Entertainment After months of speculation, the long-rumored duet between the Blackpink star and Malik arrives Oct. 10. Jisoo and Zayn Malik. Photo Courtesy (left to right): YG Entertainment and Todd Owyoung, Getty Images. Blackpink’s Jisoo and Zayn Malik are making a new song together. On Wednesday, Oct. 8, Jisoo confirmed that she will team up with Malik on her upcoming single, “Eyes Closed,” scheduled to drop on Friday, Oct. 10. Both artists announced the track through Instagram, sharing an audio snippet and artwork captioned: “JISOO X ZAYN Digital Single ‘EYES CLOSED’.” The post quickly set off excitement across K-pop and One Direction fandoms. The project marks a milestone for both singers: it is Jisoo’s debut collaboration outside her solo and group work, while Malik steps into the K-pop arena for the first time.  According to About Music, the accompanying music video is reportedly being directed by UnderWonder Content, the team behind visuals for Jungkook’s “Standing Next to You” and Lady Gaga’s “Disease.” Hints of the pairing first surfaced when Jisoo began posting cryptic teasers featuring a shadowed male figure and captions like “Two Voices, One Orbit” and “A Duet is Near.”  Speculation intensified in July 2025 after Malik attended a Blackpink concert in New York with his daughter Khai and shared a photo from the show, thanking the group. Fans coined the portmanteau “Zaynsoo,” which later trended on X. Reaction online has framed the collaboration as a rare crossover moment, uniting Malik’s signature R&B-driven style with Jisoo’s melodic vocals. Some fans dubbed it the singer’s “K-pop era.”  “Eyes Closed” is slated for release on Oct. 10. Outside of the collaboration, both artists are pursuing major solo projects: Jisoo is currently on Blackpink’s Deadline Tour, while Malik will launch a Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live in January 2026. A screenshot of an alleged autopsy report has recently surfaced online, raising questions about China’s forensic investigation system. 2/7 Entertainment When was Yu Menglong autopsy conducted? According to the report, the autopsy was conducted by the Beijing Shengtang Forensic Appraisal Center, commissioned by the Jiatai Police Station in Chaoyang District. Everything We Learned at Music Matters 2025 in Singapore

Entertainment With panels sparking tough questions and nights spilling into showcases, the 20th edition showed how Asia is shaping the new rules of the game Courtesy of Music Matters Singapore’s skyline glowed under race-week lights as the 20th edition of All That Matters (Music Matters) roared to life. Over six days — starting Sept. 26, 2025, with Music Matters Live and running through Oct. 1 with the business conference — Hilton Orchard and Clarke Quay became a crossroads for culture, commerce, and ideas.  On the evening of Sep. 28, before the conference formally began, the Australian showcase, hosted by Sounds Australia, set the tone. Acts like Pania, Adrian Dzvuke and Egoism delivered breezy, confident sets under warm lighting. The crowd thinned and swelled as delegates began to mingle, scanning for familiar faces and discovering new voices. Inside the Hilton’s meeting rooms over the next three days, panels ranged from deep dives into AI’s role in songwriting to strategic debates about touring in Asia. But one undercurrent kept surfacing: the tension between scale and substance, between algorithm and art, between regional ecosystems and global metrics. India’s story had a center seat. During Indian Culture Matters, panelists Owen Roncon of BookMyShow, Mandar Thakur of Times Music, and I, along with our moderator Ed Peto of Virgin Music Group and Outdustry, explored what it means for India to straddle global ambition and local constraint. While audiences scale into the hundreds of millions, monetization — especially in streaming and concerts — still lags. Discussion veered toward how creators in India are increasingly discovered via short-form video platforms, and how diaspora audiences in Singapore, Malaysia, the Gulf, and beyond are creating bridges for touring and consumption that bypass the traditional West-inward lane. The conference also featured Kennel Matters as part of the Music Academy segment, a panel on songwriting and publishing that unpacked what it takes to move from creativity to global placements. Moderated by me, the session with Jon Chua and Johan Gustafsson of Kennel Music offered clear takeaways for young songwriters. One point they emphasised was deceptively simple: never send out a track you’re not personally happy with. If the creator isn’t convinced, it’s unlikely anyone else will be. External perspectives matter, but only after the writer feels confident the work represents their best effort. They also noted that demos need to be presented as close to finished as possible — toplines, hooks, and production polished enough that the song could stand on its own. Beyond the creative, both panellists underscored the importance of business literacy: knowing how to structure splits, protect rights, and follow through on opportunities. And, they added, relationships and trust are what sustain careers — people want to keep working with writers who show up consistently and deliver at a professional standard. Elsewhere, sessions about AI debated whether generative technology should be treated as a tool or a threat. Speakers pointed to real-world examples: labels are already using AI to clean up vocals and mix demos, while also raising concerns about platforms being flooded with AI-generated tracks with unclear ownership. Gaming, Music & the Metaverse revealed how in-game concerts and avatars are redefining touring for younger fans, citing Travis Scott’s Fortnite performance that drew over 12 million live participants as a benchmark, alongside experiments in Southeast Asia where local artists are building avatars into mobile gaming apps to extend their reach. On new models of collaborations, speakers spotlighted how companies across tech and fashion are shifting from simple sponsorships to deeper partnerships — Adidas was cited for co-creating campaigns with regional artists, while luxury houses like Louis Vuitton are increasingly tying capsule launches to music collaborations in Asia. Another key moment came with the launch of the Official Southeast Asia Charts and a refreshed Official Singapore Chart. Overseen by IFPI and built on streaming and digital download data from platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, the charts aim to formalize measurement across the region and amplify local voices. In Singapore, Regina Song, Benjamin Kheng, ALYPH, and Stefanie Sun were recognised for their top-selling local releases, underscoring how regional artists can hold their own alongside global names when visibility and tracking are in place. These big-picture conversations played out alongside hundreds of smaller, more personal exchanges in hallways, lounges, and breakout rooms. Delegates from across Asia, Europe, the Gulf, and North America swapped notes on touring, sync deals, and creator economies. In one meeting with a Southeast Asian executive, a language barrier almost derailed the flow — until the new AirPods Pro translation feature bridged the gap in real time. It was a small but telling moment: the tech of tomorrow is already shaping how global deals are brokered today. Evenings were reserved for industry mixers and Music Matters Live, where Clarke Quay pulsed with performances from more than 40 acts spanning Asia, Australia, and beyond. Highlights included James Reid from the Philippines, Psychic Fever from Japan, Go-Jo from Australia, and a strong Indian presence with artists like Frizzell D’Souza. Each showcase became a reminder that, beyond algorithms and strategies, live music is still the truest measure of connection. Now in its 20th year, Music Matters reinforced that the Asia-Pacific is no longer just an emerging region — it is a center of gravity for the global industry, and one the Western world can no longer afford to overlook. And in Singapore this year, India’s presence came through as one of the strongest voices in shaping the next chapter. Read More

