Rupali Ganguly speaks out against mass confinement of street dogs; shares heartfelt support for animals

Entertainment Actress Rupali Ganguly has once again shown her deep commitment to animal welfare, posting a heartfelt message in response to the recent news about the Supreme Court-backed directive calling for the mass confinement of street dogs in Delhi NCR. Sharing her thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), Rupali emphasized her ongoing support for homeless animals and urged kindness and compassion over harsh measures. Rupali Ganguly speaks out against mass confinement of street dogs; shares heartfelt support for animals “I feed the homeless animals on a daily basis … every animal I feed has been regularly vaccinated and sterilized…. I support animal shelters and gaushalas … not only in my city but all over India … m a proud vegetarian… and I support the homeless fur babies …. I do not have a single elite breed at home instead have 4 indies …. My child has been with so called stray animals since he was a baby and even an animal who had not known him before has protected him,” Rupali wrote in her post. She continued, “They understand love and kindness which humans fail to understand. This earth belongs to all.” I feed the homeless animals on a daily basis … every animal I feed has been regularly vaccinated and sterilized…. I donot have a… — Rupali Ganguly (@TheRupali) August 12, 2025 Rupali Ganguly’s message resonates strongly with animal lovers and advocates, especially given the growing debates around how to manage stray dog populations in urban India. The Supreme Court’s order for mass confinement of street dogs in Delhi NCR has sparked outrage among animal welfare groups and concerned citizens alike, calling for more humane and effective alternatives such as sterilization and vaccination drives. The actress is no stranger to championing animal rights. In previous interviews, Rupali has shared her affection for dogs and her hands-on role in caring for them even during the shooting of her popular television show Anupama. She often encourages her fans and followers to adopt stray animals and treat them with love and respect. Rupali’s stand highlights the vital importance of empathy and responsibility toward street animals, emphasizing that kindness should be the foundation of any approach to urban stray management. As public discourse intensifies around this issue, many celebrities have come out and voiced powerful reminders that the welfare of homeless animals deserves attention, care, and thoughtful solutions — not just regulatory crackdowns.

A propos de Steven Spielberg Read More

5 iOS 26 features that made updating my iPhone worthwhile (and how to try them)

Kerry Wan/ZDNET Apple has been busy prepping iOS 26 for its likely debut in September. Until then, the iPhone’s upcoming new OS has been accessible for anyone to try via a developer beta (now up to version 5) and the initial public beta. Though iOS 26 still has at least a month of tweaks before it’s finalized, the beta flavors already provide a peek at what to expect. You can download iOS 26 beta on your iPhone now. Here’s how to install it — and which models support it. Also: My biggest regret after updating my iPhone to iOS 26 (and how to fix it) I’ve been running the public beta since its release on July 24. Among the new and improved features in iOS 26, these are my five favorites so far. 1. Liquid Glass Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET Adding a new translucent design to the interface, Liquid Glass gives the impression that you’re looking at your screen elements through glass. With this new aesthetic enabled, icons appear more three-dimensional and layered, while menus are semi-transparent. I’ve read some negative comments about Liquid Glass, but I like the new design.  Also: The best MagSafe accessories of 2025 for your iPhone I feel the interface draws me in and engages with me in an artistic but practical way. Comparing my test iPhone with iOS 26 and my current phone with iOS 18, I can clearly see and appreciate the differences with Liquid Glass. 2. Camera app Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET For iOS 26, Apple tweaked the camera app to help you more quickly and easily access certain controls and settings. By default, the app shows you the two most common modes — photo and video. To segue to other modes such as portrait, pano, slow-mo, and time-lapse, swipe your finger left or right or press down on the control to move from one mode to another. Even better, the key settings are now more easily accessible and configurable. To display settings such as flash, exposure, filter, and timer, you can still swipe up from the bottom as always, or simply tap the button with the name of the mode. Up pops a Liquid Glass menu with icons for all the settings. Tap a specific icon to adjust it. Depending on your current mode, controls also appear at the top for you to view and adjust. 3. Photos app Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET With iOS 18, Apple altered the layout in the Photos app to display both your library and collections on the same screen. Though that may sound convenient, it upset many iPhone users who now have to swipe up and down to switch between the two views. With iOS 26, Apple has rectified that error. Also: Apple finally added my most-requested iPhone feature (and you’ll love it, too) Open the Photos app in the new OS and you’ll see two icons at the bottom — one for your Library and another for your Collections. By default, the app opens in Library view so you can easily scroll through all your photos or view them by year or month.  Tap the Collections icon and you’ll then see your photos organized by memories, albums, people, and other criteria. You can also reorder the different collections to place your favorite ones at the top of the screen. 4. Screen your calls Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET To help you better combat scam and spam calls, iOS 26 adds a helpful new option to the Phone app. You can now screen a call from an unknown number by asking the caller for certain information. Before you choose whether to pick up the call, the person on the other end is asked why they’re calling. That information then flashes on the screen to help you decide how to handle the call. Looking for the next best product? Get expert reviews and editor favorites with ZDNET Recommends. To enable this, head to Settings, select Apps, and then tap the Phone app. Swipe to the section for Screen Unknown Callers and tap the option for “Ask Reason for Calling.” The next time you receive a call from a stranger, the person will be prompted to explain why they’re calling. You can then answer or ignore the call. 5. Set your default apps Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNET Apple hasn’t made it easy to change your default apps. In the past, you had to drill down to each app that you wanted to change or set. Now with iOS 26, you can choose all your default apps in one place. For this, go to Settings, select Apps, and then tap Default Apps. From here, you’re able to modify the defaults for email, messaging, calling, call filtering, browser, translator, passwords, contactless payments, and keyboard. See also Read More

