Milwaukee Bucks star power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has been searching for his second NBA championship ever since he got his hands on the first one in a historic run with the Bucks during the 2020-21 season. Since then the team has been struggling to find decisive playoff victories that could elevate them to contend for another NBA title.
For the time being, the Bucks are focused on starting their season strong, as Antetokounmpo has a revamped roster around him to work with throughout the season. Ahead of the new campaign, the Greek forward’s 13th season with the Bucks, he didn’t hold back from making bold claims for the playoffs and the regular season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Was Hyped Up While Staking Bold Claims With the Bucks in the Upcoming Campaign
Antetokounmpo is geared up to kick-start the 2025-26 NBA season with the Bucks, especially when on the opening night he will get to meet his former teammate Khris Middleton, who is currently on the Washington Wizards roster. The Greek star didn’t hold back from staking bold claims with his team ahead of the opening night.
Antetokounmpo said, “We’re not the favorites, but we’re going to be a problem. We’re going to be dangerous. The team is set up in a way that is very, very dangerous. We have a lot of shooting. We have a lot of playmakers and ball-handlers. We have a lot of defenders.”
He added, “We can switch. We have an incredible big that can space the floor and be a problem defensively. We are set up exactly how you need to set up to make a statement. After that, get to the playoffs. Be in the playoffs and try to win a playoff series.”
With many trade talk rumors looming around in the league regarding the 30-year-old, the upcoming campaign will be very crucial for the Bucks since Antetokounmpo has already voiced his aspiration of winning more NBA titles and writing his name in the upper echelons with some of the greats of the league.
Antetokounmpo Is Happy To Be Facing His Former Teammate on Opening Night
Reflecting on facing Middleton and the Wizards on opening night at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday night, Antetokounmpo said that he was elated to be going up against his brother and former teammate, Middleton. The duo was instrumental during the Bucks’ dreamy run towards the NBA championship in 2021.

After the opening night at home, the Bucks will hit the road to play against the Raptors at Scotiabank Arena on Friday and then the Cavaliers at Rocket Arena on Sunday.
