Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has sought a report on the alleged child marriage incident reported from Satabhaya village in Kendrapara district.

As per reports, Deputy CM Parida expressed concern over the matter while attending a state-level workshop on the prevention of atrocities committed on suspicion of witchcraft and child marriage, held in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

The Deputy Chief Minister said she has asked for a detailed report on the incident and assured that appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law once the report is received. She further stressed that while the government is committed to preventing such crimes, cooperation from society is equally essential to effectively curb these social evils.

“We are making Anganwadi workers and members of child welfare committees and child welfare agencies active to prevent child marriage. We have asked for a detailed report on the child marriage incident. Appropriate action will definitely be taken in accordance with the law once the report is received. While the government is committed to preventing such crimes, cooperation from society is equally essential,” said Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.