Photo: Chris Anthony American guitar troubadour Tom Morello from rap metallers Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave will make his India debut this December. Morello will perform in Gurugram on Dec. 17 at HUDA Gymkhana, in Mumbai on Dec. 19 at MMRDA G-Txt Grounds and in Bengaluru on Dec. 21 at Phoenix Marketcity, Whitefield as part of Bandland on Tour, the new touring iteration of music festival Bandland. Tickets for the tour, co-produced by Tom Morello and BookMyShow Live, will go live at 5 PM IST on Oct. 8, 2025, exclusively on BookMyShow. Morello said in a statement, “India has always been on my map – a country with a passionate audience that has followed my music and message for years. To finally bring these songs to life on stage in India is incredibly special. Music is about connection, revolution and soul and I cannot wait to share that energy with fans in India this December.” The guitarist is best known for his work with American rap metal pioneers Rage Against The Machine, whose songs were heightened by Morello’s frenzied, unconventional solos. When RATM called time on their career in 2000, Morello along with drummer Brad Wilk and bassist Tim Commerford joined hands with Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell to create Audioslave, ruling the global airwaves with a couple of acclaimed albums. In the years since, RATM had reunited and after Cornell’s passing, Audioslave was permanently disbanded. Among supergroups, Morello was also part of Prophets of Rage with Wilk, Commerford, hip-hop act Cypress Hill’s B-Real and hip-hop veterans Public Enemy’s Chuck D and DJ Lord between 2016 and 2019. Morello took to protest folk music under the moniker The Nightwatchman in the early 2000s and began releasing solo music under his own name starting with 2018’s The Atlas Underground. Across three collaborative albums range from rock to metal to EDM and rap, featuring everyone from Bring Me The Horizon to Killer Mike and Big Boi, Eddie Vedder to Bruce Springsteen, Mike Posner and Idles. Most recentely, Morello has released singles like “Pretend You Remember Me” and collaborated with the likes of Japanese act Babymetal on “Metal!!” and Italian rock act Maneskin on “Gossip.” The tour adds to the growing number of international artists slated to perform in India this season, from hip-hop/pop artist Post Malone (who is also a Morello collaborator) heading to Guwahati in December, to guitar ace and singer-songwriter John Mayer playing a one-night-only show in Mumbai in January, and EDM artist Calvin Harris making his long-anticipated India debut with two shows in November. Ed Sheeran Teams Up With ‘Adolescence’ Director for ‘One Shot With Ed Sheeran’

