The Buffalo Bills are reportedly running it back with a veteran defensive back.

According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, Buffalo is in agreement to bring safety Jordan Poyer back to the Bills. According to both Diani Russini and Ian Rapoport, Poyer is expected to join the practice squad when the deal becomes official.

Poyer will be entering his 13th season in the NFL and now his eighth season with Buffalo. He was with the Bills from 2017-2023 before signing with the Miami Dolphins last season.

The best seasons of Poyer’s career came in his first stint with Buffalo, as he was a first team All-Pro in 2021 and was selected to his first ever Pro Bowl in 2022. Along with being extremely productive on the field, Poyer became one of the most beloved members by the infamous Bills Mafia.

Jordan Poyer wanted to return to Buffalo — with the opportunity to finish his career in the place he loves.

Poyer has become more of a tackle-first safety over the last two seasons, as he does not have an interception since he collected four during the 2022 season. He’s racked up 198 total tackles over the past two seasons, his most in a two-year span since 2020-2021.

As noted above, Poyer is expected to join Buffalo’s practice squad, and he will not be the only veteran player there. Jordan Phillips and Dane Jackson are also both expected to begin the season on the practice squad.

Phillips and Jackson both have experience playing in big-time games, meaning along with Poyer, they will bring an excellent leadership quality to the field every single day.
