‘Intention Was Clear’: Rosé CROPPED from Paris Fashion Week photo sparks racism debate

Entertainment Read further to know how the internet reacted when Blackpink member Ros got edited out of a group photo from Paris Fashion Week. Blackpink’s Rosé, who attended the Saint Laurent Women’s 2026 S/S show at Paris Fashion Week as the brand’s global ambassador, has found herself at the center of an international controversy. Sitting front row with Hailey Bieber, Zoë Kravitz, and Charli XCX, Rosé was featured in original event images. But when ELLE UK shared the group photo on Instagram, she was cropped out entirely. Fans Call Out The Racism The edit immediately drew even more backlash, with fans accusing the magazine of racial bias. Many even highlighted the hypocrisy of a women’s lifestyle outlet excluding a high-profile Asian woman while promoting inclusivity and feminism, The Bipolar nature of the incident drew a lot of criticism. Comments flooded, asking, “Where is Rosé?” and criticizing the decision as disrespectful to one of the most influential global ambassadors in fashion. Magazine Issues Apology Amid mounting criticism, ELLE UK deleted the post and later uploaded a solo photo of Rosé, captioning her as having “the most standout look.” The outlet also issued an apology on Instagram Stories, claiming the crop was done “for size” and was not meant to offend. They added a promise to better represent their audience in the future. Internet Rejects the Issued Apology The apology failed to calm the backlash, instead it further increased it. Fans called it insincere, arguing it downplayed the seriousness of the issue. One user wrote, “It reads like, ‘We’re sorry we didn’t post the Asian you wanted to see,’ not ‘We’re sorry for being racist.’” Others described it as “BS” and said it made the audience seem “overly dramatic” rather than addressing systemic bias. Ongoing Backlash The controversy deepened when Hailey Bieber reposted Charli XCX’s content from October 1, where Rosé appeared noticeably darkened in the shared image. This has only fueled the ongoing further anger online, with fans demanding greater accountability and respect for Rosé, and by extension, Asian representation in global fashion media. Young Ill Is Carving Out His Own Lane in the Korean Hip-Hop Scene

