Broncos’ Pat Surtain II Makes Feelings Clear About Recent Injury and Return Timeline

It’s been a few days since Denver Broncos’ cornerback Pat Surtain II was injured. On the heels of multiple insider reports, Surtain II chimed in on his status on Wednesday while co-hosting his YouTube show, “Closed on Sundays with Pat and Terrion.”

Hearing What Pat Surtain II Had To Say

Co-hosting his YouTube show,  Surtain II said, “Unfortunately, though, your boy got hurt, man. Your boy got hurt. I mean, it comes with it. It comes with the game. How I look at it, life is 10% how you make it, bro. And the rest is up to you. So that 90%, I’m thinking, how can I get better from this? How can I learn from it? You know what I mean, I’m going to attack rehab.”

Surtain II added that it’s going to suck not being out on the field with the rest of the defense. He concluded, saying his injury was a minor setback and that he’ll get right.

Surtain II seemingly escaped injured reserve, which would sideline him for four games. Instead, he’s likely to miss the next two or three games, then the Broncos have a bye. One NFL insider had Surtain out 4-6 weeks, so that would put the CB at four weeks. In Week 13, the Broncos face off against the Washington Commanders.

For defensive coordinator Vance Joseph to keep up the Broncos’ fourth-highest blitz rate, the defense needs Surtain II, especially against the Commanders. Even if Riley Moss locks down Terry McLaurin, the Commanders can run pick routes to spring Samuel open from inside the slot. Escaping an injured reserve designation seemingly confirms we won’t have to watch that in Week 13.

Elsewhere on the injury front, Marvin Mims is in concussion protocol, while Nate Adkins is out with a knee injury. The Broncos signed veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis to their practice squad on Wednesday. It remains to be seen if the Broncos will add depth in their wide receiver room.

The Broncos ranked 9th in PFSN’s OFFi face off against the Houston Texans this week, then the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 10 on Thursday Night Football. It’d be a miracle if Surtain II made it back for the Broncos’ litmus test against the Chiefs in Week 11. However, one insider stated that the Broncos initially believed the cornerback would be out for 1-2 weeks. We’ll see.