WTI recovers to above $64.00, potential US-Russia talks in focus

WTI price rebounds to around $64.10 in Thursday’s early European session.  US crude stockpiles fell by 3.029 million barrels to 423.7 million in the week ending August 1. Potential US-Russia talks have tempered concerns about supply disruptions.  West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the US crude oil benchmark, is trading around $64.10 during the early Asian trading hours on Thursday. The WTI edges higher after a five-day drop on a bigger-than-expected draw in US crude inventories last week and lingering concerns over the economic fallout from US tariff measures. Oil traders will closely monitor the prospect of the US. -Russian talks.  A decline in US crude oil inventories last week suggests demand remains firm and provides some support to the WTI price. The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) Crude Oil Stockpiles report showed crude oil stockpiles in the US for the week ending August 1 fell by 3.029 million barrels, compared to a rise of 7.698 million barrels in the previous week. The market consensus estimated that stocks would decrease by 1.1 million barrels.  On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on Indian goods due to the nation’s Russian energy purchases. The new import tax will go into effect 21 days after August 7. Trump also stated that further tariffs on China, similar to the 25% duties announced earlier on India, were possible. “Tariffs are likely to harm the global economy, which will ultimately affect fuel demand,” said Phillip Nova’s senior market analyst, Priyanka Sachdeva, adding that markets are overlooking the fact that their impact will still be much greater on the US economy and inflation. A White House official said on Wednesday that Trump could potentially meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin as early as next week. Trump said there was a “very good chance” he would meet soon with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Potential US-Russia talks regarding the Ukraine conflict have tempered concerns about supply disruptions, which might cap the WTI’s upside.  WTI Oil FAQs WTI Oil is a type of Crude Oil sold on international markets. The WTI stands for West Texas Intermediate, one of three major types including Brent and Dubai Crude. WTI is also referred to as “light” and “sweet” because of its relatively low gravity and sulfur content respectively. It is considered a high quality Oil that is easily refined. It is sourced in the United States and distributed via the Cushing hub, which is considered “The Pipeline Crossroads of the World”. It is a benchmark for the Oil market and WTI price is frequently quoted in the media. Like all assets, supply and demand are the key drivers of WTI Oil price. As such, global growth can be a driver of increased demand and vice versa for weak global growth. Political instability, wars, and sanctions can disrupt supply and impact prices. The decisions of OPEC, a group of major Oil-producing countries, is another key driver of price. The value of the US Dollar influences the price of WTI Crude Oil, since Oil is predominantly traded in US Dollars, thus a weaker US Dollar can make Oil more affordable and vice versa. The weekly Oil inventory reports published by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Energy Information Agency (EIA) impact the price of WTI Oil. Changes in inventories reflect fluctuating supply and demand. If the data shows a drop in inventories it can indicate increased demand, pushing up Oil price. Higher inventories can reflect increased supply, pushing down prices. API’s report is published every Tuesday and EIA’s the day after. Their results are usually similar, falling within 1% of each other 75% of the time. The EIA data is considered more reliable, since it is a government agency. OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) is a group of 12 Oil-producing nations who collectively decide production quotas for member countries at twice-yearly meetings. Their decisions often impact WTI Oil prices. When OPEC decides to lower quotas, it can tighten supply, pushing up Oil prices. When OPEC increases production, it has the opposite effect. OPEC+ refers to an expanded group that includes ten extra non-OPEC members, the most notable of which is Russia. The Hottest ZIP Codes of 2025: What Real Estate Agents Need to Know