Entertainment Choosing connection over controversy, Young Ill wants his music to give hope, inspire individuality, and show there’s more to Korean hip-hop than stereotypes A few days ago, while researching the Korean hip-hop scene, I discovered Park Dae-young, or Young Ill, as he’s known in the industry. Originally from Gumi, South Korea, Young Ill has been steadily building his career in Suwon since 2017, with a passion for hip-hop and rap that began at an early age. With one foot in the U.K.’s vibrant music scene and the other firmly planted in his Korean heritage, he seamlessly mixes genres like drum and bass, drill, and garage with Korean rap, creating a sound that’s both globally informed and distinctly Korean. I got in touch with him, eager to learn more about his story, and it turns out this talented South Korean hip-hop artist and producer has since established himself in the global rap community, now splitting his time between Seoul, Suwon, London, and Paris. Influenced by rappers like Drunken Tiger, Leessang, Eun Ji-won, and MC Sniper, Young Ill was inspired to pen his own lyrics right from the start. Initially, he was drawn to how music could convey his thoughts and emotions, particularly on subjects that were difficult to address openly. After completing his military service, he moved to Suwon to focus on music full-time, where he began learning music production. Young Ill recalls, “I wanted to be skilled in every aspect. Then, starting in 2022, I began receiving calls from Europe. I was contacted by the French producer Sonikem, which led me to travel to France, and around the same time, I connected with Jodie Jo from London’s Playhouse Entertainment, which brought me to the U.K. as well.” Young Ill admits that, though his biggest influence until then had been American hip-hop, he found himself strongly drawn to European hip-hop sounds and culture from 2022 onwards. “Today, I continue to move between Korea, Japan, France, and the U.K., creating, producing, and releasing music. Most recently, I took part as a rapper in Japan Expo 2025, one of the biggest festivals in France, and released my first LP album.” Following his 2018 mixtape Forever Young Ill, the artist officially debuted in 2019. He expanded his discography with several releases thereafter, including the EPs Drill Come T.R.U (2022) and Jet Lag 2024 (2024), as well as his new album, Scenario #01. As a producer, he found his own voice and style while drawing from Korean hip-hop’s cultural identity, something that has had quite an impact on his artistic expression. He attributes his growth to the high level of talent in Korean hip-hop, saying, “In my view, Korean hip-hop has many incredibly talented rappers. I have encountered diverse hip-hop scenes worldwide, but I believe the level of Korean beatmakers and rappers is truly high, and the overall quality is consistently strong. Because of this, I was able to elevate my own color and quality by working with great producers and rappers. This allowed me to freely mix spontaneous ideas and create unique work.” Photo: Courtesy of the artist. He further elaborates on what sets Korean hip-hop apart: “Korean hip-hop is distinguished by the use of the Korean language’s unique rhythm and rhyme to create original flows.” He highlights the effectiveness of the Hangul writing system, noting that it’s an extremely effective and scientific writing system that can express every possible sound, allowing for diverse linguistic transformations within lyrics. He also notes that Korean hip-hop is known for expressing a wide spectrum of emotions — love, social issues, and personal growth — in an honest and often dramatic way, which resonates deeply with listeners. “Beyond the music itself, Korean hip-hop is closely tied to K-pop, fashion, music videos, and social media, making it part of a wider pop-cultural experience. This combination has helped Korean hip-hop establish itself as a distinctive cultural movement with global appeal.” To that growing appeal, Young Ill brings his own. His sound is a mix of global influences and heavy beats. I ask if and how he incorporates traditional elements into his sound. “Regarding traditional sounds, I have worked a lot with my producer flexx,” he shares. “Generally, we combine East Asian samples with the drum sounds and bass from UK Drill — the style I enjoy — which makes the process easier.” He details, “This concept initially started with my French team, ‘Stardust Korea’ producer Sonikem, and Jodie Jo from the London company ‘Playhouse Entertainment.’ They strongly embraced their African roots and showed deep confidence and identity related to their cities and backgrounds. At that time, I felt that simply following other musicians made me feel fake, so I began to explore what roots and ideas I alone could create.” Photo: Courtesy of the artist. This shift towards authenticity is something Young Ill believes will continue to influence the future of Korean hip-hop. With the music industry in flux, he reflects on the journey of the genre — where trends rise and fall, new talent emerges, and the pressure to stay relevant has all shaped the industry. He turns to the impact of reality TV shows like Show Me The Money and how they’ve influenced the way artists approach their music. “In the past, the yearly show ‘Show Me The Money’ brought out many rappers. After Show Me The Money 11 ended and before 12 started, all rappers showed various ways to survive independently. Around that time, there was a split between musicians who followed a more popular melodic sound and those who stubbornly created mainstream or unique sounds true to their desires. Interestingly, during that moment, the rappers and listeners who loved hip-hop and rap for the pure passion rather than money or fame were the ones who survived the most.” Speaking more about carving out a niche in the industry, Young Il attributes his artistic growth to his music as a reflection of his true self, sharing his dreams, hopes, and passions to connect with his

