Depot After Dark: Samuel Thankful, Browns Sign DL, Steelers Community Spotlight

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for Dec. 2.

SAMUEL THANKFUL

The Steelers’ defense hasn’t been up to snuff this season. The Buffalo Bills kicked it around last Sunday. That forced the team to consider making changes. Those changes included waiving Darius Slay and signing Asante Samuel Jr. to the active roster. The Steelers added Samuel to their practice squad a few weeks ago, and now, he’s on their official roster.

Samuel is happy about that promotion, too. He took to Instagram to express his gratitude. That’s also likely because he suited up for the Steelers this past week. It was Samuel’s first game back after suffering an injury in Week 4 last year. Hopefully, he helps boost the Steelers’ defense.

BROWNS SIGN DL

The AFC North hasn’t been as good this season as it usually is. The Steelers have serious issues, as do the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals. However, one thing that isn’t new is the Cleveland Browns being in last place in the division. They’ve had a rough season, and they just lost defensive lineman Maliek Collins for the rest of the year.

The Browns added another defensive lineman to their roster to help offset that loss. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport shared on Twitter that the Browns have signed Sam Kamara to their 53-man roster. He had previously been on the Browns’ practice squad. Kamara entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2021, and he’s been with the Browns since 2022. Now, he’ll be asked to step up.

The #Browns are signing DL Sam Kamara to the active roster, per his agents Zac Hiller and Matt Leist of @LAASportsEnt. Kamara was elevated from the practice squad for Sunday, now signed.

STEELERS COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

The Steelers didn’t have a good time in Week 13. Although they kept the game against the Buffalo Bills close in the first half, they ultimately got blown out. It wasn’t the result they were looking for, and that’s dropped them to 6-6. Even though the Steelers lost, the day still might’ve been special for some fans.

Steelers Community Relations shared that the team took time during its game against the Bills to recognize Jubilee Kitchen, an organization that has worked to improve people’s lives for 45 years. It’s an example of the Steelers’ Community Spotlight Program. Despite the team’s poor performance, it’s nice to see them taking time during the holiday season to praise a good cause.

During today’s game, we featured the work of Jubilee Kitchen through our Community Spotlight Program.
