Flight services resumed at Edinburgh Airport in Scotland on Friday after a technical issue in the Air Traffic Control (AT) provider’s IT system brought operations to a halt earlier in the morning.

“Flights have now resumed following the IT issue with our air traffic control provider. We thank passengers for their patience and understanding,” Edinburgh Airport said in a post on X.

The disruption began earlier in the day when the airport announced that no flights were operating due to computer problems affecting air traffic control, leading to passengers facing delays.

In its initial statement, the airport said operational teams were addressing the fault and aimed to resolve it “as soon as possible,” advised passengers to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.

“Due to an IT issue with our air traffic control provider, no flights are currently operating from Edinburgh Airport. Teams are working on the issue and will resolve as soon as possible. We will provide updates when possible – please contact your airline for the latest information on your flight,” the airport had earlier tweeted.

Earlier on November 7, more than 100 flights were delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after a technical glitch hit the ATC system, disrupting flight movements across North India for two days. Flight operations were severely impacted, resulting in congestion, as air traffic controllers manually handled departures and arrivals.

“Flight operations at Delhi Airport are experiencing delays due to a technical issue in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), which supports Air Traffic Control data. Controllers are processing flight plans manually, leading to some delays. Technical teams are working to restore the system at the earliest. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all passengers and stakeholders,” the Airport Authority of India (AAI) said in a statement.
