Grayscale Launches DeepBook and Walrus Trusts to Tap Sui Ecosystem Growth

The Grayscale DeepBook Trust and Grayscale Walrus Trust offer accredited investors direct exposure to two core Sui blockchain protocols. DeepBook has processed over US$10B (AU$15.35B) in trades, while Walrus raised US$140M (AU$214.84M) for scalable, privacy-focused on-chain data storage. Sui’s DeFi activity reached a record US$2.3B (AU$3.53B) TVL in July, with both tokens carrying volatility and technical risk warnings. Crypto asset manager Grayscale has launched two new single-asset trusts designed to give accredited investors direct exposure to DeepBook (DEEP) and Walrus (WAL), both native protocols of the Sui blockchain. Named the Grayscale DeepBook Trust and Grayscale Walrus Trust, the products will hold only DEEP and WAL tokens, respectively. The trusts can be subscribed to daily via private placement by eligible investors. Rayhaneh Sharif-Askary, Grayscale’s head of product and research, said the trusts “offer investors exposure to two key protocols driving innovation within the Sui ecosystem.” DeepBook and Walrus provide infrastructure designed for high-performance on-chain liquidity and data, helping power the next wave of scalable, real-world blockchain applications. Rayhaneh Sharif-Askary, Head of Product and Research at Grayscale Related: Grayscale: Bitcoin ETF Approval Is a ‘Matter of When, Not If’ Protocol capabilities DeepBook acts as a central limit order book within the Sui network, providing a liquidity foundation for decentralised finance services. It has processed more than US$10 billion (AU$15.35 billion) in trades.  Walrus is a data storage system built for on-chain scalability and privacy, with applications in gaming, social media, and AI data hosting. The Walrus Foundation raised US$140 million (AU$214.84 million) in March 2025. Since its May 2023 debut by Mysten Labs, Sui has been built to handle high transaction throughput and low latency through parallel processing. Its DeFi activity hit a record total value locked (TVL) of US$2.3 billion (AU$3.53 billion) on 28 July before dropping to US$2.2 billion (AU$3.37 billion). Grayscale warned that DEEP and WAL are relatively new and subject to significant risks, including extreme volatility and technical issues. At present, DEEP is valued at US$0.15 (AU$0.23) with a US$372 million (AU$570.88 million) market capitalisation, while WAL is priced at US$0.40 (AU$0.61) and capitalised at US$559 million (AU$857.84 million). Grayscale, founded in 2013, oversees more than US$35 billion (AU$53.71 billion) across a range of crypto investment products. Sharing her thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), Rupali emphasized her ongoing support for homeless animals and urged kindness and compassion over harsh measures. The Supreme Court’s order for mass confinement of street dogs in Delhi NCR has sparked outrage among animal welfare groups and concerned citizens alike, calling for more humane and effective alternatives such as sterilization and vaccination drives. The actress is no stranger to championing animal rights. In previous interviews, Rupali has shared her affection for dogs and her hands-on role in caring for them even during the shooting of her popular television show Anupama. She often encourages her fans and followers to adopt stray animals and treat them with love and respect. Rupali’s stand highlights the vital importance of empathy and responsibility toward street animals, emphasizing that kindness should be the foundation of any approach to urban stray management. As public discourse intensifies around this issue, many celebrities have come out and voiced powerful reminders that the welfare of homeless animals deserves attention, care, and thoughtful solutions — not just regulatory crackdowns.

A propos de Steven Spielberg Read More

For half a century, the program has marked the milestone sales and streaming accomplishments of artists in Canada – making the distinctive Gold and Platinum plaques the most recognizable symbol of commercial success in the music industry. Since 1975, the Gold & Platinum program has recognized popular music in Canada, providing a unique historical timeline of the music Canadians have loved over the past five decades. “As we look back on 50 years of the program’s history, you can see the impact and reach of songs that defined generations, hit singles that captured the culture of the day, and all the ways that different technologies have influenced how we consume the music of our lives,” says Patrick Rogers, CEO of Music Canada. “There is no greater benchmark of success than a Gold & Platinum certification, because it reflects what Canadians listen to and love.” In its first year, the program issued 27 Album and seven Physical Single certifications. As the industry continues to evolve, the Gold & Platinum program will grow alongside it and continue to celebrate the music that Canadians choose to listen to, wherever they choose to listen to it. 5 iOS 26 features that made updating my iPhone worthwhile (and how to try them)

