Oasis’ Reunion Tour Was All About the Joy of Positive Masculinity

Entertainment This year’s wildly successful shows marked a moment of reconciliation for the Gallagher brothers — and brought out the best in lots of dudes Jeff Jarrett traveled from his home in St. Louis to see the kickoff of the Oasis Live ’25 tour in Cardiff, Wales, in July, then to Chicago’s Soldier Field in August. But, for him, no Oasis gig will ever match the early-September night in Pasadena, California, where he saw his favorite band alongside his six-year-old son, Wolf, for the first time. “It was an evening that was as lovely — and as loud — as I hoped it would be,” says Jarrett, 44, a booking agent and artist manager, who proudly recalls watching his son receive first-bumps and high-fives from those seated around them. “When Wolf was singing ‘Acquiesce,’ I laughed like Mr. Burns in The Simpsons: ‘My son loves Oasis. The plan is working.’” Fathers and sons. Dads and daughters. Dads and their dads. Husbands, boyfriends, best buddies. Former college roommates, current college roommates. And none of them behaved badly — at least not from what I observed over Labor Day weekend at the first of two MetLife Stadium shows in New Jersey. Dare I say, I was impressed, moved, and, yes, surprised by all of the positive masculinity. Seemingly everywhere I went, there were happy, sensitive, emotional, and chivalrous men. At the merch stand; at the tequila bar. Even in the parking lot, where one jovial gentleman was handing out beers to passersby and inviting them to watch Sunday football on the big-screen TV he’d positioned on a folding table. “So much hugging, kissing, weeping among dudes, and not one bro tussle in the three shows I’ve been to,” Bob Ferguson, a New Jersey Gen X’er who heads up musician outreach for Oxfam, texted me after the Labor Day show at MetLife. (He also caught the two reunion shows in Toronto — Oasis’ first stop on this tour in North America.) “I’ve never seen so many solo dads with kids at a rock show, singing together like it’s the most natural family outing to be on the floor of a football stadium shouting out ‘I’m a rock & roll star!’ I love that the unlikely lads of Oasis might be causing some amazing social civility!” Civility was never the Brothers Gallagher’s strong suit. Rudeness was their reputation, and in the Nineties and 2000s, it was on full display in interviews (where they’d walk out mid-conversation, say something offensive, or mock the journalists) and at their own concerts (where Liam was known to spit beer at the audience). Older brother Noel was fond of throwing barbs at fellow musicians: Phil Collins was “a middle-of-the-road baldie,” Robbie Williams “the fat dancer from Take That,” and on and on. When INXS frontman Michael Hutchence presented Oasis a BRIT Award in 1996, Noel started his acceptance speech with “Has-beens shouldn’t be presenting awards …” The Gallaghers infamously and very publicly insulted each other too. After the band broke up in 2009, Liam spent years poking Noel on Twitter, labeling him “a potato” and “a sad little dwarf,” while Noel described Liam as “the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.” Now, 16 years after Noel ended Oasis in Paris — reportedly following a physical altercation backstage, during which Liam wielded a guitar like an ax — the brothers have made a point of starting each show by walking out onstage with their arms around each other. Hugs and kisses abound. Does time heal old wounds and soften even the hardest and naughtiest of rock stars? Some might say staging a comeback tour that stands to pull in a reported $1.6 billion helps. But Paul Adams, 54 — born and raised in Manchester, England, just like Noel and Liam — offers a little armchair psychology on the dynamic between the Gallaghers. “You have to understand, northern men are about as passionate as they come,” he says. “When you fall out with somebody in the north of England, it becomes part of your identity. It’s the clothes that you wear.… But it’s all bravado. The second their audience was removed, both of those men were filled with regret at this relationship that had seemingly ended, to the point where they probably don’t even remember why, but there was always a longing for reconciliation. So we can be cynical about the brothers coming out arm in arm, but actually, they need it.”  Jason Singer — a.k.a. Nashville-based singer-songwriter Michigander, who points to Oasis as “one of the reasons I make music” — thinks their fans need the reconciling too. “These shows are taking people back to a time when we weren’t so polarized as a society,” says Singer, 33, who saw one of the Chicago shows. You and I, we’re gonna live forever At my seat at MetLife, I made the acquaintance of those around me. They included two lifelong mates who generally ignored the band onstage in favor of singing nearly every lyric to each other. Nearby was a guy who was there with his fiancée and her parents. He’d specially chosen this night, this concert, for his first meeting with his future in-laws  (a brilliant move, since the white-haired, older couple seemed to be Oasis superfans). To my right were two brothers from the Bronx, Frank, 34, and Joseph, 27. I met the former when he asked if we could link arms to do the Poznań, a fan-favorite moment during “Cigarettes and Alcohol,” when Liam asks the audience to turn their backs to the stage and jump up and down. As with many of the fans I met that night, this wasn’t their first Oasis concert. Frank, a construction tradesman like his brother, said he’d never been overseas before, but when the announcement came that the group was reuniting and beginning the tour in the U.K., Joseph “texted me like crazy: ‘We have to go!’ When we were kids, my brother got into them because I was into

