Moog Suresh: Directing for the first time felt like bringing an old dream to life

Entertainment Updated on :  09 Dec 2025, 5:49 pm For more than forty years, Moog Suresh has made audiences smile the moment he appeared on screen. With over 450 films, he became one of Kannada cinema’s most loved comedy actors, the kind of performer who could lift even a quiet scene with his timing. Now, after decades in front of the camera, Suresh is stepping behind the camera to revive an old dream. His directorial debut, Thamma Kshame Irali Thande, marks an important new chapter. He has produced the film, directed it, and also plays a prominent role in it. “I come from amateur theatre, and cinema has given me everything. Every director and producer who trusted me helped me reach this stage. I feel all their support as I make my directorial debut,” he says. Based on a story by Sa Harish, the film follows the struggles of an honest, middle-class government employee who finds himself trapped in tough situations. “It’s a story about helplessness and dignity. It shows how far a father can go for his son, and how a family stands together through pain. Many people will see their own home in this film,” Suresh explains. To bring this emotional world alive, Suresh chose actors who could portray real and honest feelings. Manjunath Hegde plays the father while Renuka Bali plays the mother. “Their performances give the film its heartbeat,” he says. Young actor Shrimanth plays the son, who is torn between fear and confusion. Suresh himself plays a character he describes as “cold and cruel,” a sharp turn from his well-known comic roles. “People know me for comedy. But this character is the opposite. Direction pushes you to break your own pattern.” The cinematography by Suryakant, edited by Mutturaj, features actors like Rekha Sagar, Vinya Shetty, and senior theatre artistes. It captures everyday life, the narrow lanes of homes, busy offices, a father’s quiet strength, and a son’s growing worry. Once filming ended, Suresh felt a new sense of growth. “Direction makes you step into every character’s mind. You feel their fears, hopes, and thoughts.” As a producer, he also faced new responsibilities. “It was challenging, but it taught me a lot,” says the first time director, concluding, “I have always been an actor. But directing this film felt like bringing an old dream to life. My team supported me throughout, and I am thankful.” Read More

Landlord sets up a smouldering hero-villain duel between Vijay Kumar and Raj B Shetty

Entertainment Updated on :  09 Dec 2025, 5:19 pm Team Landlord has been rolling out its character reveals with theatrical flair, beginning with lead actor Vijay Kumar, followed by Rachita Ram. Now, the makers have dropped the most talked-about reveal yet, the character look of Raj B Shetty as The Ruler. It marks the actor-filmmaker’s first full-fledged antagonist role in Kannada cinema, written by Jadeshaa K Hampi, the director of the film. Landlord brings together Duniya Vijay and Raj B Shetty in their maiden collaboration. Jadeshaa says this dynamic was embedded in the script from the very beginning. “I knew my villain needed real weight. Think Vijay Sethupathi opposite Kamal Haasan in Vikram, Fahadh Faasil in Pushpa 2, or Biju Menon opposite Prithviraj in Ayyappanum Koshiyum. My story demanded that level of intensity. Raj’s character isn’t a stock villain. He is a family man with emotions and his own journey. But his principles stand in direct conflict with Vijay Kumar’s survival instinct. Raj is the ruler, Vijay is the survivor, and the law becomes their battleground, all set against a raw village backdrop.” Produced by KV Sathyaprakash and Hemanth Gowda KS under the Saarathi Films banner, the film is currently slated for a theatrical release on 23 January. Raj B Shetty says the director was his biggest reason for coming on board. “I genuinely want directors to win. In this film, I play someone from an oppressive class, a man who will go to any extent for power.” He also shares a light-hearted anecdote. “Jadeshaa said the character needed hair. I asked him, ‘Are you sure?’ Wigs rarely cooperate with me. When I saw the teaser, it felt perfect,” he chuckles. Raj adds that his dialogues are in the Kolar dialect and praises his first-time collaboration with Duniya Vijay. “It was a delight. I hope this film brings good fortune to the producers.” Vijay, meanwhile, recalls their early days. “Twenty years ago, I walked in with two tomatoes and fifteen rupees. Raj came with an egg. We were mocked then. Today, I’m the Survivor, and he’s the Ruler.” The cast also includes Bhavana Rao. With dialogues by Maasti, Srikanth, and Manjunath, Landlord has music by B Ajaneesh Loknath, cinematography by Swami J Gowda, and editing by KM Prakash. Read More

December 12 officially confirmed for Akhanda 2 release

Entertainment Updated on :  09 Dec 2025, 5:11 pm After a lot of anticipation, the makers of Balakrishna-Boyapati Srinu’s Akhanda 2 finally officially confirmed December 12 as the release date for their film. The Akhanda sequel is produced by 14 Reels Plus banner, with Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta. Besides the release date announcement, the team also shared that they will organise special premiere shows on Thursday, December 11. The new release date comes after 5 days of uncertainty and major upheaval in the entire industry, following the legal injunction ordered by Madras High Court on December 4 that instructed the Akhanda 2 producers to clear the payments due to Eros International, in order to proceed with their film’s release. Meanwhile, Akhanda 2 now arriving on December 12 also means that other films scheduled for release that day will now likely reconsider their plans. Currently, besides Akhanda 2, other films set for December 12 release include Mowgli, Eesha, Psyche Siddhartha, and Drive. Akhanda 2 marks the fourth collaboration between Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu after Akhanda, Simha and Legend. The film also stars Aadhi Pinisetty, Samyuktha and Harshaali Malhotra in lead cast. Thaman S has composed music for the film. It also remains to be seen whether Akhanda 2 team will go ahead with their plans to release the film in Awadhi, as they had announced earlier. Read More
