Dikshant Lays Out His Distinct Vulnerabilities on ‘Aakhri Baat’ EP

Entertainment The singer-songwriter’s four-track collection of songs explores heartbreak with an earnest intimacy Singer-songwriter Dikshant. Photo: Courtesy of the artist Singer-songwriter Dikshant has often sung about matters of the heart and one of his biggest songs to date—the earnest “Aankhon Se Batana” in 2022—is also a romantic song. He returns once again to sing about love on Aakhri Baat, a four-track EP that released earlier this month and covers what he feels is a different side compared to his prior uplifting and motivational songs. Does Dikshant ever feel exhaustion or better still, catharsis while drawing from deeply personal stories and intense experiences like heartbreak? He tells Rolling Stone India it’s “never truly exhausting” and even quotes Buddha on how “suffering is an inherent part of the human experience.” He adds, “It can be challenging to reveal the most vulnerable parts of myself, the ones that only my close circle truly knows. While it’s definitely not easy to put those emotions out there, I’m grateful that songwriting provides a channel for that expression.” The title track of the EP, in fact, isn’t so much about heartbreak as it is about death. Dikshant says the song was inspired by a “deeply emotional scene of saying goodbye forever in an ICU room, where an elderly couple part ways.” It begins with a deep breath drawn and released, later traversing wistful piano and guitars that swell into orchestral arrangements, it’s one of Dikshant’s most poignant works yet. “The sigh at the beginning symbolizes the final, heavy breath, and as the song progresses, you’ll notice heartbeat-like beeps that reflect the poignant moments of life and loss. Ultimately, the flatline at the end represents the final goodbye.” These kind of production and sound design flourishes made by Dikshant with producer Nabeel Zubair walk the line between raw and intimate emotions over cinematic treatment. The EP was in the works for about a year and a half. With the title track, he even decided to keep the initial scratch recording in the final mix. Elsewhere, “Intezaar” adds intrigue and dramatic shifts, “Ae Dil” is a simple ode to the feelings that hearts are subject to, and the lush “Qareeb” addresses forgiveness after betrayal. For the most part, Dikshant says he relied on his guitar, which he likens to his best friend. “I relied on acoustic elements and, for the first time, introduced live-recorded violins to add depth and emotion. Ultimately, the goal was to create something that felt like home—vulnerable, genuine, and reflective of who I am,” he adds. There’s more new music and directions to traverse now that Aakhri Baat is out. “I’m eager to tap into different musical styles and see how I can push my boundaries and discover my full potential.” A four-city tour is in the works for his fans, referred to as Humrahis. “I can’t wait to perform unreleased songs and share my growth as an artist with my beloved Humrahis. It’s all about connecting deeply, exploring new horizons, and showing how far I’ve come,” he says. Read More

Avatar: Fire And Ash shows to be CUT by 30% on Christmas Day for Kartik Aaryan’s Tu Meri Main Tera; exhibitors pick Kartik as their first choice

Entertainment As Dhurandhar is continuing to rule the box office in India, the battle for the Christmas 2025 period is getting intense between the Kartik Aaryan led Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and the James Cameron film, Avatar: Fire and Ash. And in a surprising turn of events, exhibitors have decided to reduce the show count of Avatar: Fire and Ash on Christmas Day to accommodate the Kartik Aaryan rom-com at their properties. Avatar: Fire And Ash shows to be CUT by 30% on Christmas Day for Kartik Aaryan’s Tu Meri Main Tera; exhibitors pick Kartik as their first choice “Jio Star Studios (Distributor of Avatar: Fire and Ash in India for Disney India) has permitted exhibitors to move the Christmas Day programming for Avatar: Fire and Ash as the exhibitors had strong pressure from the stakeholders of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri headlined by Kartik Aaryan with Ananya Panday. The show reduction process has already begun at independent chains, and approx. 30 per cent of the shows will be reduced for Avatar: Fire and Ash on Christmas Day, which will give a very good release to the Kartik Aaryan film,” a trade source shared with Bollywood Hungama. The exhibitors are bullish on Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri as it’s a happy film featuring a young star like Kartik Aaryan, and it fits the bill for the family plans over the holiday period of Christmas and New Year. “There is strong demand for Tu Meri Main Tera among the youth, and they are expected to ensure a strong start for the film on the opening day despite competition. The audience demand is driving the showcasing and programming, as Avatar: Fire and Ash has clearly not fired the way it should have at the box office,” the trade source told Bollywood Hungama. In contrast, Jio Studios has not permitted any reduction in shows for Dhurandhar on Christmas Day. Exhibitors are adhering strictly to the original showcasing commitments for the film. EXCLUSIVE: New screen, new sound, new era – Chennai, Bengaluru enter IMAX XT Laser 3D territory for the FIRST time with Avatar: Fire And Ash

