Matt Damon Embarks on a Dangerous Voyage in ‘The Odyssey’ Trailer

Entertainment Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of the iconic Greek tale will arrive in theaters next July Matt Damon as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s in ‘The Odyssey.’ Melinda Sue Gordon/Universal Pictures Matt Damon‘s Odysseus sets out on a tumultuous journey home in the first trailer for Christopher Nolan‘s highly-anticipated next film, The Odyssey. The clip opens in the aftermath of the Trojan War. “After years of war, no one could stand before my men and home,” Damon intones over shots of soldiers. There are brief glimpses of Anne Hathaway‘s Penelope, Odysseus’ wife, and Tom Holland, who plays their son Telemachus. The trailer hints at the difficulties that await Odysseus as he travels across the sea, including the cyclops Polyphemus and terrifyingly rough weather. The Odyssey, an adaptation of Homer’s famed Greek epic, was directed by Nolan, and stars Damon, Holland, Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. It is set to arrive in theaters on July 17, 2026. “There’s a bit of everything in it,” Nolan recently told Empire of his desire to adapt the lengthy tale. “I mean, it truly contains all stories. As a filmmaker, you’re looking for gaps in cinematic culture, things that haven’t been done before. And what I saw is that all of this great mythological cinematic work that I had grown up with – Ray Harryhausen movies and other things – I’d never seen that done with the sort of weight and credibility that an A-budget and a big Hollywood, IMAX production could do.” Nolan also revealed that he and his crew shot over two million feet of film over 91 days, with much of the production done on the open ocean. “It’s vast and terrifying and wonderful and benevolent, as the conditions shift,” he noted. “We really wanted to capture how hard those journeys would have been for people. And the leap of faith that was being made in an unmapped, uncharted world.” Recently, Nolan released the six-minute prologue for The Odyssey in select IMAX theaters ahead of screenings of Sinners, One Battle After Another, and James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. According to Variety, the prologue includes footages of the famous Trojan Horse landing in Troy and Odysseus’ leading his army to victory. 21 Savage Says ‘F*ck the Streets.’ The Rap World Isn’t So Sure

