Mumbai: The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has appointed Druid Sport as its exclusive commercial representative in the Indian subcontinent, TOI has learnt.The agreement will see Druid Sport manage and sell regional sponsorship rights for Argentina’s national teams, giving businesses across the Indian subcontinent direct access to the reigning FIFA world champions and their vast array of star players.

The collaboration comes just ahead of Argentina’s scheduled visit to Kerala next month for an international friendly, in the lead up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign. Next year’s showpiece event, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, is set to be global superstar Lionel Messi’s final World Cup appearance.

With more than 250 million fans in India alone, the subcontinent has emerged as one of the largest and most passionate Argentinian fan bases outside South America.

Both Argentinian greats, Messi and the late Diego Maradona, have experienced the warmth and love of the Indian public during previous visits to the country.Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, Druid Sport was also appointed by the AFA as its commercial representative in China earlier this year. “We know the passion that South Asian fans have for our team, and we are excited to strengthen this connection through our new partnership with Druid Sport,” said Claudio Tapia, AFA president.
