New England QB Peter Bourque Heats Up Georgia’s 2027 Recruiting Headlines

Georgia’s search for its 2027 quarterback just got more interesting with an offer extended to Peter Bourque, one of the most sought-after names in the upcoming class. Bourque, a four-star prospect from Massachusetts, holds the No. 90 spot nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings.

He also ranks as the No. 9 quarterback in the 2027 cycle and is the top overall player in his home state. In an interview with On3, Bourque made it clear that competition doesn’t scare him, even with Georgia already holding a commitment from 2026 five-star Jared Curtis.

“Not at all (Curtis doesn’t deter me),” Bourque said. “I haven’t had the chance to work out with Jared yet, but I have heard he is awesome. To play at the schools I am considering you have to embrace competition. Nothing is going to be given. I want to play at a school where there is the best QB room and one that is super competitive. Those situations always bring out the best in me. To me, competition and development are a must if I am going to reach my potential.”

Bourque has earned 26 scholarship offers to date, but early projections suggest Georgia is not currently in the lead. A crystal ball prediction has already been logged in favor of Penn State, indicating the Nittany Lions hold the edge. With Penn State located close to Bourque’s hometown, the Bulldogs will have to make up ground to gain serious traction.

This offer to Bourque appears to follow developments with another top 2027 target, Teddy Jarrard, who is expected to commit Thursday. All signs point to Jarrard choosing Notre Dame, potentially prompting Georgia’s staff to shift their focus toward Bourque.

While Bourque has not yet provided a timeline for his decision, Georgia still has time to make an impression. That window, however, could close quickly given Penn State’s momentum.

Elsewhere in Georgia’s recruiting efforts, four-star linebacker Nick Abrams committed to the Bulldogs on Wednesday, selecting them over Oregon, Michigan, and Alabama. His decision came just one day after five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson chose Texas, softening that loss for Georgia.

In 2026 news, quarterback Jared Curtis dropped to No. 4 at his position in the latest 247Sports rankings, although he remains No. 1 in the composite rankings. Meanwhile, five-star running back Derrek Cooper is now trending toward Texas, with a decision expected July 20.