Entertainment IMAX has retained its appeal for years, and it’s no surprise that audiences continue to flock to it despite the premium pricing, especially when a true big-screen spectacle arrives. The Avatar franchise, in particular, enjoys unmatched patronage in IMAX, thanks to its breathtaking, immersive visuals that feel tailor-made for the format. Bollywood Hungama has learned that with Avatar: Fire And Ash hitting cinemas today, December 19, moviegoers in Bengaluru and Chennai will be welcomed by an upgraded IMAX experience in their respective cities. EXCLUSIVE: New screen, new sound, new era – Chennai, Bengaluru enter IMAX XT Laser 3D territory for the FIRST time with Avatar: Fire And Ash The IMAX at PVR Nexus, Koramangala, Bengaluru and the one at PVR Palazzo, The Nexus Vijaya Mall, Chennai, were closed for renovation in November. On November 20, Preetham Daniel, Vice President – IMAX Corporation – India, SE Asia, Korea, Australia and New Zealand, confirmed that both the aforementioned properties were set for laser upgrades. He further stated that it was a long-standing demand from IMAX fans that it was finally being done. However, he added that he kept his fingers crossed that the cinemas will be ready for operation by the time of Avatar: Fire And Ash’s release. Until Thursday, December 18, there was an uncertainty whether the IMAX in PVR Nexus and PVR Palazzo would manage to resume operations by December 19. Thankfully, on Thursday evening, the bookings of PVR Palazzo commenced for Avatar: Fire And Ash and in no time, the shows were filled. At around 9:00 pm, PVR Nexus also appeared on the booking websites. As per reports, not just the screen and sound system but even new seats and new carpet were installed in PVR IMAX Nexus. As for PVR IMAX Palazzo, the management simply went for the upgrade of the new screen and sound system. A source from the exhibition sector explained to Bollywood Hungama, “Both PVR IMAX Nexus Koramangala and PVR IMAX Palazzo consisted of IMAX Dual Xenon 3D projection. These cinemas have now been upgraded to IMAX XT Laser 3D. Xenon was a standard at one point but now, XT Laser is preferred as it offers significantly brighter, sharper images with better colours, contrast, and resolution.” This means that residents of Chennai and Bengaluru will experience IMAX XT Laser 3D for the first time, as all the other IMAX properties in these Southern cities consist of IMAX Dual Xenon 3D projection. The source further said, “There’s also a more advanced format called Commercial Laser 3D IMAX, which uses next-gen laser projection to deliver brighter, sharper images with deeper contrast and richer colours, a big advantage for 3D, which can otherwise appear dimmer. The result is a more lifelike, immersive viewing experience. In India, only two cinemas have this advanced projection – PVR IMAX Lower Parel in Mumbai and PVR Select City Walk Saket in Delhi. There were hopes that the Chennai and Bengaluru IMAX screens would receive the Commercial Laser upgrade. Nevertheless, XT Laser is also preferable and will be lapped up by the fans.” Of India’s 34 IMAX cinemas, 13 were equipped with XT Laser projection until now. With the upgrade, PVR IMAX Nexus Koramangala Bengaluru and PVR IMAX Palazzo Chennai have now joined this coveted list. Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan to reunite in Anees Bazmee’s next: Report

