NASCAR star Kyle Larson found himself in the middle of a social media frenzy, but not for reasons he’d like. As Max Verstappen stormed to victory on his GT3 debut, fans couldn’t resist taking playful shots at the American driver, comparing his recent struggles to Verstappen’s effortless dominance.
Why Fans Have Reignited the Kyle Larson-Max Verstappen Debate
On Saturday, Verstappen delivered yet another flawless performance, this time outside of Formula 1. The Dutchman, driving alongside Chris Lulham, claimed victory in the ninth round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS), an endurance race held on Nordschleife, one of the most challenging circuits in the world.
The pair piloted a Ferrari 296 GT3, wrapped in Verstappen.com x Red Bull colors and run by Emil Frey Racing. From the opening laps, Verstappen showcased the same ruthless efficiency and tire management that have defined his F1 dominance, steadily building a lead that left rivals in the dust.
Verstappen conquering another circuit is what first kicked off the social media storm. Soon after the win, a Red Bull Daily Updates account posted on X, “Max Verstappen leads the GT3 race by 43 seconds after Lap 10.”

A 43-second lead in just ten laps left fans in disbelief, and many couldn’t resist using the F1 driver’s dominance to take jabs at Larson, who has long been touted as one of the world’s most versatile drivers.
One fan voiced his thoughts on X, writing, “Kyle Larson isn’t even the best driver in his own series, bro is a joke.”

“Someone check to see if Kyle Larson is still piping up,” one fan joked on X, referencing past debates comparing the two stars.

Another replied sharply, “He has probably crashed into somebody or has spun.”

The roasting didn’t stop there. After Larson’s recent double-duty weekend, where he failed to finish both races, fans doubled down on the mockery.
“I think he’s pretty silent after that double duty double DNF,” another fan quipped.

And perhaps the harshest comment came from one racing fan who wrote, “Kyle Larson isn’t even the best driver in his own series, bro is a joke.”

Verstappen Leaves Larson and the Field Behind
While Larson has built a reputation for excelling across NASCAR, IndyCar, and dirt racing, Verstappen’s latest triumph reignited the debate about who truly stands atop motorsport’s all-rounder throne.
Larson’s fans have often cited his ability to jump between NASCAR ovals, dirt tracks, and open-wheel events as proof of his versatility. Verstappen, on the other hand, has built a reputation on pure dominance, crushing competition in every form he’s tried.
As the debate raged online, for now, Verstappen stands atop yet another discipline, while Larson finds himself on the wrong side of the jokes, once again.
