DHS: Ohio Man Faces Charges for Terroristic Threats Against ICE Agents

A man in Cincinnati, Ohio, is accused of making violent threats against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and a federal official online. The suspect is identified as Anthony Kelly, whom federal authorities recently took into custody, Fox News reported Saturday. In a social media post, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin shared screenshots of posts Kelly allegedly made. In one, it appears he wrote, “Thanks for giving We The People permission to shoot your #Gestapedos #TomHoman.” In another post, he appeared to threaten DHS Secretary Kristi Noem: “Anthony Kelly out of Cincinnati, OH has been taken into federal custody for making terroristic threats against ICE agents. Kelly will face federal charges for threatening to assault, kidnap, and murder a United States official,” McLaughlin’s post read. “During the search, HSI Cincinnati recovered one firearm and ammunition from his residence. Thank you to our law enforcement. These threats will not be tolerated. You will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” she added. The news comes not long after DHS reported a San Antonio City Council candidate was calling for the shooting of ICE agents in Los Angeles California, per Breitbart News, noting the man is a self-described Democrat political consultant. WATCH — “We Don’t F*** Around”: Anti-ICE Protest Turns into Bridge Brawl: In addition, a man from Jamestown, New York, was recently charged with threatening to kill an ICE agent and his children, according to Breitbart News: Following an investigation, federal prosecutors arrested and charged 43-year-old Matthew White of Jamestown with communicating interstate threats after he allegedly threatened ICE agents with murder on several occasions in social media posts. “The defendant stands accused of making vile threats against officers and agents who risk their lives every day to uphold an oath they swore to protect the public — even those who wish them harm. There is no place in our community for such hate against any human beings, including and especially innocent children,” ICE’s Erin Keegan said in a statement. The outlet also reported in June that ICE agents were facing a 500 percent rise in assaults as they worked to find and arrest illegal aliens across America, according to DHS data. Read More

Dershowitz: Ghislaine Maxwell Should Be Given Congressional Immunity to Testify

On this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz said convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell should be given immunity and be compelled to testify before a congressional committee about the Jeffrey Epstein files. Host Shannon Bream said, “You mentioned Ghislaine Maxwell. She’s still got an appeal. I’m tracking at the Supreme Court, but in the meantime, you suggest she should be potentially offered congressional immunity to go and testify. Do you think that would happen? And what kind of information would she have that we haven’t seen?” Dershowitz said, “She knows everything. She is the Rosetta Stone. She knows everything. She arranged every single trip with everybody. She knows everything. And if she would just given use of use immunity she could be compelled to testify.” He added, “I’m told that she actually would be willing to testify. And there would be no reason for her to withhold any information. So I don’t see any negative, in giving her, the kind of use immunity that would compel her to testify. So she would be summoned in front of a congressional committee.” Follow Pam Key on X @pamkeyNEN Read More

“We Stripped VW Golf, Rebuilt It Into Prototype Patrol Vehicle” : Inventor Of Armored Ezugwu MRAP Vehicle Explains

“We stripped a VW Golf, rebuilt it into a prototype patrol vehicle”, Armored vehicle inventor says in a chat with Punch Newspaper. Retired Major General Victor Ezugwu, in a chat with Punch Newspaper’s Naomi Chima, has explained some of innovations under his watch that led to the manufacture of the first Made-in-Nigeria Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, named Ezugwu MRAP. The former Nigerian Defence Industry of Nigeria (DICON) is known for developing the Ezugwu MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle in collaboration with the Nigerian Army’s Command Engineering Depot. First unveiled in September 2019, the Nigerian-made mine resistance and ambush protected vehicle (MRAP) was designed and manufactured by the Nigerian Defence Industry of Nigeria (DICON) and the Command Engineering Depot (CED). Following his appointment as the Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria in 2016, the then DICON Director-General said he challenged trained tradesmen that included mechanics and drivers to produce five patrol vehicles. “We stripped a Volkswagen Golf and rebuilt it into a prototype patrol vehicle. In six months, five functional vehicles were ready and paraded on the passing-out day,” he said, showcasing the capabilities of the team. “Gen. Buratai was impressed and asked me to lead the establishment of a military vehicle production outfit as the pioneer Group Managing Director.” While working in Kaduna, the them Major General Victor Ezugwu said he met Shedrack Agbo, who studied automobile engineering, and together they developed a working MRAP that was later named after him for his contributions. “Later, President Buhari gave approval for me to move to the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, where we produced the vehicle. I don’t take all the credit though. I worked with a team of smart, young engineers. I brought them together, mentored them, and led the process.” Ezugwu said over 30 units were produced and distributed, adding that the vehicles have been deployed in various operational theatres, including in Maiduguri, Adamawa, Sokoto, and Enugu, highlighting their effectiveness in the fight against insurgents. On what makes the Made-in-Nigeria Ezugwu MRAP unique, he said it is cost-effective, noting that a unit costs around N250 million, while similar foreign versions cost N900 million to N1 billion. He added that : “It is the first armoured vehicle locally produced by the Nigerian military since 1964. President Buhari approved it to be named after me.” “The MRAP is bulletproof and can withstand 7.62mm machine gun and AK-47 fire. It is also mine-resistant, with inbuilt mechanisms to neutralise explosive threats.” “It can move through water up to 20–30 metres deep. It has armoured windshields, advanced communication systems covering 10–16km, and surveillance cameras with a range of 2–5km.” See Also : FRSC Mobile App For Licence Renewal, Verification And Safety/Speed Limit Alerts Now Available For Download Read More