Entertainment Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan are reportedly set to share the screen once again in an upcoming project directed by Anees Bazmee, according to Filmfare. The film marks a significant reunion for the actor-director duo, who last worked together 14 years ago on Thank You (2011). Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan to reunite in Anees Bazmee’s next: Report After weeks of speculation about the casting, Filmfare has reported that Vidya Balan has been roped in as one of the leading ladies for the untitled movie. This casting decision was “unanimously welcomed by the team,” insiders say, signaling strong confidence in the pairing. A source close to the production told the publication, “Akshay and Vidya share effortless chemistry as actors, something audiences have loved in films like Heyy Babyy (2007), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) and Mission Mangal (2019). Off screen too, they share a warm equation, which made this an easy yes for everyone involved.” The new film is expected to feature two prominent female characters, with Vidya playing one of the leads. While details about the second female role and storyline are still under wraps, insiders suggest it will balance humour, emotion, and strong character arcs, elements Bazmee and Akshay are both known for. This project also marks Akshay and Vidya’s first on-screen collaboration in six years, following their successful work in Mission Mangal. Their pairing has long been popular with audiences, particularly after the cult success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar continues to stay busy with multiple films in progress, including Welcome To The Jungle, Haiwaan, and Bhooth Bhangla. EXCLUSIVE: Dhurandhar completes its glorious run in IMAX as Avatar: Fire And Ash takes over; single screens, Gaiety-Galaxy SKIP Hollywood biggie; continue with Ranveer Singh-starrer

Entertainment Dhurandhar, which is all set to become the biggest hit of the year, enters the third week of its release today. The film overperformed in its second week and is now all set for another huge week from today. The Ranveer Singh-starrer also had a release in the IMAX version. However, its IMAX run ended yesterday, on December 18. EXCLUSIVE: Dhurandhar completes its glorious run in IMAX as Avatar: Fire And Ash takes over; single screens, Gaiety-Galaxy SKIP Hollywood biggie; continue with Ranveer Singh-starrer This is because Avatar: Fire And Ash has now taken over all the IMAX screens across India and also the world. Directed by James Cameron, the fantasy drama is known for its spellbinding visuals. Hence, it makes for an ideal watch in IMAX theatres. It’s no wonder that its shows in the IMAX cinemas got filled first. Nevertheless, Dhurandhar had a glorious run in the IMAX version. The film also had a big screen appeal which enticed people to check it out in IMAX. Interestingly, the film didn’t get a release in IMAX on the day of its release due to late delivery of prints. But once the issue settled, the film managed to score big time in the wide-screen cinemas. Avatar vs Dhurandhar update Yesterday, Bollywood Hungama had reported that the advance booking in several one-screen and two-screen cinemas had not begun for shows from December 19 due to show-sharing issues between Avatar: Fire And Ash and Dhurandhar. As per a trade source, “Disney, the studio releasing Avatar: Fire And Ash, has asked single-screen theatres that they want all shows for their film. In two-screen cinemas, they have asked for 5 or 6 shows. However, exhibitors are not comfortable with this directive as Dhurandhar is running very successfully. They are confident that even in its third week, the Ranveer Singh-starrer will find a huge audience, as evident by the steady footfalls the film has generated in the weekdays.” The matter was expected to be resolved. Sadly, that hasn’t happened. The trade source informed Bollywood Hungama, “Disney was adamant about getting all shows for Avatar: Fire And Ash while the single screens requested for show sharing. With no other option, single-screen cinemas had to give up on the plan to play Avatar: Fire And Ash. Late Thursday night, they opened the advance booking and have decided to continue playing Dhurandhar with all shows until December 24.” The only exception is PVR Le Reve, Bandra, formerly known as Globus Cinema. It’ll play Avatar: Fire And Ash with two shows a day, at 8:00 am and 7:20 pm, while Dhurandhar will be played by 11:40 am, 3:30 pm and 11:00 pm. In other words, PVR Le Reve is one of the few single screens in the whole of India that will play the James Cameron directorial. On the other hand, all the two-screen cinemas of Mumbai have allotted 3 shows to Avatar: Fire And Ash and the remaining 6 shows to Dhurandhar. Finally, those hoping to watch Avatar: Fire And Ash at Mumbai’s iconic G7 complex, popularly known as Gaiety-Galaxy, might be disappointed. Until December 18, bookings for Galaxy and Gemini were not opened, fuelling hope that the James Cameron directorial would find a slot in one of the two screens. However, late Thursday night, bookings for all screens were opened, and there was no listing for Avatar: Fire And Ash. Dhurandhar will continue to play in Gaiety and Galaxy, the complex’s biggest screens, while Gemini will play four shows of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.
