Former World No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard recently pointed to a bizarre yet heartfelt incident to illustrate her idea of true love. The Canadian highlighted the story of Braydon Dewey, who was reportedly so overwhelmed while proposing that his body momentarily gave out on him. Notably, her reaction came just a day after she weighed in on Norwegian Olympian Sturla Holm Lægreid’s cheating confession.
Eugenie Bouchard Highlights Her Definition of Love After Reacting to Olympic Medalist’s Cheating Admission
Lægreid sent shockwaves a few days ago shortly after winning a bronze medal at the ongoing Winter Olympics at Milan-Cortina, admitting on live television that he cheated on his girlfriend, revealing that he had an affair with someone else three months ago.
“There’s someone I wanted to share it with who might not be watching. Six months ago I met the love of my life – the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. Three months ago I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her,” he told this to NRK.
The Norwegian later clarified why he made the admission publicly.
“I made the choice to tell the world what I did so maybe there’s a chance she will see what she really means to me, maybe not, but I don’t want to think I didn’t try everything to get her back,” he said.
Following Lægreid’s admission, Bouchard shared her reaction on social media, expressing surprise at the situation and questioning whether his girlfriend would choose to forgive him.
“The big question re the Olympian who confessed to cheating on his gf… IS SHE TAKING HIM BACK???” She asked on X.
In the aftermath of the episode, the former Canadian star highlighted another unusual yet touching moment to make her point. A 22-year-old man, Braydon Dewey, went down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend, Destiny Fajen, at Halfmoon Town Park in New York, surrounded by her family.
Although Fajen said yes, Dewey was so overwhelmed with nerves that he immediately turned away and rushed to a nearby bush, where he threw up. Bouchard later reposted Pubity’s Instagram post about the incident on her own story, adding her reaction alongside it. “If he doesn’t do this, he doesn’t love you,” she wrote.
Though no longer competing on the WTA Tour, Eugenie Bouchard remains active in pickleball. The 2014 Wimbledon finalist started her new chapter in Jan. 2024 on the Professional Pickleball Association Tour and is now set to feature in the upcoming Pickleball Slam 4 exhibition event.
