FIM ISDE Day 2 Overview: Josep Garcia Dominates Italy | Team USA Women Lead Big!

Words By Kyle Wolfe

The second day of special test racing at the 2025 International Six Days of Enduro could only be described as dominating, as the four-time defending ISDE champion, and current scratch leader Josep Garcia, swept Day 2, winning every special test on Italian soil.

In overall scratch, the Spaniard was in full control of Monday’s race action, claiming the Day 2 victory, increasing his lead by over eleven seconds over his long-time rival, Italy’s Andréa Verona. Nearly thirty seconds behind the Italian was the top Junior rider for the afternoon, Australia’s Kyron Bacon, riding a big bore Kawasaki 300 four stroke with Athena kit. Bacon was never lower than seventh in any of the special tests for today. Rounding out fourth and fifth for the day were fellow Italian Trophy riders Samuéle Bernadini and Morgan Lesiardo.

World Trophy Team

Top American honors for Day 2 would go to Grant Davis. With the help of a third place in Test 2 of the morning in Gandosso, the Pennsylvania rider claimed sixth overall for the day, and second Junior behind Bacon. Danté Oliveira would claim ninth scratch for Monday’s racing, a fifth-place finish in the final test in Zandobbio helping cement that position. Johnny Girroir, riding with a slightly injured hand, would take a top ten finish in the opening test of the day at the “gravel pit” test, but would struggle the rest of the afternoon, ultimately ending up twenty-second at day’s end. Cody Barnes on his Honda wasn’t happy with his performance on Day 2, ending the race action in twenty-ninth overall. After a rough first test to start the morning, Mateo Oliveira put in consistent finishes the rest of the afternoon, ending the day in thirty-fifth. Josh Toth, dealing with a sore leg after a Day 1 crash, finished Day 2 in thirty-ninth. Cooper Jones would cap off the American men’s Trophy finishes with a forty-second place finish.

After two days of racing, the World Trophy standings have a new leader, as Italy takes over the top spot, with nearly a two minute lead over defending champion France. Sweden picked up the pace with their quartet on Day 2, extending their advantage over the fourth-place nation, Australia. The United States rounds out the top five, twelve seconds behind the Aussies, and over two minutes out of podium contention.

Junior World Trophy

In the Junior World Trophy classification, the Italians are still out front, holding onto their lead from Day 1. They now carry a thirty-six-second advantage over Australia, with France rounding out the podium, two minutes off the lead pace. The United States runs in fourth, just over a minute out of the third-place position. Spain rounds out the top five order, nearly two minutes behind U.S.A.

Women Trophy classification

In the Women Trophy classification, the ladies of the U.S.A. extended their lead out by a large margin on Day 2. After taking the Day 1 win by nearly seven minutes, the trio of Brandy Richards, Rachel Gutish, and Korie Steede is showing why they were the heavy favorites coming into Italy, and leave Day 2 with over sixteen minutes advantage over new second-place riders of France. Forty-three seconds behind is Australia, after rookie Madison Healey suffered a time penalty in the morning, and then buried her bike at Test 2 in Gandosso. After struggling for nearly five minutes, she finally got her bike out and carried on for the remainder of the day. Italy runs fourth on the back of EnduroGP points leader Francesca Nocera, nearly eight minutes behind the Aussies. Great Britain rounds out the top five with strong riding from Nieve Holmes, six minutes behind host nation Italy.