Entertainment After calling for peace between Young Thug and Gunna, 21 Savage ignited a broader debate about street codes, snitching, branding, and whether rap’s old moral frameworks still matter in 2025 21 Savage performs during the 2025 Dreamville Music Festival Astrida Valigorsky/Getty Images Last week, 21 Savage took to X and called for reconciliation between Young Thug and Gunna, two titans of Atlanta rap who’d fallen out over the belief that Gunna’s plea in the YSL trial amounted to snitching. In a series of posts, 21 — whose new album is appropriately titled, What Happened to the Streets? — pleaded for the rap world writ large to let go of the so-called street codes at the root of Thug and Gunna’s alleged tension. “Fuck the streets,” 21 wrote, “we ain’t get shit but trauma from that shit.” A few days later, seemingly prepared for a detente, Young Thug tweeted: “Fuck the streets @21savage.” 21’s tweets have sparked what amounts to a movement on the rap internet, with pundits and fans chiming in on the supposed hypocrisy of rappers who rose to fame in part thanks to lyrical content that glorified street violence. Tekashi 6ix9ine, who was roundly ridiculed in hip-hop circles after he cooperated with federal prosecutors following his 2018 arrest, mocked 21’s recent rhetoric. On Instagram, he posted a Story with the caption: “Now it’s fuck the streets but remember when it was ‘yo 69 we don’t care about your platinum records WE PLATINUM IN THE STREETS.’” For all his trollish tendencies, many online seemed to agree with 6ix9ine’s assessment. The tension between street ethics and commercial viability has surfaced repeatedly throughout hip-hop’s history. Jay-Z wrestled with it explicitly in the late Nineties and early 2000s, moving from hardened street raps on albums like Reasonable Doubt to the more corporate (read: capitalist) self-mythology we see today. Debates around artists like Rick Ross, whose past as a corrections officer became public following his initial rise, exposed how selectively enforced rap’s moral codes have always been. There have been pockets of support for the so-called “F the streets” movement, too. Meek Mill, whose incarceration and subsequent advocacy for criminal-justice reform managed to reframe street authenticity in rap, chimed in, addressing rappers and fans taking issue with 21’s comments. “To the guys pushing that ‘street shit’ make sure feeding and supplying resources and opportunities for your family and community,” he wrote. “Make sure you didn’t put the streets before your ‘real family.’” Other artists often associated with “street” rap had similar takes, noting the extensive toll some of the violence depicted in their music has in real life. G Herbo — whose feature on 21’s new album makes for one of its best tracks — added some nuance to the discourse. “THE OBJECTIVE IS TO MAKE IT HOME EVERY NIGHT! THE GOAL IS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY & NOT BECOME A SAD STORY!” he wrote in a post on X. Even so, many see the movement as an exercise in branding more than promoting actual peace. The Atlanta rap scene has been in a state of flux ever since the sprawling YSL trial that saw its biggest stars ensnared in a far-reaching racketeering case. Young Thug, who was at the center of the Fulton County DA’s indictment, spent more than 2 years behind bars. In December 2022, Gunna took what’s known as an Alford Plea, in which he declared that YSL was a gang that “must end.” The rap world came to interpret this as tantamount to snitching, a violation of a sacred rule in the streets. He was soon roundly dismissed by a number of his peers and has yet to make any public appearances with Thug. Among its unintended consequences, the hubbub would inspire the moniker “Rat-lanta.” Earlier this year, Thug appeared on the podcast Perspektives With Bank, hosted by noted Atlanta rap personality Big Bank Black, where he tearfully discussed what he described as a betrayal by Gunna. “Was Gunna takin’ that plea harmful to me? Yes, 100 percent,” Thug said. “First we tellin’ the jurors ‘YSL ain’t a gang.’ Now [after the plea deals] we goin’ back to the jurors sayin’, ‘Well, some people might say it’s a gang — but we ain’t a part of that part of it. We a part of the record label part.’” Further complicating matters, leaked prison calls from when he was still behind bars appeared to show Thug similarly offering information to authorities in a separate, earlier case, instigating a widespread backlash. All the while, Gunna’s recent album The Last Wun was among the year’s best-performing rap projects, suggesting that audiences care less about the so-called “streets” than the rappers themselves. Online, the running narrative seems to be that this entire movement is partly a response to the lackluster sales figures for both 21 and Thug’s recent projects. Despite higher projections, 21’s What Happened to the Streets, sold around 73,000 album equivalent units and debuted at no. 3 on the Billboard 200. Thug’s first album out of prison was met with a muted critical response, and debuted at no. 6 on the charts with just over 50,000 albums sold.  Over the weekend, 21 took to Instagram to clarify his position. “When I say f the streets I’m talking about the part that gave me trauma and made me can’t sleep at night,” he wrote in an Instagram Story. “If you ain’t tired of that part you ain’t been through it!” That clarification may ultimately be the most telling part of this whole discourse cycle. In a rap landscape reshaped by RICO cases, streaming platforms, and audiences increasingly detached from the realities depicted in lyrics, the old rules no longer map so cleanly onto the present. It’s no wonder, then, that most of those speaking out in favor of the “F the streets” movement invoke the impact they’d like to have on their kids. No one would wish the thug life onto their child, and as 21’s era of rappers enters middle age, that’s precisely the kind of existential question they find themselves confronting. His “Fuck the streets” sentiment reflects a generation of

Bob Dylan Tries to Describe Willie Nelson: ‘He’s Like the Invisible Air’

Entertainment In a new profile of the 92-year-old Red Headed Stranger, Dylan offers his poetic take Bob Dylan attempts to describe all that is Willie Nelson in a new profile of Nelson in ‘The New Yorker.’ L. Cohen/WireImage Willie Nelson, and specifically his life on the road, is the focus of a new opus profile in The New Yorker. The highlights are many, but Bob Dylan’s attempt to explain the appeal of Nelson stands chief among them. In a statement to the magazine, he cautions that it’s difficult to speak of Nelson “without saying something stupid or irrelevant, he is so much of everything.” But Dylan tries nonetheless, in his own poetic Dylan way, ruminating on the 92-year-old Country Music Hall of Fame member as an “Ancient Viking Soul,” a “Master Builder of the Impossible,” and a “Moonshine Philosopher.” (The capped letters are all Dylan’s.) In one dandy of a phrase, he identifies Nelson and his signature long, braided hair as the “Red Bandana troubadour, braids like twin ropes lassoing eternity.” “What do you say about a guy who plays an old, battered guitar that he treats like it’s the last loyal dog in the universe?” Dylan continues. “Cowboy apparition, writes songs with holes that you can crawl through to escape from something. Voice like a warm porchlight left on for wanderers who kissed goodbye too soon or stayed too long. I guess you can say all that.” In the end, Dylan circles back to the quixotic nature of the task of describing Willie Nelson. “But it really doesn’t tell you a lot or explain anything about Willie. Personally speaking I’ve always known him to be kind, generous, tolerant and understanding of human feebleness, a benefactor, a father and a friend. He’s like the invisible air. He’s high and low. He’s in harmony with nature,” Dylan concludes. “And that’s what makes him Willie.” Nelson and Dylan spent this past summer on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour, but the pair go back more than 50 years and have shared the stage numerous times. They’ve sung their joint composition “Heartland” together, as well as Townes Van Zandt’s “Pancho & Lefty,” and were famously members of the U.S.A. for Africa “We Are the World” charity recording in the Eighties. Both remain true road dogs. Earlier this month, Dylan, at 84, announced an extensive 2026 tour kicking off in March in Nebraska. Nelson currently has no announced dates, but as a message on his website reads, “Check back often, Willie is always On the Road Again.” From Rolling Stone US. Read More

