Darius Slay would have to clear waivers in order for this to happen, but there’s a chance!

After being a healthy scratch for the Steelers in Week 13, Pittsburgh announced that they were releasing the former Eagles CB, Darius Slay. Rumors quickly started swirling about the veteran Super Bowl winner returning to the Eagles, but John Clark of NBC Sports reported on Wednesday that there was mutual interest in a reunion.

When Bleeding Green Nation asked whether the Eagles should bring back Slay, nearly 82 percent of fans wanted to add the veteran back into the secondary. He may not have been that productive in Pittsburgh, but he’s familiar with Philadelphia’s defense and would add another option for the role Adoree’ Jackson, Jakorian Bennett, and Kelee Ringo continue to compete for.

Slay will need to clear waivers in order for this to work out. Even if the Eagles try to claim him off waivers, they would need over 20 other teams to pass on him first — including the Lions, who could use their own reunion with Slay.
