The race for Eugenio Suárez continues heading into the final hours before the trade deadline, and teams are starting to separate themselves from the others with their level of interest.
According to MLB insider Mark Feinsand, the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers are among the teams pushing the hardest for the veteran infielder.

“The market for Eugenio Suárez is beginning to shape up with less than 30 hours until the Trade Deadline,” Feinsand wrote on X. “Per sources, the Mariners, Cubs, Tigers and Phillies are considered the primary teams in the race for the All-Star third baseman.”
All of these teams being in the race for Suárez isn’t surprising. The Cubs have gotten inconsistent performances from Matt Shaw, Alec Bohm has been a disappointment for the Phillies, and the Tigers could certainly use an upgrade at the hot corner over Zach McKinstry.
Suárez, despite being a rental, is going to require one of these teams to cough up a lot in the way of prospects. Hitters with his level of raw power and bat-to-ball skills aren’t on the trade block very often.
All three of these teams have a lot to work with in terms of the package that could go back to Arizona if a deal is reached. The Diamondbacks know they can play hardball when it comes to their negotiations and work to get the best return possible. The Phillies could even look to include Bohm as part of their package if they can lock down Suárez beyond the rest of this year.