Celina Jaitly shares emotional note after filing domestic violence case against husband Peter Haag: “Life stripped everything away”

Entertainment Celina Jaitly, who recently made headlines after ANI reported that she has filed a domestic violence case against her husband Peter Haag, shared a deeply personal note on Instagram on Tuesday, reflecting on the turmoil she is navigating. According to ANI, the former actress has approached the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Andheri, seeking damages of Rs 50 crores along with compensation for alleged loss of income and property. Celina Jaitly shares emotional note after filing domestic violence case against husband Peter Haag: “Life stripped everything away” Hours after the news broke, Celina posted an emotional message on Instagram, describing the period as the “strongest, most turbulent storm” of her life. She wrote that she has been fighting without the support of her parents or a family structure, adding that she never imagined experiencing such solitude. “Life stripped everything away. People I trusted walked away. Promises I believed in broke in silence,” she said, before asserting that the ordeal has not crushed her but “delivered” her. Celina described finding new strength in herself, attributing her resilience to being “a soldier’s daughter” raised with discipline and grit. The actress said her current focus is fighting for her children, for her brother, and for her dignity. She confirmed that a domestic violence complaint has been filed “against all the atrocities and abandonment perpetrated” upon her. Celina expressed gratitude to her legal team at Karanjawala & Co., calling them the “shield” she needed during the crisis. As the matter is now sub judice, she requested media outlets to reach out to her lawyers — Sandeep Kapur, Niharika Karanjawala Misra, and Rytim Vohra Ahuja — for any official comments. Celina and businessman Peter Haag married in 2011. They welcomed twin boys in 2012, followed by another set of twins in 2017. One of the younger twins passed away shortly after birth due to a heart defect. The couple are currently parents to three children. Celina Jaitly files domestic violence case against husband Peter Haag: Report

Entertainment Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband, Austrian hotelier and entrepreneur Peter Haag, as reported by ANI. She approached a Mumbai court under the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, accusing Haag of domestic violence, cruelty, and manipulation. Following her petition, the court issued a formal notice to Haag. Further details regarding the allegations and the next hearings are awaited. Celina Jaitly files domestic violence case against husband Peter Haag: Report Celina Jaitly and Peter Haag married in 2011 in Austria. The couple welcomed twin sons in March 2012, marking a happy chapter in their marriage. In 2017, they became parents to another set of twin boys, but the family suffered a heartbreaking loss when one of the infants passed away due to a hypoplastic heart condition. Celina, known for films such as No Entry, Golmaal Returns, Thank You, Apna Sapna Money Money, and Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, has mostly stayed away from the public eye in recent years, making headlines only during significant personal moments. This domestic violence case comes shortly after another legal step taken by the actress. Last month, Celina approached a Delhi court seeking intervention regarding her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Jaitly. She alleged that he had been “illegally abducted and detained” in the United Arab Emirates, where he has lived since 2016. Vikrant Jaitly was associated with the MATITI Group, a company engaged in consultancy, trading, and risk management services. Celina claimed that the Ministry of External Affairs had been unable to provide basic information about his condition, legal status, or well-being since his reported detention in September 2024. The Delhi court later directed authorities to ensure that the family could contact him and facilitate communication between Vikrant, Celina, and his wife. These back-to-back legal developments have placed Celina and her family in the spotlight as they navigate ongoing personal and legal challenges. Rajkumar Hirani brings storytelling wisdom to IFFI, breaking down the art of writing and editing: “Writing imagines emotion, editing experiences it”