Tom Morello Brought Soul Power, A Star Guest and Family to His India Tour

Entertainment Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave and rock classics got fists pumping, as did a surprise performance of “Big Dawgs” with Hanumankind In October this year, when Tom Morello announced his debut India tour, it was a surprising addition to his concert schedule considering he wasn’t passing through the region as such. A month after his North America run wrapped up, the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage, and singer-songwriter under the moniker The Nightwatchman was going to be in India for solo shows with his band. After knocking off shows in Mumbai and Gurugram in Delhi NCR, Morello was in Bengaluru for the final stop of not just his India visit, but also his world tour that spanned North America and Australia. The cold, hazy Phoenix Marketcity back area ground was ready to be charged up, and the audience kind of had an idea of what to expect – RATM and Audioslave songs for sure, but also his solo material. By the end of Morello’s 90-minute set, Bengaluru got a hell of a tour closer, complete with rapper Hanumankind stepping on stage for a rap-rock version of his hit “Big Dawgs,” Morello’s son Roman unlocking his own fanbase for solos and guitar work, and the indomitable spirit of protest songs. Morello’s Bengaluru concert — produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live as part of their Bandland on Tour concert series — got its initial charge courtesy of folk-metallers The Down Troddence (TDT). A short but punchy set of old and new material from their albums How Are You? We Are Fine, Thank You and As You All Know, This Is How It Is included songs like “KFC,” “Maharani” (with Carnatic vocalist T.M. Krishna’s vocals in the track), and “Shiva.” It wasn’t a mismatch, but TDT’s song choices could’ve been more hard-hitting, with the crowd fully appreciating them only as they’d just got to the final song of their set. If TDT were bringing an intense side to the stage, Tom Morello was more celebratory and emphatic about the power of rock and roll throughout his set. He was joined by drummer Eric Gardner, bassist Dave Gibbs, guitarist Carl Restivo, and his son Roman (who got a proud-dad hug from Morello after each song he was part of). Morello took the stage in his distinct shirt, cap, scarf and dark sunglasses look, changing up guitars throughout the set. Opening with his 2024 single “Soldier In The Army of Love,” the dissonant guitar squeal was among the opening notes, showcasing Morello’s long-hailed mutinous guitar solos and effects. Roman matched solos with equal power, and Morello even rapped a bit, with his 2024 song “One Last Dance” with Toronto-bred rock artist Grandson tapping into rock and roll. Tom Morello performing during his debut India Tour in Bengaluru. Photo: Courtesy of BookMyShow Live Morello, outside of RATM, Audioslave and Prophets of Rage, has leaned more into collaborations than ever before, adding his flair to songs like “Gossip” by Maneskin, “Metali!!” by Babymetal and more. In Bengaluru, he played songs from his Atlas Underground albums, including “Let’s Get the Party Started” with Bring Me The Horizon (whose chorus sounded like a nod to Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive”) and “Hold the Line” with Grandson, plus “Keep Going” with The Bloody Beetroots. “In these troubled times, I’ve come to you with a message of peace, justice, and rock and roll,” Morello said as he got into “Hold The Line,” while “One Man Revolution” from his The Nightwatchman folk project was a proper stomper. In between, there was just an early taste of RATM, underscored by Morello mentioning how he’d waited 30 years to play in India. A medley of “Testify,” “Take The Power Back,” “Freedom” and “Snakecharmer” had everyone gleefully guessing the riffs and headbanging, but it was going to be a while before Morello got back to that era. By now, it was clear that Morello was here to have fun, pay tribute to his favorite artists, and share the music he was best known for with Indian fans. The year had seen him also perform at Back To The Beginning, the farewell show for Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne in Birmingham, U.K. in July. He underscored his tribute to Osbourne and Sabbath with a nod to their history and cross-generational impact, leading up to “Mr. Crowley” with Roman. The few thousands gathered in Bengaluru lapped it up, even throwing back an “Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy, Oi Oi Oi!” chant, which perhaps cemented what Morello had heard about the city being a rock and heavy metal capital of the country. Tom Morello’s son Roman performing during his debut India Tour. Photo: Courtesy of BookMyShow Live It took a few more songs like “Cato Stedman & Neptune Frost” (one of his earliest songs written in 1981), “Secretariat,” and the acoustic “The Road I Must Travel” for the crowd to understand that Morello was almost taking people through a history lesson in rock and roll. His son Roman was helping massively, the 14-year-old performing a cover of “For The Love of God” by Steve Vai that got the crowd chanting his name in unison. Morello shared another historical gem about the formation of Rage Against The Machine, and how the first feedback they’d ever gotten was “It makes me want to fight.” With that, songs like “Bombtrack,” “Know Your Enemy,” “Bulls On Parade,” “Guerilla Radio,” and “Sleep Now In the Fire” rang through, ending with the helicopter-like scratching of Audioslave’s “Cochise.” It segued into Morello paying tribute to Chris Cornell, where a spotlight on the stage mic set a poignant tone as “Like A Stone” took audiences down memory lane, carried by the crowd’s chorus and rounded out by Morello’s iconic solo. Morello said before the song, “What a pleasure it was to stand beside him [Cornell]. While we’re saddened he’s gone, his unbridled rock power and his music will never be outshined.” The crowd at Tom Morello’s Bengaluru concert. Photo: Courtesy

