Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Tuesday launched the inter-State DTC bus service between Delhi and Baraut, Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Gupta said she has instructed the Transport Minister and DTC officials to ensure that bus service on new routes is launched every month.
“When I became the Chief Minister, I would always wonder why Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh buses are plying in the city, but no DTC bus goes to other States. The previous governments had stopped the inter-State bus service. They did not do anything to ensure more revenue,” she said.
The inter-State DTC bus service was suspended 15 years ago amid the transition from diesel to CNG and the lack of appropriate infrastructure in the neighbouring States.
New service
The DTC will run an air-conditioned bus on the 60-km-long Delhi-Baraut route with a minimum fare of ₹32 and a maximum fare of ₹125.
The bus will stop at Khajuri Khas, Bhajan Pura, Loni border, Mandolla, Khekra, Katha, Baghpat, Goripur, Saroorpur, and Tyodhi.
