The diner chain Denny’s launched a new value platform this week, introducing meals with prices starting at $5, along with a limited-time fall menu available through October 28.
Why It Matters
As restaurants face higher costs and consumers reel in their spending, brands that can keep prices low or offer seasonal deals and new menu items to guests may benefit financially.
This boosts foot traffic, which in turn encourages consumers to spend more on other items, ultimately increasing revenue in the long run.
What To Know
Denny’s said the 5 Slams menu begins at $5 and that no dish on the value platform will be priced above $10.
The 5 Slams at $5 includes the New Grand Slam Burrito, New BLT&E Slamwich, New 2-Egg Breakfast Slam, Everyday Value Slam, and Super Slam.
This promotion lasts through October 28.
The new Grand Slam Burrito combines Applewood-smoked bacon, sausage crumbles, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and cheese in a flour tortilla and is served with salsa.
Meanwhile, the BLT&E Slamwich is made with four strips of crispy Applewood-smoked bacon, a cooked-to-order egg, crisp lettuce, and tomato, with a spread of mayonnaise on toasted sourdough. It also comes with crispy hash browns or fries.

Denny’s also reintroduced Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes for the fall and added other limited-time options such as a Bourbon Bacon Sirloin Dinner and a Chocolate Cinnamon Milkshake, according to the company release.
The company said those who join its new rewards program, Denny’s Rewards, will earn 10 Booth Bucks per dollar spent and could redeem accumulated Booth Bucks for free menu items and beverages. There’s also a welcome offer for new sign-ups available through the brand’s rewards page.
Denny’s operates more than 1,480 restaurants as of June.
What People Are Saying
Ellie Doty, Denny’s executive vice president and chief brand officer, said in a statement: “Our guests are looking for great value and great taste, especially during the busy fall season. With the return of our beloved pumpkin favorites, alongside our new 5 Slams Starting at $5 menu and other limited-time offerings, we’re serving up the perfect combination of seasonal flavor, smart savings and satisfying meals.”
Alex Beene, a financial literacy instructor for the University of Tennessee at Martin, told Newsweek: “Denny’s, like many other restaurant chains, are encountering an economic atmosphere in which many Americans are opting to stay at home and save money instead of dining out. The introduction of new $5 meal deals is in-line with comparable retailers that are looking to grab the attention of customers who have been avoiding eating out due to the higher prices.”
Beene added: “The strategy of discounted menu options has worked for chains like McDonald’s, and that success has clearly influenced other companies to push similar tactics in the hopes it will generate more foot traffic and, more importantly, more sales.”
What Happens Next
The $5 Slams value menu and the limited-time fall items will be offered through October 28.
