Photo: Courtesy of All By Play Singer-songwriter Prateeksha Srivastava has been balancing her roles as an artist as well as a lyricist in recent years and now she’s set to showcase that range with a four-city run of shows starting Dec. 7 in Pune. The artist behind songs like “Khayaal” and “Tu Saamne” with composer-producer Abhijeet Srivastava (her brother) as well as lyrics to songs like “Aankh” sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and produced by Rusha & Blizza will go on to perform in New Delhi on Dec. 12 at Depot48 and in Mumbai on Dec. 21 at Rule 34. An additional date for Srivastava’s tour, presented by music company All By Play, will be announced for Kolkata in the coming weeks. Srivastava says in a statement, “This tour is a dream coming true—taking my stories, my songs, and my voice to stages across the country. I can’t wait to meet everyone who has held my music close. Let’s make these nights honest, loud, and full of emotion.” The shows take place on the back of Srivastava releasing her three-track EP Tiny Truths in September. With music composed by Srivastava along with Pune producer Akarsh Shetty, the EP sees the singer-songwriter in a stirring, introspective mood. The EP offers an easygoing song like “Tum Jo Ho Yahaan” as well as the groovy, bright love song “Safar.” It closes with “Adhoora,” a melancholy song driven by Srivastava’s rich vocal melodies, lush production and a shehnai-like section. The latest from the film, directed by Chidambaram from a Jithu Madhavan screenplay, is that its production has been completed. KVN Productions, which is producing the film in association with Thespian Films, made the announcement earlier today. The producers shared a still featuring the film’s cast and crew following the shoot and wrote, “Together we made a film. Together we made memories. It’s a wrap for Balan.” The still features Chandu Salimkumar, who also shared the update in his Instagram Stories, suggesting that the Manjummel Boys actor stars in the film. The film marks KVN Productions’ entry into Malayalam cinema. Interestingly, Balan is also the title of the first film made with sound in Malayalam, as well as the third film in the industry after the silent films Vigathakumaran (1928) and Marthanda Varma (1933). As the film went on floors in August, the makers dropped the first official poster from it that features a young boy as he walks with a stick in his hand.