Badshah flaunted the watch with a signature witty rap caption: “Koi bar ni kamaai pe, Barbie kalaai pe, bar dete tod, launde aa jaate jo aayi pe.” (No limits on the paycheck, Barbie on the wrist, breaking barriers…) By securing this piece, Badshah joins a microscopic “global club” of owners that includes some of the world’s most famous faces: Lionel Messi: Spotted wearing it pitch-side at an Inter Miami match. Mark Wahlberg: Known for his legendary “unobtainable” Rolex collection. Drake: A frequent wearer of off-catalogue “Rollies.” The “Barbie” Rolex is just the latest “gem” in a lifestyle that defines royalty. Badshah’s love for the finer things extends far beyond his wrist. PPL India takes Kapil Sharma, Netflix to Bombay HC over use of 3 songs without licence: Report

Entertainment Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL) India has approached the Bombay High Court in a copyright infringement case involving comedian Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show The Great Indian Kapil Show. The organisation claims that three songs were used without permission in Season 3 of the series, which aired between June and September this year. PPL India takes Kapil Sharma, Netflix to Bombay HC over use of 3 songs without licence: Report A report by Mid-Day stated that according to the commercial suit filed on December 12, PPL India says the episodes included popular tracks without securing the necessary licences from the rights holders. The episodes in question featured ‘M Bole To’ from Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), ‘Rama Re’ from Kaante (2002), and ‘Subha Hone Na De’ from Desi Boyz (2011). PPL India states the use of these songs amounts to “public performance/communication to the public” under the Indian Copyright Act, which requires a licence. Neither the producers nor Netflix obtained permission before using the music, the complaint alleges. The organisation also highlighted that the show is first recorded before a live audience, where the songs are played audibly, and later streamed on Netflix. This, it says, adds to the extent of the alleged infringement. Prior to filing the suit, PPL India issued a cease-and-desist notice in early November, but claims the response from the show’s makers was only a holding reply and did not stop the use of its sound recordings. PPL India has asked the High Court to stop the use of its copyrighted music without a licence, reveal any earnings from the allegedly unauthorised use, and consider appointing a court receiver to seize infringing materials. The matter is expected to come up in the commercial division of the Bombay High Court soon. Representatives for Kapil Sharma, Netflix, and the production companies had not commented at the time of reporting.
