The IG post read–“After an amazing ten-year career, Anthony Barr will officially retire from the NFL in just a few weeks.”

General Anthony Barr spent 10 NFL seasons–nine with Minnesota Vikings and only one with Dallas Cowboys

The Minnesota Vikings drafted the four-time Pro Bowler in the 2014 NFL Draft as their first-round, 9th overall pick. He earned a Pro Bowl four straight seasons playing for the Vikings in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Anthony Barr played for them till the 2021 season. The Dallas Cowboys signed him for the 2022 season as a free agent.

He was not re-signed for another season. In November 2023, the Vikings signed Barr to their practice squad. In December 2023, he entered their active roster. He played only four games for the Vikings. In the 2024 NFL season, he did not play even a single game. “Not a huge surprise to see (Anthony) Barr retiring after not playing last season. The four-time Pro Bowler had a highly productive career, mostly in Mike Zimmer’s defenses,” shared Dan Labbe, Cleveland Browns beat reporter.

On August 4, 2025, Barr announced his retirement through Instagram.
