Andy Ruiz Jr has told Jake Paul what he needs to do to emulate his famous knockout victory over Anthony Joshua.
Back in 2019, Joshua was brought to America for the first time by Eddie Hearn for a massive Madison Square Garden world heavyweight title defence. Unfortunately, it ended in disaster as the Brit got caught with a big shot after dropping Ruiz and was eventually knocked out.
Andy Ruiz Jr has told Jake Paul ‘don’t be scared’ of Anthony Joshua
Ruiz was the first man ever to defeat AJ back in 2019, can Jake Paul make lightning strike twice and pull off the greatest upset in boxing history?
Joshua has never returned to America for a fight, with his December 19 clash against Paul marking his first US bout since the first Ruiz meeting. He did ultimately manage to avenge that loss as he dominated and outpointed Ruiz a few months later in Saudi Arabia,

Jake Paul offered key Anthony Joshua KO advice by Andy Ruiz
In June of 2019, the boxing world was turned on its head by little-known contender Andy Ruiz Jr when he upset the odds to knock out the undefeated unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Plans were in place for the Brit to establish himself in America before eventually unifying against Deontay Wilder.
However, it all went wrong when Ruiz managed to catch Joshua behind the ear during a flurry of punches, taking him off his equilibrium. From there, the champion couldn’t recover and he was ultimately stopped viciously.
Joe Rogan can’t believe Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua is actually happening
Rogan’s opinion is widely shared in the combat community, with many feeling Paul is using this ‘fight’ for promotion before pulling out at the last minute. Do you think it’s actually going to happen on December 19?
While Ruiz was a much more established boxer than Jake Paul, he will likely be the inspiration for Paul who is the same height and looks to be comically mismatched against the 6’6 behemoth Joshua. And the former champion has spoken out, saying he’ll call the YouTuber to advise him on what to do to win.
“Just have faith, man,” Ruiz advised Paul during an interview with TMZ Sports. “Don’t be scared, and do what you got to do. Ask God for that victory and he will come through. Just be fearless, that’s what you’ve got to do and give it all you’ve got.”
Andy Ruiz Jr will contact Jake Paul ahead of Anthony Joshua fight
Paul believes that he will be the second coming of Ruiz, particularly given that Joshua’s chin has been weakened in other defeats to Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois. And Ruiz reckons he has what it takes to land a big right hand that can score the fifth knockdown of the Brit’s career.
“Get him with the right hand,” Ruiz continued. “That’s what Jake is looking for, the right hand. And if he lands he could do some good damage. A lot of people underestimate Jake Paul but in reality he’s a good fighter and he’s dedicated, that’s what I like about him.”
Asked if the pair had been in touch, he replied: “I haven’t but I’m going to hit him up and try to give him some little pointers.” Ruiz also confirmed that he has a plan to come back to the ring in April.
