Andhra Pradesh recorded a growth of 10.50 per cent in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in the first quarter of the current financial year, higher than the national average of 8.8 per cent. The industries sector registered the highest growth rate of 11.91 per cent, followed by the services sector with 10.70 per cent and the agricultural sector with 9.60 per cent.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the State should target a growth rate of 17.1 per cent for the full financial year.

Taking part in a review meeting on the GSDP in Amaravati on Tuesday, he said the State had a scope to achieve a growth rate of 25 per cent as it had an extensive coast and abundant natural resources. 

He asked officials to focus on growth in sectors such as transportation, insurance and real estate, which could further push the growth rate.

The agricultural sector recorded a growth rate of 6.65 per cent in livestock; fishing and aquaculture registered 14.52 per cent at ₹32,110 crore, meat production saw 8 per cent growth of 3.41 lakh tonnes. 

The Industries sector, including mining and quarrying, registered a revenue of ₹10,686 crore, showing a growth of 43.54 per cent. The manufacturing sector grew 9.93 per cent with an aggregate value of ₹40,515 crore, and construction sector grew by 9.57 per cent at ₹31,550 crore.

The services sector including trade, hotels, and restaurants registered a 17.92 per cent growth at ₹25,702 crore, real estate and professional services clocked 11.70 per cent growth at ₹ 34,324 crore.

The number of tourist arrivals increased to 8.07 crore from 6.89 crore in the same quarter last year. The number of air passengers also increased to 15.85 lakh in the quarter from 13.09  lakh in the comparable quarter last year, registering a growth of 21.1 per cent, a state government statement said here on Tuesday.
