The attack reportedly left him with ongoing intestinal complications, leading to at least six surgeries, the most recent being a 12-hour-long procedure in April. According to his son, Bolsonaro experienced severe hiccups, vomiting, and low blood pressure, prompting the urgent hospitalisation.

The court ruling found him guilty of undermining democratic institutions, sentencing him to 27 years in prison.