Entertainment Lights dimmed and anticipation filled the air at IFFI as audiences gathered for a masterclass that felt more like an energising creative session than a traditional workshop. When filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani arrived at the Kala Academy Hall, the atmosphere lifted instantly. By the end of the event, writers were jotting down ideas, editors were nodding in recognition, and cinephiles were visibly inspired. Rajkumar Hirani brings storytelling wisdom to IFFI, breaking down the art of writing and editing: “Writing imagines emotion, editing experiences it” Hirani shared practical insights and clear principles that have shaped his career. “Writing is emotion imagined; editing is emotion experienced. The writer writes the first draft, the editor the last. Theme is the soul of a film, while conflict is its oxygen,” he said, setting the tone for his session titled “Film is Made on Two Tables — Writing and Editing.” He described writing as a space of creative freedom—where skies are endless, actors are perfect, and no constraints exist. However, he emphasised that once this material reaches the editing table, reality reshapes it. According to him, a story truly begins only when a character wants something deeply, and conflict gives the narrative life. Rajkumar Hirani encouraged writers to draw from real experiences. “A good writer must pick triggers from life. Real experiences make stories unique and relatable,” he noted. He also reminded the audience that exposition should blend naturally into the drama and that the film’s theme should quietly guide every scene. Speaking with affection for his first craft—editing—Hirani highlighted the editor’s unseen influence. He explained that while the shot is the basic unit of editing, shifting its context can completely alter meaning. “An editor can flip a story 180 degrees,” he said, adding that their work often remains invisible but is central to holding a film together. Referencing early cinema, he recalled DW Griffith’s observation that a skilled editor shapes audience emotion. Hirani reinforced this idea with a line that echoed throughout the hall: “The writer writes the first draft. The editor writes the last.” He also underlined the importance of strong antagonists. “Every character believes they are right,” he said, stressing that the tension between opposing yet valid viewpoints creates the energy that drives a story. Screenwriter Abhijat Joshi joined the conversation, reflecting on the value of memory in storytelling. He explained that certain real-life moments—funny, painful, or surprising—stay with people for years and often hold more authenticity than purely invented scenes. He shared that many such memories helped shape 3 Idiots, from the electric-shock joke to subtle character traits inspired by people he had observed. Joshi concluded with essential screenwriting reminders: every character must want something meaningful, conflict fuels cinema, and the strongest drama arises when two genuine truths collide. Sharmila Tagore on missing out on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with Dharmendra, “I fell ill and couldn’t do the film”

Entertainment “We shared the same birthday. He was my co-star in seven films. I knew he was not keeping good health. But the news of his passing is still very saddening,” said Sharmila Tagore, who worked in films as far-ranging as Satyakam and Chupke Chupke with Dharmendra. Sharmila Tagore on missing out on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with Dharmendra, “I fell ill and couldn’t do the film” She reflected on their screen togetherness. “We first worked together in Devar and then during the same year in Anupama. Two very serious subjects, followed by an out-and-out commercial film Mere Humdum Mere Dost. Shooting with him was a breeze. He was as effortless on screen as he was off it. He was never ‘The Star’ on the sets, always his natural self. There was nothing put-on about him.” Sharmila Tagore recalled her first meeting with Dharmendra. “Before we worked together, we met when I was shooting with Yash Chopra’s Waqt. I don’t know in what context he was there. But I remember he was dressed… how shall I put it… not like a star at all. When someone complimented him, he hugged that person with such sincerity. That genuineness stayed with him.” Sharmila ji missed the opportunity to work with Dharamji in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. “I fell ill and couldn’t do the film. The last film we did together was Sunny, where he did a small guest appearance for his son Sunny (Deol)’s sake. I had spoken to him about a documentary, which a lady was making on me. She wanted to speak to Dharam ji. He, of course, said very good things about me. I wish we had more opportunities to interact.” She singled out Chupke Chupke as the highpoint of their collaboration. “Wherever I go, fans mention Chupke Chupke as their favourite. I am sure Dharmendra also got the same reaction from the public. When I was ill, I watched Chupke Chupke and laughed quite a lot. It is a rare comedy that continues to be funny over the years. We don’t make too many genuinely funny comedies.” Also Read: Throwback: Dharmendra once confessed that he was JEALOUS of Shah Rukh Khan: “Itni khoobsurat ladkiyon ke saath yeh romance kar raha hai! The new rendition brings together two of India’s most powerful contemporary voices Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh and is being positioned for a worldwide launch. A rare blend of charm, strength, and sensitivity, Dharmendra defined an era where action met emotion. His chemistry with Hema Malini both on and off screen remains one of Bollywood’s most iconic love stories. Legendary actor Dharmendra passes away at 89 Dharmendra’s first triumph in the entertainment world was through a talent hunt organized by Filmfare. This encouraged him to relocate to Mumbai to try his hand in films as a lead actor. Dharmendra got his first big break in Arjun Hingorani’s Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere (1960). But his first big hit came in the form of Shola Aur Shabnam (1961). He followed it up with Anpadh (1962) and Bimal Roy’s classic Bandini (1963). From here onwards, he went on to deliver timeless classics, including Haqeeqat, Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Satyakam, Anupama, Dharam Veer, and The Burning Train, each performance showcasing a different facet of his craft. Beyond his stardom, he was admired for his humility, warmth, and poetic soul. He is survived by his wife Hema Malini, sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, daughters Esha and Ahana Deol, and grandchildren. As tributes pour in from across the industry, the loss of Dharmendra marks the end of a golden chapter in Indian cinema. Team Bollywood Hungama extends heartfelt condolences to the Deol family. EXCLUSIVE: Dhurandhar makers opt for a low-key promotion strategy; Ranveer Singh to keep a low profile before release