Entertainment The Netflix special takes place in real time as the musician wanders across New York to interact with stunned fans and play classics from his song catalog Ed Sheeran in ‘One Shot With Ed Sheeran.’ Danny Clinch/Netflix Ed Sheeran has teamed up with Adolescence director Philip Barantini for the Netflix special One Shot With Ed Sheeran. The short film shows the singer walking through New York City in real time, playing his songs on subway cars and various spots around the city, and leaving a trail of stunned fans in his wake. It premieres Nov. 21 on Netflix. “From impromptu performances on bustling sidewalks and subway cars, to intimate interactions with fans and passersby,” reads a press release, “Ed Sheeran’s journey through New York will be captured in a series of unforgettable moments, highlighting the pandemonium and excitement that follows.” Philip Barantini made a name for himself creating masterful one-shot TV shows and movies. His 2021 breakthrough film Boiling Point takes place in the kitchen of a posh London restaurant on one very hectic evening. It was adapted into a 2023 limited series of the same name. Earlier this year, he joined up with Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham to create Adolescence. It’s the story of a 13-year-old boy arrested for the murder of a classmate. Like Boiling Point, the four episodes are all directed in a single continuous take where the tension never ends. “The device here is never less than astonishing,” wrote Rolling Stone‘s Alan Sepinwall, “and, for that matter, essential to why the show works as powerfully as it does.” It won eight Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Barantini won Best Directing For a Limited of Anthology Series or Movie. “To Netflix, thank you for trusting us with this mad idea,” he said in his speech. “Mom, I said I’d make you proud. And I’ll continue to make you do so.” Barantini’s previous one-shot works have utilized professional actors and were tightly scripted endeavors. One Shot With Ed Sheeran is the complete opposite since it takes place in the wilds of New York City without any formal script. But Sheeran does have some subway busking experience. Earlier this year, he went underground at the Rockefeller Center subway station with Jimmy Fallon to perform “Azizam” and Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club.” He was disguised at first, but it didn’t take long for a crowd to form. We’ll see what happens when he heads back out into the city with Barantini’s camera team trailing along. From Rolling Stone US. Read More

Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson Will Tour as Rush in 2026

Entertainment Drummer Anika Nilles, who previously played with Jeff Beck, will join Lee and Lifeson for a 50th-anniversary tour dedicated to the memory of the late Neil Peart “After all that has gone down since that last show,” Geddy Lee said, “Alex and I have done some serious soul searching and come to the decision that we fucking miss it.” Richard Sibbald Rush co-founders Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson will return to the road as Rush next year for a 50th-anniversary tour dedicated to the memory of their late bandmate Neil Peart, they announced today. German drum virtuoso Anika Nilles, who’s previously backed Jeff Beck, will join them for the 12-date, seven-city Fifty Something Tour, which kicks off June 7 at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum — the same venue where Rush played their last show with Peart in August 2015. “After all that has gone down since that last show, Alex and I have done some serious soul searching and come to the decision that we fucking miss it,” Lee said in a press release. “And that it’s time for a celebration of 50-something years of Rush music.” Lee and Lifeson, best friends since high school, spent the past few years in a friendly public debate about the prospect of touring again without Peart, their drummer and lyricist, who died in 2020 after a quiet battle with brain cancer. Lee told Rolling Stone that he’d been working to persuade Lifeson to go out, and even Paul McCartney had told the duo that they needed to tour again. As recently as last May, Lifeson was still resistant, at least in public, telling Rolling Stone, “There’s no chance that we’re going to get a drummer and go back on the road as the rebirth of Rush or something like that.” Finding Nilles, a widely acclaimed 41-year-old drummer — who happens to be known for playing in the kind of odd time signatures that are Rush’s specialty  — to step into what may be the most intimidating open chair in all of rock may have made the difference. “As we all know, Neil was irreplaceable,” Lee said. “Yet life is full of surprises, and we’ve been introduced to another remarkable person; an incredible drummer and musician who is adding another chapter to our story while continuing her own fascinating musical journey. Her name is Anika Nilles, and we could not be more excited to introduce her to our loyal and dedicated Rush fan base, whom, we know, will give her every chance to live up to that near-impossible role.” Peart’s widow, Carrie Nuttall-Peart, and daughter Olivia fully endorsed the tour in a joint statement. “We are thrilled to support the Fifty Something Tour, celebrating a band whose music has resonated and inspired fans for generations, and to honor Neil’s extraordinary legacy as both a drummer and lyricist,” they said, adding that “Neil’s musicianship was singular” and “as both drummer and lyricist, he was irreplaceable.” In a novel move, Rush plan to add other backing musicians for the tour to “expand our sound a wee bit,” said Lee, who previously handled both keyboards and bass while singing. He had previously told Rolling Stone he was looking forward to that approach as a way to make touring “more fun, less work,” acknowledging “that we are a little bit older now.” Each show on the tour will feature two sets drawn from a pool of 35 songs, spanning the band’s greatest hits and fan favorites. The announcement comes alongside the release of Rush 50, a 50-track anthology spanning their entire career. Artist presales begin Oct. 13, with general on-sale starting Oct. 17.
