Guilty Gear Strives Tops a Once Unthinkable 3.5 Million Players

Still my heart is blazing

Guilty Gear Strive has now surpassed 3.5 million players since its launch in 2021.

Given the series’ obscure and incredibly niche roots, that’s a seriously impressive figure. Strive has been an immense success for Arc System Works — and truth be told, it’s probably surpassed the company’s wildest expectations.

This time two years ago, Strive hit 2.5 million players — so it’s clearly managed to keep ticking along since then. The recently released Nintendo Switch port will have certainly helped as well.

Granted, Strive has struggled to win over some of Guilty Gear’s hardcore oldheads, but there’s no denying that it’s struck a chord with a much wider audience. Even the competitive scene remains strong as the game looks towards its fifth year on the market.

And of course, the developer’s just confirmed that support for Strive will continue into 2026. Version 2.00 is dropping next year alongside even more additional characters.

Still, we’re left wondering what the future of Guilty Gear looks like. At this point, the next game’s going to have big shoes to fill, and it’ll be very interesting to see what kind of direction it takes.

Are you a big Guilty Gear fan? What do you make of Strive’s success? Don’t drop that combo in the comments section below.

A little too much, some might say.