A Potential Comeback For The Chevrolet Camaro

General Motors discontinued the Chevrolet Camaro in 2024 with no successor in sight, but the model’s return is not out of the question. This is not the first time that production of the Camaro has been suspended. The model took a seven-year hiatus when General Motors ended production of the fourth generation in 2002, and then in 2009, the fifth-generation Camaro was introduced. While fans wait for the seventh generation (if it ever appears), the American media is dealing with the possibility of its return. Speaking to The Detroit News, General Motors President Mark Royce revealed some of the criteria for a potential future Camaro. Therefore, it would have to meet all the right conditions: beauty, functionality, and enjoyment. “I think that formula of beauty, a little bit of functionality and fun, that’s all important,” Royce said. “Going back to the Camaro, that part is essential.” A few months ago, Royce explained that it should be affordable in the ever-shrinking sports car segment. That could prompt General Motors to consider an electric Camaro. However, the auto giant may have learned from the mistakes of Stellantis, looking at the backlash it had to face when it introduced the electric car. With the departure of former CEO Carlos Tavares, Stellantis proved that it understood that Americans needed a HEMI engine and brought it back into the Ram lineup. In that case, why wouldn’t General Motors bring back the V8 Camaro? Read More: Chevrolet Says Its In No Hurry To Fully Electrify The Corvette As Thunderous V8 Remains Read More

An Unique V8 Variant Of The BMW 8 Series Makes History

BMW’s policy with its luxury flagships, the 6 Series and 8 Series, has been the subject of debate for decades. After rumors started a year ago about the shutdown of the current 8 Series to make way for the return of the 6 Series, it is now known that the “eight” is indeed nearing the end of its life. Production ends next year, but before the final farewell, BMW is cooking up a treat—a special edition arriving later this year that will likely be the last farewell to this elegant GT. Considering that the high-end M8 has already passed into history, the basis for the new special edition will be its “younger brother,” the powerful M850i. This information was confirmed by Frank van Meel, the head of the BMW M department, in a recent interview with the Bimmer Today portal. Expect exclusive equipment details, unique colors and accessories that will differentiate it from standard models. The changes under the hood are unlikely, but the M850i has nothing to be ashamed of anyway. Its 4.4-liter V8 turbo gasoline engine develops an impressive 530 horsepower, enough to propel the coupe version to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. Of course, exclusivity comes at a price—considering that the base M850i Coupe already costs over €85,000, the price of this limited edition model is likely to be high. —considering Frank van Meel hinted that the 8 Series is not the only surprise BMW has in store. “A few more things are being prepared,” he said cryptically, without going into details. However, there is no shortage of candidates for special series. One of the most obvious is the 3 Series, which celebrates its grand 50th anniversary this year. Along with it, the X5, X7 and Z4 models have also been on the market for a while in their current generations, so limited editions could serve as a great way to keep customers interested. The Z4 model, by the way, is expected to remain on offer until May 2026, when it will be discontinued. Also See: BMW Confirmed That A New Limited Edition Vehicle Is Being Developed Read More

Ben Barnes: Fallen hero Tim wants new start in ‘The Institute’