Kerry Wan/ZDNET Apple has been busy prepping iOS 26 for its likely debut in September. Until then, the iPhone’s upcoming new OS has been accessible for anyone to try via a developer beta (now up to version 5) and the initial public beta. Though iOS 26 still has at least a month of tweaks before it’s finalized, the beta flavors already provide a peek at what to expect. You can download iOS 26 beta on your iPhone now. Here’s how to install it — and which models support it. Also: My biggest regret after updating my iPhone to iOS 26 (and how to fix it) I’ve been running the public beta since its release on July 24. Among the new and improved features in iOS 26, these are my five favorites so far. 1. Liquid Glass Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET Adding a new translucent design to the interface, Liquid Glass gives the impression that you’re looking at your screen elements through glass. With this new aesthetic enabled, icons appear more three-dimensional and layered, while menus are semi-transparent. I’ve read some negative comments about Liquid Glass, but I like the new design.  Also: The best MagSafe accessories of 2025 for your iPhone I feel the interface draws me in and engages with me in an artistic but practical way. Comparing my test iPhone with iOS 26 and my current phone with iOS 18, I can clearly see and appreciate the differences with Liquid Glass. 2. Camera app Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET For iOS 26, Apple tweaked the camera app to help you more quickly and easily access certain controls and settings. By default, the app shows you the two most common modes — photo and video. To segue to other modes such as portrait, pano, slow-mo, and time-lapse, swipe your finger left or right or press down on the control to move from one mode to another. Even better, the key settings are now more easily accessible and configurable. To display settings such as flash, exposure, filter, and timer, you can still swipe up from the bottom as always, or simply tap the button with the name of the mode. Up pops a Liquid Glass menu with icons for all the settings. Tap a specific icon to adjust it. Depending on your current mode, controls also appear at the top for you to view and adjust. 3. Photos app Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET With iOS 18, Apple altered the layout in the Photos app to display both your library and collections on the same screen. Though that may sound convenient, it upset many iPhone users who now have to swipe up and down to switch between the two views. With iOS 26, Apple has rectified that error. Also: Apple finally added my most-requested iPhone feature (and you’ll love it, too) Open the Photos app in the new OS and you’ll see two icons at the bottom — one for your Library and another for your Collections. By default, the app opens in Library view so you can easily scroll through all your photos or view them by year or month.  Tap the Collections icon and you’ll then see your photos organized by memories, albums, people, and other criteria. You can also reorder the different collections to place your favorite ones at the top of the screen. 4. Screen your calls Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET To help you better combat scam and spam calls, iOS 26 adds a helpful new option to the Phone app. You can now screen a call from an unknown number by asking the caller for certain information. Before you choose whether to pick up the call, the person on the other end is asked why they’re calling. That information then flashes on the screen to help you decide how to handle the call. Looking for the next best product? Get expert reviews and editor favorites with ZDNET Recommends. To enable this, head to Settings, select Apps, and then tap the Phone app. Swipe to the section for Screen Unknown Callers and tap the option for “Ask Reason for Calling.” The next time you receive a call from a stranger, the person will be prompted to explain why they’re calling. You can then answer or ignore the call. 5. Set your default apps Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET Apple hasn’t made it easy to change your default apps. In the past, you had to drill down to each app that you wanted to change or set. Now with iOS 26, you can choose all your default apps in one place. For this, go to Settings, select Apps, and then tap Default Apps. From here, you’re able to modify the defaults for email, messaging, calling, call filtering, browser, translator, passwords, contactless payments, and keyboard. See also Read More

WTI recovers to above $64.00, potential US-Russia talks in focus

WTI price rebounds to around $64.10 in Thursday’s early European session.  US crude stockpiles fell by 3.029 million barrels to 423.7 million in the week ending August 1. Potential US-Russia talks have tempered concerns about supply disruptions.  West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the US crude oil benchmark, is trading around $64.10 during the early Asian trading hours on Thursday. The WTI edges higher after a five-day drop on a bigger-than-expected draw in US crude inventories last week and lingering concerns over the economic fallout from US tariff measures. Oil traders will closely monitor the prospect of the US. -Russian talks.  A decline in US crude oil inventories last week suggests demand remains firm and provides some support to the WTI price. The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) Crude Oil Stockpiles report showed crude oil stockpiles in the US for the week ending August 1 fell by 3.029 million barrels, compared to a rise of 7.698 million barrels in the previous week. The market consensus estimated that stocks would decrease by 1.1 million barrels.  On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on Indian goods due to the nation’s Russian energy purchases. The new import tax will go into effect 21 days after August 7. Trump also stated that further tariffs on China, similar to the 25% duties announced earlier on India, were possible. “Tariffs are likely to harm the global economy, which will ultimately affect fuel demand,” said Phillip Nova’s senior market analyst, Priyanka Sachdeva, adding that markets are overlooking the fact that their impact will still be much greater on the US economy and inflation. A White House official said on Wednesday that Trump could potentially meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin as early as next week. Trump said there was a “very good chance” he would meet soon with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Potential US-Russia talks regarding the Ukraine conflict have tempered concerns about supply disruptions, which might cap the WTI’s upside.  WTI Oil FAQs WTI Oil is a type of Crude Oil sold on international markets. The WTI stands for West Texas Intermediate, one of three major types including Brent and Dubai Crude. WTI is also referred to as “light” and “sweet” because of its relatively low gravity and sulfur content respectively. It is considered a high quality Oil that is easily refined. It is sourced in the United States and distributed via the Cushing hub, which is considered “The Pipeline Crossroads of the World”. It is a benchmark for the Oil market and WTI price is frequently quoted in the media. Like all assets, supply and demand are the key drivers of WTI Oil price. As such, global growth can be a driver of increased demand and vice versa for weak global growth. Political instability, wars, and sanctions can disrupt supply and impact prices. The decisions of OPEC, a group of major Oil-producing countries, is another key driver of price. The value of the US Dollar influences the price of WTI Crude Oil, since Oil is predominantly traded in US Dollars, thus a weaker US Dollar can make Oil more affordable and vice versa. The weekly Oil inventory reports published by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Energy Information Agency (EIA) impact the price of WTI Oil. Changes in inventories reflect fluctuating supply and demand. If the data shows a drop in inventories it can indicate increased demand, pushing up Oil price. Higher inventories can reflect increased supply, pushing down prices. API’s report is published every Tuesday and EIA’s the day after. Their results are usually similar, falling within 1% of each other 75% of the time. The EIA data is considered more reliable, since it is a government agency. OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) is a group of 12 Oil-producing nations who collectively decide production quotas for member countries at twice-yearly meetings. Their decisions often impact WTI Oil prices. When OPEC decides to lower quotas, it can tighten supply, pushing up Oil prices. When OPEC increases production, it has the opposite effect. OPEC+ refers to an expanded group that includes ten extra non-OPEC members, the most notable of which is Russia.
