeit one of which was a disqualification for beating up his opponent whom he had already dropped multiple times and knocked out.
He was even suspended from Misfits Boxing after that fight with Stevie Knight, before earning his spot back by taking a last second exhibition with UFC veteran Alan Belcher. He was rewarded for that with a title shot at the Prime Card in 2023, which he lost to ‘Tempo Arts’.
DeMoor finally got his first win in January of 2024 when he decimated fellow influencer Malcolm Minikon, before mounting an impressive winning run. He has been around Central America when not fighting in Misfits, gaining experience and wins on the regional circuit.
However, all of this has played out while he maintains a career as a reality TV star. He first came to prominence on Netflix’s hit series Too Hot To Handle, before taking roles on a number of shows on the platform including Perfect Match and All Star Shore.
Chase DeMoor was filming ‘Love Island’ during prep for Andrew Tate fight
While he was able to negotiate the chance to train regularly with his team, Chase DeMoor didn’t give up on his TV ambitions while preparing for the fight of his life. He claims to have been filming a season of Love Island, which will air next year.
“They were very accommodating for me,” DeMoor told Bloody Elbow of the experience on a show otherwise known for being rigid with its contestant’s lack of contact with the outside world. “They woke me up before filming every day to train.
“They let me go out for runs, they made sure my diet was in check so shout out to them. I can’t wait for everyone to watch the show and find out what happened.”
And the key question, did he find love? “I guess that’s part of the surprise, isn’t it?” He quipped.
