Liam Gallagher Barred From Tossing Maracas at Oasis Concerts After Crowd Injuries

Entertainment “I’ve just been told don’t do any of that shit anymore because you don’t know how to behave yourselves,” singer said of fan skirmishes over his discarded instruments Liam Gallagher and his maracas Samir Hussein/WireImage Liam Gallagher has been barred from his traditional maracas tossing at Oasis’ reunion concerts after crowd skirmishes in pursuit of the instruments resulted in injuries. At the band’s Edinburgh show last week, Gallagher informed the audience they would not be the recipients of his tambourine or maracas because they “don’t know how to behave themselves.” ‘I can’t throw my tambourine out tonight or my maracas I’ve been told not to. I’m not being tight or anything like that, do you know what I mean,” Gallagher told the crowd. The Metro UK reported that at Oasis’ concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, a 42-year-old woman managed to catch the maracas, but she was soon mobbed by two men who wrestled away the instrument from her. The woman then sent photos of her injuries — cuts and bruises — from the “horrible” experience to the British tabloids, which likely resulted in Gallagher’s maracas ban. “I’ve just been told don’t do any of that shit anymore because you don’t know how to behave yourselves,” Gallagher told the Edinburgh crowd. “You keep pinching each other on your nipples and ears and fucking shit like that and kneeing each other in the bollocks. I’ve been told now.” It’s not just catching a stage-used item from Oasis’ unlikely reunion tour that has audience members crazed: Maracas and tambourines from Oasis’ previous U.K. shows have reportedly commanded big money on online marketplaces. Oasis’ trek resumes Saturday with the first of two shows in Dublin, Ireland. The reunion tour will then hop the Atlantic, with the North American leg beginning August 24 and 25 in Toronto.  From Rolling Stone US. Read More

Ronnie Rondell Jr., Fiery Stuntman on Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ Cover, Dead at 88

Entertainment Longtime stuntman and actor with over 200 credits also worked on Lethal Weapon, The Matrix Reloaded, and Charlie’s Angels, but was best known for iconic 1975 album cover Ronnie Rondell Jr. (right) and Danny Rogers on the cover of Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ Ronnie Rondell Jr., the longtime Hollywood stuntman immortalized on fire for the cover of Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here, has died at the age of 88. Rondell Jr. died Tuesday at a senior living facility in Missouri, his family announced (via The Hollywood Reporter). No cause of death was provided. A stuntman and actor with over 200 credits on his filmography, Rondell Jr. is perhaps best known for a single photograph: The iconic cover of Pink Floyd’s 1975 album Wish You Were Here, where he was lit on fire on a Hollywood backlot (Warner Bros. Studios), shaking hands with a man in a suit (Danny Rogers). “I’d been doing a lot of fire work in those days, and I had the special suits and all this stuff for fully enveloped fire,” Rondell Jr. said in the documentary Pink Floyd: The Story of Wish You Were Here. “It was pretty easy to do, not too life-threatening, and paid well.” To capture the photo, conceived by Hipgnosis’ Storm Thorgesen and Audrey Powell, Rondell Jr. was reportedly lit on fire 15 times, as wind and other factors — “There’s a funny thing about fire. When it gets in your face, you’re going to move,” Rondell Jr. added — forced the many attempts. During the shoot, the flames caused Rondell Jr. to lose an eyebrow and part of his mustache, but the finished product was worth it: Wish You Were Here is routinely hailed as one of the greatest album covers of all time. “Ronnie was very gracious about it considering… but as far as he was concerned as a professional in the movie industry it was all in a day’s work,” Powell said of Rondell Jr.s contribution. In a big screen and small screen career that spanned from 1955 to 2003, Rondell Jr. appeared significantly-albeit-anonymously or served as a stunt coordinator in films and shows like Lethal Weapon, Batman & Robin, Twister, The Crow, Predator 2, They Live, The Karate Kid, Commando, and TV’s Charlie’s Angels. While he retired in 2000, he returned for one final film, a chase sequence in 2003’s The Matrix Reloaded, where his son R.A. Rondell served as supervising stunt coordinator. From Rolling Stone US. Terence Stamp, ‘Superman’ and ‘The Limey’ Actor, Dead at 87

Entertainment Oscar-nominated British actor also appeared in Billy Budd, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and Wall Street Terence Stamp Sonia Recchia/Getty Images Terence Stamp, the Oscar-nominated British actor who starred in The Limey, Billy Budd, and as General Zod in Superman, has died at the age of 87. Stamp’s death was announced Sunday by his family, who said in a statement, “He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and a writer that will continue to touch people for years to come,” the BBC reports. No cause of death was provided. The actor’s six-decade film career began in 1962 with the titular role in Billy Budd, which earned the then-24-year-old an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Stamp would next star in Sixties films like The Collector, Far From the Maddening Crowd, Modesty Blaise, Poor Cow, Teorama, and the horror anthology Spirits of the Dead. In the Seventies, Stamp stepped back from acting to become a swami in India, but he experienced a career resurgence in 1978 when he was cast as the villainous General Zod in the big screen adaptation of Superman; he would reprise the role in the 1980 sequel Superman II.  Notable films in the decade that followed include supporting roles in Wall Street, The Hit, Young Guns, and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, where Stamp’s turn as a transgender woman earned him both a Golden Globe and BAFTA nomination for Best Actor. In 1999, Stamp starred in director Steven Soderbergh’s nonlinear revenge film The Limey. “I would play this game with Terence, because he literally has no fixed address — but he’s seen everything, done everything, lived everywhere,” Soderbergh told Rolling Stone in a 20th anniversary interview about the acclaimed film. “So I’d just turn to him and go, ‘The best necktie shop?’ And he’d pause and go, ‘Oh, there’s this place in London . . .’ I mean, whatever you asked him — the best French restaurant, the best this, the best that — he knew it. He had an answer immediately. Over the past two decades, Stamp also appeared in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Soderbergh’s Full Frontal, Wanted, Get Smart, Tim Burton’s Big Eyes, the Adam Sandler comedy Murder Mystery, and his last big screen credit, Edgar Wright’s 2021 horror film Last Night in Soho. Stamp would also return to the Superman universe, albeit on the small screen, to portray the hero’s father Jor-El on the series Smallville. From Rolling Stone US. Read More
