The Philadelphia Eagles may have started the season 2-0, but Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams has been a different story.
At the center of it all is quarterback Jalen Hurts, who went through one of the roughest first halves of his career, and fans wasted no time piling on.

Terrible First Half for Jalen Hurts Versus Los Angeles Rams Sparks Online Chatter
After scoring on the first drive, the Eagles’ offense couldn’t find its footing. Hurts finished the first half with an almost unthinkable net passing total of -1 yard, thanks in part to two sacks that wiped away what little progress was made.
The entire offense managed only 28 yards on 22 plays. Four straight punts later, and it felt like nothing could get going.
The slow, shaky start did little to quiet concerns, as Hurts’s uncharacteristic start questioned many. The lone bright spot of the half came when Hurts powered into the end zone on a tush push on the first drive, but there was nothing after that.

Still, the numbers were jarring, and they immediately reopened the debate that’s followed Hurts since the offseason: Is he really one of the league’s elite quarterbacks? After all, he’s a Super Bowl MVP and has already taken the Eagles deep into the playoffs, but critics have always questioned whether his passing game matches up to the league’s best.
Social Media Blast Hurts in First Half Performance
Social media didn’t hold back. One fan posted, “Jalen Hurts has 20 passing yards man. I understand he’s shown up in the Super Bowls he’s played in, but the guy is not good.”

Another compared him to Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa, saying, “Jalen Hurts looks like Tua out there.”

Some takes were even harsher. “No troll, Jalen Hurts is a bottom 5 QB in the league. The fact that Philly fans try to sneak him in the top 10 is hilarious,” wrote one fan.

Hurts hasn’t given up yet, despite the barrage of insults. His resilience, which has characterized his early career, was on display when he led back-to-back crucial drives in the second half to reduce the Rams’ lead to 26-21.
It remains to be seen if that will quiet the skeptics, but for now, everyone is watching him attempt to disprove the “bottom-five QB” tag.
