Depot After Dark: Cowher’s Gameday Monologue, Bengals Place Stewart On IR, Jon Gruden With Will Howard

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for Nov. 15.

BILL COWHER’S COLLEGE GAMEDAY MONOLOGUE

With ESPN’s College Gameday on the North Shore outside of Acrisure Stadium, it was all about the city of Pittsburgh throughout the show. With Pittsburgh native Pat McAfee headlining the show, who better to have come in and tell viewers just what football means to the Steel City than other one of their own?

That would be Steelers Hall of Fame head coach and Crafton native Bill Cowher.

In a powerful monologue to open the show, Cowher spoke glowingly of what football means to the region, from Friday nights at the high school level, to Saturdays with the Pitt Panthers, and then Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And as Cowher said at the end: “Pittsburgh’s not just a football town. It’s THE football town.”

BENGALS PLACE ROOKIE ON IR

It’s been a really rough season for Cincinnati Bengals rookie defensive end Shemar Stewart. It’s getting worse too.

The Bengals, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, have placed Stewart, the No. 17 overall pick in the 2025 draft, on the Reserve/Injured list with a knee injury.

Bengals DE Shemar Stewart is going on injured reserve because of a knee injury, per sources.

Stewart has yet to record a sack this season and had just six total tackles, playing just 177 defensive snaps. He had already been ruled out for Sunday’s Week 11 matchup against the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium, and will now be out the next four weeks, too.

JON GRUDEN WITH WILL HOWARD

Throughout the pre-draft process, former NFL head coach and current Barstool analyst Jon Gruden raved about Ohio State’s Will Howard. After Howard landed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Gruden continued to double down on Howard’s NFL outlook.

That continued Friday during an appearance on 93.7 The Fan, Gruden stating that he believes Howard will be a good NFL quarterback.

Gruden was in town for the Pitt-Notre Dame game at Acrisure Stadium, and of course he ran into Howard on the sideline.

The two have a strong relationship dating back to the pre-draft process and Howard’s appearance on Gruden’s QB Class segment. Howard probably won’t see the field this season unless something goes very wrong for the Steelers, but that hasn’t stopped the hype train so far.

Gruden might be the leader of that hype train.
