Eagles WR carted to locker room in first preseason game

Unfortunate news for the young WR who has had a nice camp.

Just before halftime in the Eagles first preseason game of the season, wide receiver Elijah Cooks went into the blue medical tent after a kick return. It appeared to be a shoulder injury, and after being checked out, Cooks ended up being carted into the locker room.

The WR hadn’t had his chance to contribute on offense before being sidelined, but he’s someone who was getting quite a bit of attention in training camp.

“Cooks has undeniably been the Eagles’ fourth best receiver in camp. He had a really impressive two-play sequence near the end of today’s practice. 1) He caught a pass on a slant and then immediately cut back to (metaphorically) break Eli Ricks’ ankles and accelerate to the end zone for a touchdown. 2) He then beat Mac McWilliams on a quick slant for a successful two-point conversion. Cooks is making a strong case to be on the roster.”

Hopefully it isn’t something serious for the young receiver, and he’ll be able to find a role either on the Eagles’ roster or practice squad.
