Delhi: Yamuna river breaches warning level, advisory issued

Amid the incessant rains in the northern regions of India, the Yamuna river in New Delhi crossed the warning level, reaching the mark of 204.60 metre at 7 pm on Sunday at the Old Railway Bridge, PTI quoted officials as informing on Sunday. The report added that the warning mark for the city is 204.50 metres, while the danger mark is 205.33 metres, and evacuation of people starts at 206 metres. As per the details, the Old Railway Bridge serves as a key observation point for tracking the river’s flow and potential flood risks. Reacting to the situation, officials said that they are monitoring it and all the concerned agencies have been asked to take precautionary measures to handle flood like situation as the level will continue to rise as per the forecast. “In view of the quantity of water released from Hathnikund Barrage today, 17th August, and heavy rainfall in the Upper Yamuna area, it is informed that the water level at Delhi Railway Bridge may cross 206.00 around 02 AM on 19th August, 2025,” the advisory by the flood control department said. “The reason for the increase in level is mostly due to the high volumes of water released from the Wazirabad and Hathnikund barrages every hour,” an official from the central flood room said. According to the flood control department, the Hathnikund barrage is releasing around 127,030 cusecs of water, highest this season, and Wazirabad is releasing 45,620 cusecs of water, every hour. Typically, water released from the barrages takes 48 to 50 hours to reach Delhi. But lower discharges from upstream are raising the water level, nearing the warning mark in Delhi. Officials said that the water level reached the mark of 204.65 metres at 1 pm on Friday and 205.11 metres on Saturday. With agency inputs. Read More

Trump-Putin talks produced enough movement to justify Ukraine meeting, Rubio says

HomeWorld NewsTrump-Putin talks produced enough movement to justify Ukraine meeting, Rubio says US President Trump and Russian leader Putin’s talks show progress, says US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. European leaders to meet Trump and Zelenskiy in Washington. By Reuters August 17, 2025, 9:08:13 PM IST (Published) Talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin produced enough movement to justify a meeting with Ukrainian and European leaders, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told CBS on Sunday (August 17). Rubio also said both Russia and Ukraine would have to make concessions to end the war, adding that the United States might not be able to produce a scenario guaranteeing peace. European leaders will accompany Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to meet Trump in Washington on Monday, seeking to bolster him as the president presses Ukraine to accept a quick peace deal after meeting Putin on Friday. ”I’m not saying we’re on the verge of a peace deal, but I am saying that we saw movement, enough movement to justify a follow-up meeting with Zelensky and the Europeans,” Rubio told the ”Face the Nation” show. Rubio’s comments were among the first by senior US officials present at the talks with Putin. In a social media post, Trump wrote, ”BIG PROGRESS ON RUSSIA. STAY TUNED!” he gave no details Speaking separately to Fox News’ ”Sunday Morning Futures” program, Rubio said the talks had narrowed down the key issues. These included drawing borders, long-term security guarantees for Kyiv, and which military alliances Ukraine could have, he said, adding ”there’s a lot of work that remains.” Putin has ruled out Ukraine becoming a member of NATO. Article 5 of the alliance’s charter is a mutual defence pact obliging allies to defend a member from attacks. Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy to Russia, told CNN that the US side had won ”the concession that the United States could offer Article Five-like protection.” Pressed for details, he said, ”the United States is potentially prepared to be able to give Article Five security guarantees, but not from NATO, directly from the United States, and other European countries.” This would be one of the topics for discussion on Monday, he said. According to sources, Trump and Putin discussed proposals for Russia to relinquish tiny pockets of occupied Ukraine in exchange for Ukraine ceding a swathe of fortified land in the east and freezing the front lines elsewhere. ”We may not like it, it may not be pleasant, it may be distasteful, but in order for there to be an end of the war, there are things Russia wants that it cannot get, and there are things Ukraine wants that it’s not going to get,” said Rubio. In a separate interview with ABC, Rubio said if a deal could not be reached to end the war, existing US sanctions on Russia would continue, and more could be added. When Zelensky visited the White House in February, the meeting ended in a shouting match. Rubio, speaking to CBS, dismissed the idea that the European leaders were coming to Washington to protect Zelensky. ”They’re not coming here tomorrow to keep Zelensky from being bullied. They’re coming here tomorrow because we’ve been working with the Europeans,” he said. ”We invited them to come.” Also Read: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to meet PM Modi during 2-day India visit Read More