Review Rundown: Anoushka Maskey, Tanmaya Bhatnagar, Treekam and More

Entertainment Our verdict on the latest from jazz act Derek & The Cats, violinist, vocalist and composer Apoorva Krishna, rock artist Adam Avil and Guwahati metallers Death On The Horizon, among others  Entertainment Tanmaya Bhatnagar – Phoolon Sa Dil EP Entertainment ★★★½ Since her 2021 EP Wherever I Go, I’d Like to Be All I Need , which was achingly beautiful like few other singer-songwriters, Tanmaya Bhatnagar has moved countries, started a family, and tried a few different sonic palettes as a pop artist with singles like “Kahaani” and “Kyun Hota Hai?” It all set her on a clear path towards a full Hindi EP that captures tender emotions and sounds, much like her biggest songs like “Kya Tum Naraaz Ho?” The hummable melodies of “Kinaare” recount Bhatnagar’s bright pop singles; “Noor” is half lullaby and half ode for her daughter, “Supriya” is a starry dedication to her mother, straight from the heart. Made with producers Dhruv Bhola and Amar Pandey, there’s a familiarity in the title track “Phoolon Sa Dil” in its swaying, atmospheric pop. It’s all heart, and we might bet “dil” is one of the most repeated words on this EP, but Bhatnagar uses it in different contexts — like the lo-fi-inspired, voice-sampled “Zindagi.” It feels like a cinematic song for a protagonist whose contented, beaming smile matches a sunny day. Bhatnagar takes us there and asks us to bask in that glow, even if just for a short while.  Entertainment Apoorva Krishna – Only Love is Real Entertainment ★★★★ There’s no question about violinist-composer and vocalist Apoorva Krishna‘s credentials — she’s performed with the likes of John McLaughlin, been a part of stellar albums like Varijashree Venugopal’s Vari, and often walked the tight rope between Carnatic music, fusion, and jazz. Her new album Only Love Is Real brings in more collaborators and wanders further (inwards, outwards, and onwards) compared to her 2021 album Intuition. “White” brings pianist Aman Mahajan and percussionist Sunaad Anoor for a warm kind of reminiscence. There’s more jazz-fusion, like “Between The Lines.” It’s melancholic, comforting, and has five instrumentalists and vocalists (including Vijay Prakash), but doesn’t sound stuffed. It’s the same with “Merging Parallels,” a tribute to tabla legend Zakir Hussain, featuring the likes of Venugopal and guitarist Aleif Hamdan. Krishna’s composing approach seems such that she’s not out to prove she’s a virtuoso, but is more about serving an emotion. “Surrender,” with composer and multi-instrumentalist Michael League from Snarky Puppy, wordlessly echoes with Krishna’s vocals. “Sacred Roots” pairs Momin Khan’s sarangi with violin powerfully, while “Song of the Heart” has a comforting contribution from multi-instrumentalist Mia Garcia that makes Only Love Is Real a comforting yet versatile listen. Entertainment Adam Avil – Aura Entertainment ★★★  Mumbai’s seasoned rock star Adam Avil has been at it since the Nineties, even floating the rock band Pralay along the way. He’s slung riffs and ripped out guitar solos, but also tried funk and more bouncy glam rock. On his new album Aura, there’s a little bit of everything — the heavy prog of the title track that makes for a fiery opener, “Digging Full Swing” that has horns, and fast-paced funk on “Expresso.” While “How You Feeling Now” is kind of forgettable, the wild and free psychedelic energy of “Shine a Light” brings it back. “Unbroken” is short and isn’t too deep, but the final track, “Why,” does, in fact, bring that hard-earned, heartbroken wisdom to the front. It’s exactly the kind of songwriting you expect from a well-traveled rock artist like Avil, who clearly has a lot of experiences to mine. Entertainment Derek & The Cats – People to Meet, Places to See Entertainment ★★★½  Inspired by their time at home and away, Bengaluru act Derek & The Cats take us to different locales on their new album, People to Meet, Places to See. From the sunny “Cubbon Park” that evokes a day off soaking in sprawling greens, to the exhilarating “Jonty Patel,” a dedication to a friend, bandleader Derek Mathias and his bandmates expertly deploy jazz and funk across seven songs. “Ratna Mahal” brings scintillating slide guitar as a tribute to a place where they forged their bond. The groovy “Maya” features sitarist Varun Nimbolkar, adding an apt amount of mystique, with windchimes and piano that feel transportive. The playful pair of “Techno Police” and “Do You Play the Techno” are clearly born from questions they were posed, which they turned into sparkling, synth jams. The tender “Leticia” brings guitarist Blesswin Winco, allowing Derek & The Cats to prove they’re one tight unit, but there’s always room for more. In the context of Indian jazz, few can present a skill-packed yet emotive record like them.  Entertainment Raj – Weather Changes Moods EP Entertainment ★★★½  For those who may not be familiar with the blended style of jazz house, New Delhi producer Raj’s new EP Weather Changes Moods is a great primer. In just under 20 minutes, the guitarist-producer and composer brings together a calming yet buoyant new sound across seven tracks. Released via German label 55 Music, this EP is Raj’s way of moving beyond the lo-fi sound he’s been known for, while making comfort music you can turn to for focus and calm. “Fallin” is a quick but punchy opener with Hamburg DJ-producer Sven Wegner, while “It’s Happening” with saxophonist Maurice Sax and “Break The Ice” with Soul Food Horns put horns as a key element. The unshakeable rhythmic foundations of “Do It Alone”, along with a few samples, make it shine, while songs like “Don’t Know What Day It Is” and “Touch The Sun” sound like peak vacation-mode, hotel lobby core with its sparkling synths.  Entertainment Treekam – Treekam EP Entertainment ★★★½   In a worlds-collide kind of project, jazz-fusion act Treekam brings together Carnatic guitarist Abhay Nayampally, Nagaland’s guitar ace Arenlong Longkumer, acclaimed drummer J-Rod Sullivan, Sypro Gyra’s Tom Schuman, U.K. bassist Seb Read, producer-composer Sandeep Chowta, and producer/writer and seasoned music industry professional Arpito Gope. Add the Nagaland

The festival was eventually confirmed and brought in the likes of rapper Hanumankind, pop/electronic artist Ritviz, beatsmith Karan Kanchan and more. Get Indian Sneaker Festival 2025 tickets here. Taylor Swift Conquers Her Biggest Stage Ever on ‘The Life of a Showgirl’

