Depot After Dark: Vince Williams Still Believes, Sherman Claps Back At Pickens, Deshaun Watson’s Future

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for Dec. 6.

VINCE WILLIAMS STILL BELIEVES

It’s not easy to find a Steelers fan that still believes in the team this season, especially after back-to-back ugly losses. That doesn’t phase former Steelers ILB Vince Williams, who seems to be an eternal optimist.

“We are going to win out and shock the world,” he wrote on X.

That certainly would be shocking.

We are going to win out and shock the world!

SHERMAN CLAPS BACK AT PICKENS

In case you missed the drama, George Pickens lacked effort (what’s new) on Thursday Night Football. Richard Sherman spoke ill of his effort on the Amazon broadcast. Pickens clapped back with a bizarre Instagram story that he quickly deleted (again, what’s new). That leads us to the latest chapter in the saga. Sherman responded on X.

“Kid hasn’t done enough to merit a response from me,” Sherman wrote, as he was literally responding to Pickens.

Lol kid hasn’t done enough to merit a response from me. I was working on my 3rd consecutive 1st team All pro and 2nd SB appearance at the same point in my career. Lol I made an ALL-Pro team and SB in SF but that’s the fall off for me. https://t.co/r0u3yAPoBR

Prime Sherman versus prime Pickens would be a heck of a matchup to watch. Too bad this is the closest we’ll ever get.

DESHAUN WATSON’S FUTURE

It’s easy to forget that Deshaun Watson is even on the Cleveland Browns roster, or that they traded the farm and gave him the largest guaranteed contract in league history at the time in March of 2022. That’s because he’s barely played for them through four seasons. He’s only played in 19 games for the Browns, including zero this year. But according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, that may change.

Watson’s 21-day practice window was recently opened. While he isn’t expected to start this season at all, there is reportedly a good chance he is there in 2026 with a chance to start.

That would be great news for the Steelers, who need some draft competition for quarterbacks thinned out ahead of them in the pick order.

KYLER MURRAY’S FUTURE

The Steelers will most likely be drafting a quarterback in the first round. I can’t imagine them going the veteran QB route again after the failed experiments of Mitch Trubisky, Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and Aaron Rodgers. But if all else fails, perhaps there could be a younger veteran QB worth giving a look.

Jeremy Fowler reports that Kyler Murray is unlikely to return to the Cardinals next season.

“He won’t play agains this year. That brings up some future implications for his future,” Fowler said on Sports Center this morning. “People  around the league and with the team do acknowledge there’s probably a business element going on here because he’s due nearly $37 million in guaranteed money in 2026. So is this similar to Daniel Jones or Russell Wilson?

“There’s certainly a feeling right now in league circles that Kyler Murray could be in a new uniform next year.”

Let’s hope this doesn’t become a talking point, but we all know it will. Steelers fans are beginning to know the QB carousel game all too well.