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to meet PM Modi during 2-day India visit

HomeIndia NewsChinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to meet PM Modi during 2-day India visit Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet PM Narendra Modi during his visit to India, discussing key issues like border situation and trade. By PTI August 17, 2025, 8:47:22 PM IST (Published) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day visit to India beginning Monday (August 18), according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The meeting, to be held on Tuesday, assumes significance as it is taking place days before Modi’s planned trip to China to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Before calling on the prime minister, Wang will hold separate talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval that could see both sides deliberate on a range of key issues including border situation, trade and resumption of flight services. The Chinese foreign minister’s visit is largely seen as part of ongoing efforts by the two neighbours to rebuild their relationship after it came under severe strain following the deadly Galwan Valley clashes in 2020. The two sides are expected to discuss new confidence-building measures for durable peace and tranquillity along their contested border during Wang’s visit, people familiar with the matter said on Sunday. Wang’s trip is also seen as important as it comes amid increasing tensions in India-US relations following President Donald Trump doubling tariffs on Indian goods to 50% that included an additional penalty of 25% for purchasing Russian crude oil. Also Read: BJP names CP Radhakrishnan as NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate According to details released by the MEA, the Chinese foreign minister will land in New Delhi at around 4:15 pm on Monday. He will meet Jaishankar for bilateral talks at around 6 pm. Wang and NSA Doval are scheduled to hold a new edition of Special Representatives (SR) dialogue on the boundary question at 11 am on Tuesday. According to the MEA, Wang will call on PM Modi at his 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence at 5:30 pm on Tuesday. The Chinese foreign minister will be in India primarily to hold the 24th round of SR dialogue with NSA Doval. Wang and Doval are the designated special representatives for the boundary talks. Both sides are expected to deliberate on new confidence-building measures besides reviewing the overall situation along the Line of Actual Control, the people cited above said. Though the two sides disengaged troops from the friction points, they are yet to de-escalate the situation by pulling back the frontline forces from the border. Each side currently has around 50,000 to 60,000 troops along the LAC in the eastern Ladakh region. The Chinese foreign minister will also meet External Affairs Minister Jaishankar. It is learnt that the two sides will also use the opportunity to lay the ground for Prime Minister Modi’s visit to China to attend the annual summit of the SCO to be held on August 31 and September 1. As per the plan, the prime minister will embark on a visit to Japan around August 29 and after concluding the trip, he will travel to the northern Chinese city of Tianjin for the SCO summit. Modi’s visit to China is being planned amid efforts by the two sides to repair their bilateral ties which came under severe strain following the deadly clashes between Indian and Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in June 2020. NSA Doval travelled to China in December last and held the SR talks with Wang, weeks after Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping decided to revive various dialogue mechanisms between the two sides at a meeting in the Russian city of Kazan. The military standoff in eastern Ladakh began in May 2020 and the clashes at the Galwan Valley in June that year resulted in a severe strain in bilateral ties. The face-off effectively ended following completion of the disengagement process from the last two friction points of Demchok and Depsang under an agreement finalised on October 21 last year. The decision to revive various dialogue mechanisms was taken at a meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi in Kazan on October 23, 2024. The Modi-Xi meeting came two days after India and China firmed up a disengagement pact for Depsang and Demchok. The two sides also initiated a number of initiatives to rebuild the ties that included resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and New Delhi restarting issuance of tourist visas to Chinese nationals. Both sides are also discussing modalities to resume direct flight services between the two countries. The flight services between the two sides were suspended following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It was not restored in view of the border row. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar visited China in the last two months to attend SCO meetings. China is the current chair of the SCO. Also Read: Putin agreed to let US, Europe offer NATO-style security protections for Ukraine, Trump envoy says Read More

BJP names CP Radhakrishnan as NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate

The BJP has named Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as the NDA’s candidate for the September 9 Vice Presidential election, following Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation. By CNBCTV18.com August 17, 2025, 8:29:28 PM IST (Published) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday (August 17) announced Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) candidate for the upcoming Vice Presidential election scheduled for September 9. His name was finalised at the BJP Parliamentary board meeting held at the party headquarters. “We want the next Vice President to be elected unanimously. We have reached out to opposition leaders,” BJP president JP Nadda said, while announcing the candidature. “CP Radhakrishnan, considered a statesman, commands respect across all sections of society in Tamil Nadu,” he added. The NDA had authorised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nadda to finalise the alliance candidate. The decision comes after the abrupt resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on July 21 during the Parliament session. Dhankhar cited health reasons, though the opposition claimed differences with the government prompted the move. With a comfortable majority in the electoral college comprising Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, the NDA is set for an easy win if the election is contested. The opposition INDIA bloc is expected to deliberate on fielding its candidate in a meeting scheduled for August 18. Meanwhile, all NDA chief ministers and deputy chief ministers have been called to Delhi on August 21 for the nomination filing. Born on October 20, 1957, in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, Chandrapuram Ponnuswamy Radhakrishnan has been a long-serving BJP leader. He was elected twice to the Lok Sabha from Coimbatore (1998, 1999) and also served as BJP’s Tamil Nadu state president from 2003 to 2006. Over the years, he has held several gubernatorial posts. Radhakrishnan took charge as Governor of Maharashtra in July 2024, after serving as Jharkhand Governor (2023–2024). He also held additional responsibilities as Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry in 2024. Putin agreed to let US, Europe offer NATO-style security protections for Ukraine, Trump envoy says

HomeWorld NewsPutin agreed to let US, Europe offer NATO-style security protections for Ukraine, Trump envoy says Steve Witkoff announced that Putin agreed to allow the US and European allies to offer Ukraine security guarantees similar to NATO’s Article 5. By AP August 17, 2025, 8:08:16 PM IST (Published) Special US envoy Steve Witkoff said Sunday (August 17) that Russian leader Vladimir Putin agreed at his summit with President Donald Trump to allow the US and European allies to offer Ukraine a security guarantee resembling NATO’s collective defense mandate as part of an eventual deal to end the 3 1/2-year war. “We were able to win the following concession: That the United States could offer Article 5-like protection, which is one of the real reasons why Ukraine wants to be in NATO,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” He added that it “was the first time we had ever heard the Russians agree to that.” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at a news conference in Brussels with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that “we welcome President Trump’s willingness to contribute to Article 5-like security guarantees for Ukraine. and the ‘Coalition of the willing’ — including the European Union — is ready to do its share.” Witkoff, offering some of the first details of what was discussed at Friday’s summit in Alaska, said the two sides agreeing to “robust security guarantees that I would describe as game-changing.” He added that Russia said that it would make a legislative commitment not to go after any additional territory in Ukraine. Zelenskyy thanked the United States for recent signals that Washington is willing to support security guarantees for Ukraine, but said the details remained unclear. “It is important that America agrees to work with Europe to provide security guarantees for Ukraine,” he said, “But there are no details how it will work, and what America’s role will be, Europe’s role will be and what the EU can do, and this is our main task, we need security to work in practice like Article 5 of NATO, and we consider EU accession to be part of the security guarantees.” Witkoff defended Trump’s decision to abandon his push for Russian to agree to an immediate ceasefire, saying the president had pivoted toward a peace deal because so much progress was made. Also Read: US stops issuing visitor visas for people from Gaza: Report “We covered almost all the other issues necessary for a peace deal,” Witkoff said, without elaborating. “We began to see some moderation in the way they’re thinking about getting to a final peace deal,” he said. Secretary of State Marco Rubio insisted there would be “additional consequences” as Trump warned before meeting with Putin, if they failed to reach a ceasefire. But Rubio noted that there wasn’t going to be any sort of deal on a truce reached when Ukraine wasn’t at the talks. “Now, ultimately, if there isn’t a peace agreement, if there isn’t an end of this war, the president’s been clear, there are going to be consequences,” Rubio said on ABC’s “This Week.” “But we’re trying to avoid that. And the way we’re trying to avoid those consequences is with an even better consequence, which is peace, the end of hostilities.” Rubio, who is also Trump’s national security adviser, said he did not believe issuing new sanctions on Russia would force Putin to accept a ceasefire, noting that the latter isn’t off the table but that “the best way to end this conflict is through a full peace deal.” “The minute you issue new sanctions, your ability to get them to the table, our ability to get them to table will be severely diminished,” Rubio said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” He also said “we’re not at the precipice of a peace agreement” and that getting there would not be easy and would take a lot of work. “We made progress in the sense that we identified potential areas of agreement, but there remains some big areas of disagreement. So we’re still a long ways off,” Rubio said. Zelenskyy and Europeans leaders are scheduled to meet Monday with Trump at the White House. They heard from the president after his meeting with Putin. “I think everybody agreed that we had made progress. Maybe not enough for a peace deal, but we are on the path for the first time,” Witkoff said. He added: “The fundamental issue, which is some sort of land swap, which is obviously ultimately in the control of the Ukrainians — that could not have been discussed at this meeting” with Putin. “We intend to discuss it on Monday. Hopefully we have some clarity on it and hopefully that ends up in a peace deal very, very soon.” Also Read: UK PM Keir Starmer joins ‘Coalition of the Willing’ talks over Russia-Ukraine conflict Read More

