Cowboys RB Makes Surprising Admission About George Pickens

In the 2025 NFL offseason, the Dallas Cowboys acquired wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it may prove to be the best move in all of football.

Since arriving, the fourth-year pro has established elite chemistry with fellow wideout CeeDee Lamb and veteran gunslinger Dak Prescott. While Dallas’ top-rated offense has surprised many, no one is more surprised than the players themselves in the room.

Pickens’ Teammate Offers Ultimate Praise After Elite Start in Dallas

Cowboys running back Javonte Williams is in his fifth NFL season and is on pace to rush for 1,000 yards for the first time in his career. The former North Carolina Tar Heel sat down with NFL insider Jordan Schultz, where the two discussed Dallas’ season thus far.

During their chat, Schultz asked Williams about his thoughts on his fellow playmakers in the Cowboys’ offense, to which the former Denver Bronco replied honestly.

“I knew how good CeeDee was, but GP [George Pickens], nah,” said Williams. “I knew he was good, but I didn’t know he was that good.”

The Cowboys RB1 goes on to describe the moment he truly understood Pickens’ capability.

“I seen him the first few days of training camp and I was like, ‘oh yeah, he finna be a problem,’” said Williams.

I asked #Cowboys RB Javonte Williams about Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens…

Loved everything about his answers.

On Pickens. “I knew he was good. I didn’t know he was THAT good.” 👀 https://t.co/D2a1slgLOW pic.twitter.com/HUgKK7WSa2

Next, Williams elaborates on the unique connection between Pickens and Lamb as Dallas’s primary pass catchers.

“I feel like they complement each other well,” said Williams. “Both of them make plays, so good luck to the defenses.”

Since Pickens is known for his abstract plays and occasional questionable decisions, Schultz asks the 25-year-old RB what it is like being on the field with the peculiar Pickens.

“You never know what you’re gonna get,” said Williams. “The same way y’all watching on TV, that’s us watching on the field, we know it’s gonna be a show.”

A show is precisely what Pickens has displayed in 2025, ranking amongst the league’s best receivers in several statistics.

Pickens Outperforming Expectations and Former Team’s Receivers

Using PFSN’s WR Impact metric, Pickens lands third to this point of the season with a 93.1 score and an A grade. The former Georgia Bulldog ranks second in the NFL in receiving yards (1,142) and third in receiving touchdowns (8).

While his stats are impressive on their own, comparing Pickens’ numbers to the Steelers’ core four receivers this season is blasphemy.

DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, and Ben Skowronek have combined for fewer yards (1,105) than Pickens alone.

Acquiring Pickens and a 2027 sixth from Pittsburgh for a 2026 third and 2027 fifth, did Jerry Jones and the Cowboys fleece the Steelers?
