Welcome to ASTROBOTANICA
Space Goblin Studio has announced that their upcoming science-driven survival game, ASTROBOTANICA, has surpassed 50,000 wishlists on Steam. The milestone comes ahead of the game’s first public demo, which will be available during Steam Next Fest from October 13 to 20. This marks the first time players outside of the original Kickstarter community will be able to try the game, following the closed Alpha in June for 1,500 early backers.
Funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised £46,836, the game has grown with direct support from the survival gaming community. Over the summer, the development team focused on refining the experience based on player feedback, aiming to deliver a smoother, more immersive version for the upcoming demo. The studio has also confirmed full Steam Deck compatibility, making it possible to explore the game’s alien worlds on the go.
ASTROBOTANICA blends classic survival mechanics with an emphasis on scientific discovery. Players take on the role of Xel, an extraterrestrial explorer who must manage vital resources while navigating the mysteries of Prehistoric Earth. Instead of focusing solely on endurance, the game encourages curiosity, rewarding those who investigate their surroundings, conduct experiments, solve puzzles, and work alongside the Primal Humans they encounter.
The result is a survival adventure with a distinctive focus, blending exploration, research, and cooperation in a richly detailed world. With its mix of science, strategy, and narrative, ASTROBOTANICA aims to offer a different kind of challenge, one where understanding the environment can be as valuable as surviving it.
The public demo in October will give players their first real taste of this vision, setting the stage for the game’s journey toward full release.
