Cristiano Ronaldo is considered one of the greatest Real Madrid players of all time owing to his staggering 450 goals in just 438 overall outings for Los Blancos. And, he formed a deep connection with former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos during his nine-year-long stint.
Cristiano Ronaldo Had Aimed Dig at Sergio Ramos
Earlier in 2023, Ronaldo and Ramos had engaged in a bit of friendly banter on social media. After the Spanish player had taken to Instagram to celebrate reaching 60 million followers, the Al-Nassr superstar had left a cheeky comment under his post.
Ronaldo, who played alongside Ramos at Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018, had written in his comment (via X/@MadridXtra), “You need another zero to catch me.”
Ramos, who currently has 67.4 million Instagram followers, had replied to Ronaldo, writing, “Don’t trust Chris… Specialist in comebacks. Minute 93 and those things hehehe.”
Ronaldo, who has over 669 million followers on the aforesaid social media platform, shared the pitch with Ramos 339 times at Real Madrid. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner helped the La Liga side lift 16 trophies, including four UEFA Champions League trophies.
So far this season, the 40-year-old has scored 11 goals in 13 total matches for Al-Nassr.
Ex-Premier League Striker Labels Ronaldo ‘A Machine’
Former West Ham United and Nottingham Forest striker Marlon Harewood has showered big praise on Ronaldo, asserting that the Portuguese was bound for greatness from the start.
“You could see it, when I was playing against him, what he was going on to because the numbers at United, you could see that if he went on from there, then he would be the person he’s become. The professionalism and how you watch him, what he does, to still be playing now at 40 years of age is phenomenal,” Harewood responded to GOAL when asked about Ronaldo’s first stint at Manchester United.

Harewood, who also represented clubs like Aston Villa and Newcastle United, added, “The numbers that he is doing still, what a player. You can see the dedication that he has. He takes it quite seriously in his fitness and what he does. He’s a machine. He’s one of those people that if you want to look at someone, say to your son, ‘Look at what he does and what he is capable of’.”
During his first spell at Manchester United between 2003 and 2009, Ronaldo registered 118 goals and 68 assists in 292 games across competitions, winning the Ballon d’Or in 2008.