Entertainment The much-awaited trailer of Dhurandhar was launched in a grand event held at Mumbai’s iconic Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. The event was graced not just by the film’s team and members of the media but also by nearly 2000 fans of lead actor Ranveer Singh. This has led to expectations among his admirers that Ranveer and others in the star cast, namely R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, will come out again for promotions in the days to come. However, Bollywood Hungama has learned that it’s not going to happen and there’s a solid reason behind this decision. EXCLUSIVE: Dhurandhar makers opt for a low-key promotion strategy; Ranveer Singh to keep a low profile before release A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers of the film, Jio Studios and B62 Studios, have decided to opt for a low-key promotional strategy. This means that Ranveer Singh would avoid appearances on TV shows. He won’t be going for any more big-scale events or promotional city tours and interviews either.” The source continued, “Ranveer Singh agreed with this decision and he wanted the same strategy as well. He had become overexposed during Cirkus (2022) and a few of his previous films. Hence, he wants to avoid that mistake and let the work do the talking. Thankfully, the film is quite garam – the teaser got viewers excited and the trailer has further enhanced the hype. After the release, they might decide to open up to the media.” An industry insider commented, “Sometimes, less is more. In recent times, we saw the no-promotional decision worked wonders for Saiyaara. Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat makers, too, remained absent from promotions and spoke about the film and went on a roadshow only after the film’s release. When you have the backing of impactful assets, this promotional tactic can work wonders.” Dhurandhar also stars Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna. It releases in cinemas on December 5. Blast from the past In January 2023, trade veteran Taran Adarsh, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, decoded what was going wrong with Ranveer Singh as far as his box office pull was concerned and why his contemporary Ranbir Kapoor was a bigger draw at the box office. He told Bollywood Hungama, “Ranbir Kapoor ki strategy ko main daad dena chahoonga. He is one actor who is not overexposed. Agar aap dekhenge toh har actor aaj ki tareekh mein apne airport looks de raha hai, ya release ke baad social media pe zinda rehne ki koshish karta hai. Lekin inhonein Brahmastra (2022) ke baad koi public outing mein zyada nazar nahin aate…This is what I like about Ranbir Kapoor and which is lacking in Ranveer Singh.” He continued, “Ranveer Singh ko aap har doosre din dekh rahe hain kisi ad mein, kisi photo session mein, alag-alag events mein jaa rahe hain. And then unki film aati hai and there is no excitement left. 70s and 80s ke actors ne apne kaam ko kahaa ki woh baat karega. Aaj ki tareekh mein aap itna overexpose ho gaye hain ki you are going wrong drastically. I think you need to cut down on your public appearances. That’s a big takeaway from 2022.” Also Read: Arjun Rampal credits Aditya Dhar for his ‘Angel of Death’ avatar in Dhurandhar; says, “Thanks to him for making us look so different and unrecognizable on screen” More Pages: Dhurandhar Box Office Collection BOLLYWOOD NEWS – LIVE UPDATES Catch us for latest Bollywood News, New Bollywood Movies update, Box office collection, New Movies Release , Bollywood News Hindi, Entertainment News, Bollywood Live News Today & Upcoming Movies 2025 and stay updated with latest hindi movies only on Bollywood Hungama.