Entertainment On her twelfth studio album, Swift hits all her marks — from new, exciting sonic turns to incisive storytelling Taylor Swift hits all her marks on ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ TAS Rights Management Taylor Swift has stood atop the pop world, glittering in a sequined midnight blue bodysuit with rainbow confetti falling at her feet. She has mesmerized stadiums packed with fans, whose screams and cheers registered on the Richter scale. She’s broken streaming and chart records she herself has set. She’s released a career’s worth of music in a span of five years. Nearly two decades into her career, spinning in her highest heels, she has reached a whole new artistic and personal peak, each time reaching higher and higher than her last. Just when the world thought Swift couldn’t climb any further, she did. Earlier this year, she bought back her masters, effectively owning everything that has ever been, well, hers. She also locked it down with a cowboy like her in football star Travis Kelce; the pair are now engaged and it’s like she has finally found her fairytale ending.  So there’s no imaginable way she could possibly get any bigger, right? Well, that’s where The Life of a Showgirl comes in. Only a sucker would think the curtain close of the Eras Tour marked the end of Swift’s almighty reign in the pop sphere. With her twelfth studio album, the musician shoots into a fresh echelon of superstardom — and hits all her marks.  From the first Fleetwood Mac-inspired drum roll and melancholy keys of “The Fate of Ophelia,” it’s clear Swift has stepped into uncharted territory. The world might know how Shakespeare’s Hamlet ends, and even how the latest chapter of Taylor’s own love story goes, but the tantalizing melody shaped by a wondrous mix of steel guitar and  Omnichord trills, makes you want to keep listening to find out just how Swift changed her prophecy.  Notably, the popstar chose not to work with longtime producer Jack Antonoff, and instead forged a reunion with studio genius Max Martin and Shellback. But their return isn’t just a callback to the grandiose synth-bangers of 1989 or warehouse-ready electric grit of reputation. Instead, the trio takes from all they’ve each learned in the eight years apart to chart a whole new path. Unsurprisingly, The Life of a Showgirl is a stark departure from last year’s deeply personal, prosaic, and tortured-as-hell The Tortured Poets Department. “There’s nothing I hate more than doing what I’ve always done,” Swift wrote in The Eras Tour book. Where TTPD was a greige and drawn-out in 31 songs, Showgirl is bursting with iridescent color and a tight 12. That’s all by mastermind design, of course. No one could’ve known that when Swift played her Martin-era masterpiece “New Romantics” during the final Eras Tour surprise-song set, it was an Easter Egg for the soundscape of this album. “You’re only as hot as your last hit baby,” Swift quips against the thunderous glamour of “Elizabeth Taylor.” With that in mind, the singer makes scorching sonic choices. “Actually Romantic” is built around a Nineties rock riff in the vein of Weezer. That edge she never had on TTPD’s “Clara Bow” — she’s got it here, and it makes lines like “it’s kind of making me wet” hit that much harder. It’s exactly the kind of song fans have been clamoring for since Swift brought out electric guitar versions of Red for 1989’s world tour. Meanwhile, “Father Figure” interpolates George Michael’s song of the same title. But those Prince-like snares are rounded out with a full string orchestra of Swedish musicians. The same ensemble is present in totally different capacities across Showgirl highlights like the title track and “CANCELLED!” The horn section on “Wood” saves the song, which would be a misstep on its gauche lyrics and thinly-veiled metaphors alone. “I want to be as proud of it as an album as I am of the Eras Tour, and for the same reasons,” Swift told Martin while they were in Sweden making the album. With its spotlight concept and showstopping production, Showgirl is the direct result of Swift’s all-encompassing career feat — and an extension of it. She hand-picks elements from all of her eras, just as she did on tour, and combines what works best. “Honey” is a sultry reclamation carried by both a Speak Now-style banjo and hip-hop beat from 1989, as a Midnights-eque Wurlitzer twinkles in the background. The glitzy sheen across these glitter gel pen songs doesn’t mean she’s skimping on her signature detailed storytelling. She is as hilarious as ever, comparing a foe to a “toy chihuahua,” and thanking the haters that call her “bad news.” She’s bolder than she has been, embodying a dick-slinging music mogul with eerie threats like, “You’ll be sleeping with the fishes before you know you’re drowning.” She’s even topping herself in the tortured corniness department — the “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” refresh “Wi$h Li$t” is littered with designer brand references, and even one abbreviated “Balenci.” As she reaches for new heights, Swift still provides glimpses behind the curtain at her guitar-stained vulnerabilities. On “Eldest Daughter,” Showgirl’s Track Five (usually Swift’s most devastating song on an album), she makes brutal admissions like “I have been afflicted by a terminal uniqueness/I’ve been dying just from trying to seem cool” and “When I said I don’t believe in marriage, that was a lie.”  But with every step Swift takes, she sheds those feelings of loss and despair. Showgirl is the castle she built out of all the bricks that have been thrown at her. She begged on her knees to change the prophecy, and the love she writes about here did just that. She lost her life’s work, but now the empire belongs to her. Everything you lose is a step you take. It’s a lesson she even offers her lover in the bridge of “Opalite” when she sings “failure brings you freedom.” For Showgirl’s curtain call, Swift is even beckoned by the freedom that could come if she gives up her crown one day. The closing track, notably the title track, prominently features none other than Swift’s understudy Sabrina Carpenter. The 26 year-old singer takes a full verse and even harmonizes with her idol for the sped-up, showtune-y bridge. It’s almost as if Swift is

