“This sh*t was a big a** misunderstanding.”

Popular content creator and AMP member Duke Dennis finally broke his silence during a livestream on Sunday (Aug. 17), addressing his recent arrest and the emotional rollercoaster he’s endured over the past month.
Speaking candidly to his fans, Dennis opened up about both his brief detainment in Texas and the deeper personal struggles that led to his hiatus.
“I cannot cap, bro. I missed this house. I missed y’all. I missed everybody, bro. I missed my bed right here. I missed my setup. I missed I missed everything. That’s number one. I missed everything,” he shared at the top of the stream, visibly relieved to be home.

Dennis explained that while some assumed he was still behind bars due to his absence, the truth was more complicated. In addition to dealing with the fallout of his arrest, he was also grieving the loss of a close family member.
“I’m doing just fine. I’ve been gone, bro. I’m not going to lie, I had to take a break from all this. I had to take a break from streaming, doing YouTube, doing content. Had to take a break from social media, people, just life in general. I dead a** needed a break, bro. I couldn’t, bro. It was a lot going on, bro,” he reflected.
“Then my aunt passed away during July. Couldn’t even really process that because I had to go to the funeral and then immediately go back to streaming. And then as soon as I get back, soon as I get done streaming, the sh*t happened. I go to jail… over some dumb stupid, bro. I needed a break, bro.”

As for the arrest itself, Dennis remained limited in what he could share but made it clear that the situation was not as dramatic as some headlines made it seem.
“To be honest, I can’t even talk about it. Like what I can say is like the whole thing was just a big misunderstanding. Miscommunication mostly. I’m going go ahead and keep it a ban, bro. Jail isn’t a place that I would wish on anybody.”
He continued, “The thing about me, bro, I’m not the type of content creator that’s going to like risk my freedom for the content. Content ain’t that deep for me… Like I said, this sh*t was a big a** misunderstanding. Big a** miscommunication.”
During his break, Dennis said he took time to rest and unplug — even indulging in some much-needed escapism.
“I went on vacation and I and I played Pokemon the whole time, bro. The only reason why I posted a TikTok cuz people thought I was in jail the whole time. That’s the only reason why I posted on my TikTok just to show people that I wasn’t there no more.”

The renowned streamer was reportedly arrested in San Antonio, Texas, earlier this month and charged with criminal trespassing and evading arrest.
While details remain scarce, for now, Dennis is focused on moving forward, reconnecting with his community, and keeping his freedom — and peace of mind — a top priority.