The real estate landscape is shifting, and the 2025 Hottest ZIP Codes report from Realtor.com reveals crucial insights about where buyer demand is strongest. For real estate agents, understanding these trends isn’t just about keeping up with the market—it’s about positioning yourself strategically to serve clients who are increasingly selective, financially prepared, and focused on value over simple affordability. This year’s data shows markets defined by rapid sales, intense competition, and buyers who know exactly what they want. Beverly, Massachusetts (ZIP 01915) claimed the top spot, but the broader story extends far beyond a single ZIP code. The patterns emerging from this year’s hottest markets provide a roadmap for agents looking to understand where opportunities lie and how buyer behavior is evolving. Understanding the 2025 Market Dynamics Northeast and Midwest Dominance Continues For the third consecutive year, the South and West were completely absent from the top 10 list. Instead, the Northeast and Midwest dominated, with Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Ohio each contributing two ZIP codes to the rankings. This regional concentration reflects persistent supply constraints in these areas, creating opportunities for agents who understand how to navigate competitive markets. Listings in these top ZIP codes received between 3.3 and 5.2 times the views compared to the national average, while homes sold 30 to 42 days faster than the typical U.S. home. Inventory Remains Critically Low While national housing inventory was 28.9% higher year-over-year in June 2025, the hottest ZIP codes tell a different story. These markets averaged inventory levels 58.9% below 2019 levels—significantly more constrained than the national average of 12.9% below pre-pandemic norms. This scarcity is driving the urgency that defines these markets. Buyers face fewer choices, leading to faster decision-making and more competitive bidding situations that agents must be prepared to handle. The Value-Seeking Buyer Profile Relative Affordability Trumps Absolute Price One of the most significant insights from this year’s data is how buyers are approaching affordability. Seven of the top 10 ZIP codes had median listing prices above the national average of $441,000, yet six were more affordable than their surrounding metro areas. This represents a fundamental shift in buyer psychology. Clients aren’t just looking for the cheapest option—they’re seeking value within their preferred regions. Beverly, Massachusetts, for example, had a median listing price of $719,000, more than $250,000 above the national norm, but nearly 16% below the Boston metro average. High-Income Buyers Drive Demand The buyer profile in these hot markets is distinctly different from national averages. The typical household income in these ZIP codes was $114,000, well above the national average of $79,000. Credit scores averaged 759 versus 748 nationwide, and down payments ranged from $42,000 to $143,000, compared to the national norm of $30,000. These zip codes are predominantly older (average age 56 versus 54 nationally), which could mean interested buyers lean older. Equity-rich buyers have the upper-hand in today’s market, suggesting many shoppers in these ZIPs are move-up buyers rather than first-time purchasers. Geographic and Demographic Trends Big-City Exodus Patterns Much of the viewership in these hot ZIP codes came from major metropolitan areas. New York City was the top out-of-metro source for three ZIP codes, Boston for four, and Washington, D.C. for two. Households in these metros earn an average 50% more than the national median, bringing strong financial credentials to competitive markets. Only three ZIP codes (01915 in Boston metro, 63021 in St. Louis, and 07470 in New York City metro) saw more within-metro viewership than out-of-metro interest, indicating significant migration patterns that agents should understand. Suburban Appeal with Urban Access All top ZIP codes in 2025 shared a common characteristic: suburban environments with strong ties to major metros. These neighborhoods offer more space and lifestyle flexibility while maintaining commuting access—a formula that’s proving irresistible to today’s buyers. In six of the ten hottest ZIP codes, homes were notably larger than their metro area averages. ZIP 44149 in Cleveland featured homes 40.8% larger than the metro norm, while ZIP 07470 in the New York City metro offered homes 46.3% larger than typical. Beverly, MA: A Case Study in Market Excellence Beverly, Massachusetts exemplifies the trends driving this year’s hottest markets. Despite its $719,000 median listing price, the area attracted intense buyer interest because it offered: Coastal charm with commuter rail access to Boston Nearly 16% savings compared to the Boston metro average Just 16 days on market Nearly five times more listing views than the national average Beverly’s success demonstrates how high prices don’t necessarily deter buyers when location, lifestyle, and relative value align effectively. Market Consistency and Emerging Patterns Familiar Markets, New Opportunities Two of this year’s ZIP codes and nine metro areas have appeared on previous hottest ZIP lists, indicating market consistency that agents can leverage for long-term planning. However, eight ZIP codes are new to the list, suggesting evolving opportunities within established hot markets. Columbus, Ohio, notably dropped from previous top rankings to number 10 in 2025, while Cleveland (ZIP 44149) appeared for the first time as both a new ZIP and metro area. Action Items for Real Estate Agents 1. Adjust Your Marketing Strategy Focus on relative value propositions rather than absolute affordability. Help clients understand how properties compare to their metro area averages, not just national norms. Develop materials that highlight cost savings within expensive markets. 2. Prepare for Fast-Moving Markets In hot ZIP codes, homes sell 30-42 days faster than average. Streamline your processes, maintain ready access to preferred vendors, and educate clients about the need for quick decision-making. Consider implementing systems for rapid response to new listings. 3. Understand Migration Patterns Track where your market’s buyers are coming from. If you’re in a hot ZIP code, understand which major metros are sending buyers your way. If you’re in a major metro, identify which suburban areas are attracting your clients. 4. Emphasize Lifestyle and Location Benefits Buyers in hot markets aren’t just purchasing homes—they’re investing in lifestyle changes. Develop expertise in highlighting commuting options, local amenities, school districts, and community features that