Imtiaz Ali’s next film starts rolling on Dussehra? Sharvari drops subtle clue

Entertainment On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, actress Sharvari took to her social media handle to share a heartfelt glimpse into her festive celebrations. Unable to be home for Saraswati Pooja, the actress performed a small puja in her room with a film script, captioning the story, “Couldn’t be home for Saraswati Pooja today, so did my own little Pooja with the script in my room. Starting to shoot a very special film with a very special director and team.” Imtiaz Ali’s next film starts rolling on Dussehra? Sharvari drops subtle clue  The story, featuring a decorated script and festive flowers, has sparked speculation that Sharvari was hinting at her next big project — the Imtiaz Ali directorial announced earlier this year. While she did not reveal the film’s title or any names, the timing aligns with the upcoming project, which is set to go on floors in August 2025. Announced in June 2025, the film brings together a stellar ensemble of Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari. Slated for a Baisakhi 2026 release, the story is described as a contemporary, witty take on the complexities of love and human connection. Imtiaz Ali, who has long been celebrated for his emotionally layered storytelling, has teased that this project “has a big heart,” adding that it is “set on a large canvas, yet very personal.” Speaking about the film’s emotional depth, the filmmaker shared a thought-provoking reflection inspired by poet Momin: “Tum mere paas hote ho goya, jab koi doosra nahin hota. Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart?” The film also reunites one of Bollywood’s most iconic creative teams — Imtiaz Ali, composer A.R. Rahman, and lyricist Irshad Kamil — who have previously delivered timeless soundtracks in Rockstar, Highway, and Tamasha. Fans can expect another memorable album that complements the emotional resonance of the story. While Sharvari has yet to officially confirm if her Dussehra puja was indeed with Imtiaz Ali’s script, her post has only added to the growing excitement around the film. Alia Bhatt approves Varun Dhawan’s titles “Tricky with Singham” and “Stunts with Khiladi on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s Two Much: “He is marketing expert”

Entertainment The second episode of Amazon Prime Video’s Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle brought together longtime co-stars and friends Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Known for their effortless camaraderie both on and off screen, the duo added a lively spark to the episode with spontaneous quips and playful banter. Alia Bhatt approves Varun Dhawan’s titles “Tricky with Singham” and “Stunts with Khiladi on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s Two Much: “He is marketing expert” In a clip shared by Prime Video on social media, Varun was seen asking, “Is it tricky with Singham?”—a slip that immediately drew laughter from Kajol, Twinkle, and Alia, who responded in unison, “Tricky with Singham?” Kajol quickly quipped, “That’s not the title of our show,” while Varun laughed off his fumble. Alia, however, found the accidental title rather catchy. “It’s actually a very good title. Tricky With Singham. I like it,” she remarked, while Twinkle jokingly added, “She does gymnastics. Nothing is tricky for her.” Keeping the energy going, Varun turned to Twinkle with another idea: “Gymnastics would be for you. Stunts with Khiladi. Tricky with Singham and Stunts With Khiladi,” prompting even more laughter. Twinkle wrapped it up with a witty line: “Sometimes you do everything that is right.” Alia chimed in, acknowledging Varun’s knack for catchy lines: “See, I told you he is a marketing expert.” Interestingly, this isn’t the first time “marketing” has become a running gag on the show. In the premiere episode featuring Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, Kajol was often seen nudging her superstar guests to promote Two Much. Salman, true to form, slipped into his playful zone, offering quirky taglines such as “Twinkle in Kajol’s eyes,” “Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars,” and “Kajol yeh show hai jhol nahi.” The spontaneity left both Kajol and Twinkle in splits, with even Aamir Khan unable to hold back his laughter.
