Allen, an SNL musical guest in early 2007, opened with “Sleepwalking,” the third entry on the track list. Rooted in her separation from Stranger Things actor David Harbour, West End Girl finds the British singer-songwriter “taking a brutal inventory of the scars she amassed while her marriage was falling apart,” Rolling Stone‘s Maura Johnston wrote in a positive review. Allen said the trouble in her personal life ended up pulling her out of a bout of writer’s block. “I thought I didn’t have any good songs left,” Allen, 40, told The Times upon the album’s October release. “My writing had been really bad and it took something to happen in my life, for everything to be blown up, for me to be able to go, ‘Oh, here she is.’” Allen on Saturday returned to the stage alongside actress Dakota Johnson for “Madeline,” with Johnson playing the part of the woman with whom her husband is having an affair. Sharing photos of a wrap-up party with the cast and crew on the social media platform, the producer wrote, “And … it’s a wrap for #GDN … #WrapUpParty.” Written and directed by Krishnakumar Ramkumar of Oho Enthan Baby fame, the film also stars Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Priyamani, Yogi Babu and Dushara Vijayan. Vijay Moolan and Varghese Moolan are producing it under their eponymous banner. Madhavan, too, produces it alongside his wife, Sarita, through their banner, Tricolour Films. Often hailed as the “Edison of India”, GD Naidu was a self-taught engineer and entrepreneur from Coimbatore who revolutionised Indian industry by adapting imported technologies into affordable, practical innovations. He developed India’s first indigenous electric motor and created a range of products, from fans and razors to petrol engines and ticket machines, that transformed local manufacturing. The film marks a reunion of Tricolour Films and Varghese Moolan Pictures following their collaboration on Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Earlier, the makers of the GD Naidu biopic dropped a poster giving a first look at Madhavan’s character. However, the actor is unrecognisable in the G.D.N first-look poster. The filmmaker shared the update during an interview given as part of the promotions for his upcoming film Kombuseevi, starring Sarath Kumar and Shanmuga Pandian. The announcement quickly sparked excitement online, with Sivakarthikeyan’s fanbase leading the celebrations. However, Ponram made it clear that the second part will not simply pick up where the original left off. Speaking to Galatta, he revealed that the project is already in progress and that the script is complete. He explained that the story has been reworked to suit Sivakarthikeyan’s current stature in the industry. Rather than a direct continuation, the narrative has been shaped keeping in mind the actor’s growth, star image and expanded fan following. Ponram added that filming will begin once everything falls into place and Sivakarthikeyan gives his final nod. Alongside the sequel, Ponram also disclosed that he is working on another new project, which will be a full-fledged comedy. He said an official announcement regarding this film will be made soon. After going through several hassles on both production and post-production stages, Patang will finally arrive in theatres on December 25. So far, the teasers released by the makers primarily focused on the unique kite-flying backdrop for the narrative. The new trailer, however, establishes the complex dynamics between the three leads of the film — played by Preethi Pagadala, Pranav Kaushik, and Vamsi Pujit. Vamsi Pujit and Pranav Kaushik play two close friends who have come a long way, and have stayed together since childhood. Vamsi plays Narayana, a small-time food vendor who is clearly in love with Aishwarya (Preethi). Aishwarya, on the other hand loves Chaitanya who reciprocates the affection. And yet, the two lovers struggle to keep Narayana out of their equation. It eventually takes a massive sports competition, much like mythological stories as Aishwarya points out, to decide a suitable boy. The sport in question – kite-flying.  Praneeth Prathipatti is the writer-director for the film. By the looks of its trailer, Patang looks extremely well made and fresh in terms of its aesthetics and visual design. Key technicians include cinematographer Shakthi Arvind, editor Chanakya Reddy Toorupu, stylist  Meghana Sheshavapuri and production designer Venkat Saathavahana. Entertainment Ryan Coogler on the sets of Sinners Updated on :  15 Dec 2025, 5:13 am Ryan Coogler has revealed that one of the most exhausting moments while making Sinners had nothing to do with its vampires or its 1930s setting but rather a deceptively simple driving sequence involving Michael B Jordan. Fresh off the film’s strong awards-season run, the filmmaker reflected on what he described as his most mentally taxing day on set. Speaking on Entertainment Weekly’s Awardist podcast, Coogler recalled struggling to coordinate a scene featuring Jordan and his body double, Percy Bell, who play twin brothers Smoke and Stack. According to Coogler, the challenge lay in precision. What appears effortless on screen required multiple carefully timed elements to line up perfectly. Jordan had to drive the car at an exact speed, stop at the right moment, exit the vehicle on cue, and interact with the surrounding bushes. all while matching the movements required to distinguish the twins. “There are scenes you watch later, and you’d never guess how hard they were,” Coogler said, adding that the driving sequence was the one where he nearly lost his composure. He explained that the shot demanded repeated passes of the car and flawless synchronisation, as even minor timing errors would ruin the illusion. He also pointed out that Smoke and Stack are intentionally portrayed with subtle physical differences, from how they walk to how they drive and step out of a car, which only added to the complexity. Those distinctions, Coogler noted, had to remain consistent even as the technical choreography became more demanding. Despite the chaos behind the scenes, the director believes the effort paid off. He said the moment works well in the finished film, which has earned seven Golden Globe nominations, including Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Motion Picture—Drama. Rob Reiner was a towering figure in American film and television. He first became a household name in the 1970s as Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the landmark sitcom All in the Family. The son of legendary comedian and writer Carl Reiner, he later built an influential career behind the camera.
