Former UFC title challenger books Noche return after losing undefeated record and suffering gruesome injury

Noche UFC has received another big matchup as two former title challengers book a rescheduled bout.

The event is sure to be overshadowed by Canelo Alvarez versus Terence Crawford, which Dana White is also promoting on the same night.

That doesn’t mean that it’s going to go completely under the radar though, even after a change of location and the fact that it’s now set to be a Fight Night card.

Diego Lopes facing Jean Silva in the main event looks to be an all-action featherweight headliner that is sure to close the show in style.

The likes of Brandon Moreno have also registered their interest in fighting on September 13 before a different high stakes clash was made official.

Tatiana Suarez set to face fellow former title challenger Amanda Lemos at Noche UFC

On September 13 in San Antonio, Texas, Tatiana Suarez will return to the Octagon for her first fight since losing her undefeated record.

She will face a fellow former title challenger in Amanda Lemos, with the UFC announcing the matchup on Wednesday.

Suarez lost four consecutive rounds in her first title fight against strawweight champion Zhang Weili earlier this year at UFC 312.

Injuries have played a huge role in her career, with many expecting the wrestling specialist to become a UFC champion at some stage, and this looked to be a concern once again following February 8.

Suarez shared updates on a grisly knee injury that she suffered in the fight but her planned return to the cage in September shows positive signs that her previous setbacks are finally behind her.

Lemos was also convincingly beaten by the former champion back at UFC 292, having gone 2-1 since then with a return to the win column earlier this year after beating Iasmin Lucindo at UFC 313.

Tatiana Suarez withdrew from a matchup with Amanda Lemos due to an injury last year

Even since making her long-awaited return to the Octagon in 2023, Tatiana Suarez’s career has still suffered several knocks due to injuries.

She was originally booked to face Amanda Lemos at UFC 298 in February of last year before withdrawing due to another knee setback.

While Suarez was beaten in dominant fashion last time out after being on the cusp of a title shot for such a long time, her returning for another bout this year is an incredibly important step.

If the 34-year-old can beat the #4-ranked Amanda Lemos, she’s right back in the mix, even if it will take some serious work for her to earn another shot at Zhang Weili.