1 of 3 | New episodes of Ben Barnes’ “The Institute” air Sundays. Photo courtesy of MGM+ NEW YORK, July 20 (UPI) — Prince Caspian, Westworld and The Punisher alum Ben Barnes says Tim, the character he plays in the new supernatural drama, The Institute, is a troubled man seeking redemption by relocating to a small town in Maine and taking a job as a night watchman. “We meet him at quite a heavy moment in his life. He’s looking to kind of press re-start on his life. He used to be a police officer and he’s made some decisions which weigh really heavily on him and he feels very shameful about,” Barnes, 43, told UPI in a recent Zoom interview. “He’s lost a lot, including a marriage, because of it and I think he’s trying to find some peace in his life, and finds himself near this Institute, and something starts to not add up for him about this new community that he finds himself In and, so, he starts snooping and uncovering things and realizing, eventually, the full horror of what’s happening.” Based on the book by Stephen King, new episodes of the MGM+ show air Sundays and follow Luke (Freeman), a teen genius, who is kidnapped and awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did, possess unusual abilities and are told they are needed to save the world. “Luke is sort of at a crossroads,” said newcomer Freeman, the 19-year-old son of British acting royalty Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington. “He has MIT calling and a future ahead of him, but, also, he has everybody back in Minneapolis and he doesn’t want to let anybody down,” Freeman said of Luke. “So, I think he’s sort of living his best life as a 14-year-old. He’s got a brilliant opportunity ahead of him and, I’m sure, in his head, he’s thinking it will work itself out.” While they find themselves navigating unusual circumstances, Tim and Luke seem authentic, three-dimensional and easy for viewers to relate to. “It is probably easier for Tim at the beginning because he’s grounded in very real things. It’s sort of a quiet beginning for Tim,” Barnes said. “For Joe, to play a character who is sort of snatched up into such a horrific environment, to be so unsettled so fast into the show [is more challenging],” Barnes added. “But I think you’re always going to be rooting for the person who’s being treated in an unjust way and rooting for the person who’s trying to help that person and support that person, so I think we were helped by the structure of the story in that way.” Barnes went on to say the fact both characters have firm grips on their moral compasses also make them likable. “They know which way True North is and they know what’s right to stand up for and those are the things that they kind of really have in common,” Barnes added. “They can’t help but stand up for the things they think are right and I think once you start to sense that in someone, when you’re watching a show, you can’t help but be on their side.” King is famous for telling stories that are not just entertaining or disturbing, but that also explore important existential issues. The Institute, for example, takes a deep dive into concepts such as free will, authoritarianism and sacrifices required for a greater good. “There are lots of scenes where there are questions being asked that are not being answered and I think Stephen King is such a master of allegory — like using telepathy to signify communication or telekinesis to signify those sort of hidden powers that we all have, even the most vulnerable of us, to kind of be hopeful and to fight against unchecked systems,” Barnes said. Barnes, who has been professionally acting for more than 20 years, was ready to help Freeman if he needed anything, much the way Tim wanted to be there for Luke. “He’s just born to do this,” Barnes praised his co-star. “But [I wanted us] to be able to work through things together and discuss dynamics of the story or if he ever felt uncomfortable about situations, or committing to moments or whatever it might be,” Barnes added. “We became a good source of support for each other, through the course of filming, being the two Brits out there [in Nova Scotia], away from home for those months filming the show together.” The show co-stars Mary-Louise Parker, Robert Joy, Julian Richings and Martin Roach. Minneapolis mayor loses party endorsement for November election

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, right, pictured in 2023 during a press conference about an investigation into police conduct in the 2020 murder of George Floyd, lost the the Democratic party’s backing in this November’s mayoral election to state Sen. Omar Fateh. Photo by Craig Lassig/EPA July 20 (UPI) — The Minneapolis mayor during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests has lost the backing of the Democratic party to a Somali-American after a contested vote by members of the party. Omar Fateh, 35, a state Senator, won the mayoral endorsement over Jacob Frey, who has held the office since 2018. Fateh is the first Somali-American to serve in the state legislature since 2018 and received 60% of the delegates at the Minneapolis DFL convention Saturday, despite complaints from the Frey campaign about the election process. Frey took issue with electronic balloting at the convention, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and said he would appeal the vote. “This election should be decided by the entire city rather than the small group of people who became delegates, particularly in light of the extremely flawed and irregular conduct of this convention,” Frey’s campaign manager office said in a statement. “Voters will now have a clear choice between the records and leadership of Sen. Fateh and Mayor Frey. We look forward to taking our vision to the voters in November.” Frey was elected mayor in 2017 and again in 2021, and was in charge of Minneapolis during the 2020 BLM riots after George Floyd died at the hands of a white police officer.