How Ozak AI Could Turn $1,000 Into $100K: Expert Insights vs. Cardano and Ethereum

Ozak AI is a new blockchain project that combines AI with decentralized infrastructure and the presale is structured so you can get in early at a fraction of the price. As the value of the tokens rises in every stage, the equation to convert $1,000 to $100K becomes apparent. Comparisons are being drawn between this growth window and Ethereum and Cardano, pointing out stage, scale and upside differences between them. The Mechanics Behind the 100x Potential The Ozak AI architecture is designed with precision, security and accessibility in mind. The Ozak Stream Network stores information in real time, and the Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks securely replicate it on many machines. Data is reliably stored in Ozak Data Vaults, and Prediction Agents enable users to build AI models without coding. The ecosystem is powered by the OZ token, which allows transactions, customization of Prediction Agents, voting and rewards. The supply has a fixed number of 10 billion tokens, which are divided between presale, ecosystem growth, reserves, liquidity and team. At the current Phase 4 price of $0.005 per token, the presale has sold over 130 million OZ, raising about $1.85 million. The next phase will double the price to $0.01 and with a minimum contribution of $100, a $1,000 entry today could secure 200,000 tokens. If the token reaches its $1 target, that investment could grow to $200,000, exceeding the 100x benchmark in the title. Key token allocation: 30% Presale 30% Ecosystem & Community 20% Future Reserve 10% Liquidity & Listings 10% Team Youtube embed: Next 500X AI Altcoin Ethereum, Cardano, and the Ozak AI Difference Ethereum is the leading smart contract platform with over 16,000 developers, according to Electric Capital. It powers a wide range of decentralized finance, gaming and media projects. ETH token is trading at $4,718.68, which is up 0.76% in the last 24 hours. Cardano was launched in 2015 by Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson and follows a research driven development model and it uses the Haskell programming language and the Ouroboros proof-of-stake protocol to focus on security and scalability. With 449 active developers ADA is trading at $0.9688 up 9.82% in the last 24 hours. Experts say that Ethereum and Cardano have already achieved large-scale adoption, which often limits rapid percentage gains, while Ozak AI is at the early growth stage, where price multipliers can be much higher if adoption meets projections. Conclusion Ozak AI enters the blockchain space with a clear value proposition: fast, decentralized, AI-powered financial insights. Use of its phased presale model makes it rewarding to early participants in terms of easier entry and greater upside. While Ethereum and Cardano lead in developer numbers and ecosystem maturity, Ozak AI has a different growth profile, smaller market cap, specialized focus and a defined utility token model. For investors who act before the next price jump, the path from $1,000 to $100K is low initial cost, rising token demand and expanding real-world use.
