Half-time stats – Crows v Pies

HT: Adelaide 6.3 (39) to Collingwood 5.4 (34)

The Crows have wrestled back the lead in the final minute of the second term after a stunning turnaround.

The Pies dominated the first term and then the Crows dominated the second and will take a five-point edge into the second half.

The Magpies can’t afford to make some of the unforced errors they did in that second term.

‘Soft as butter’: Lyon

Izak Rankine has put the Crows in front after drawing a free kick on Isaac Quaynor in the forward pocket.

Rankine went down so softy, even Garry Lyon on Fox Footy was fuming it was paid.

“Soft as butter is what that is,” Lyon said during commentary.

Rankine didn’t care, he kicked the goal and fair play to him.

Foolish 50m gifts goal to Walker

Pies coach Craig McRae will be fuming after Dan Houston appeared to knock the ball from the hands of Walker as he prepared to kick from 50m out.

Walker milked it but Houston was standing where he shouldn’t be.

The 50m penalty was called and Walker booted it home from line.

Curtain has crowd roaring

The Crows have gone whoosh and ran through the Pies yet again.

They sent a chaos ball into the forward line and it was passed between three players, including Walker, before Daniel Curtain ran into an open goal.

Adelaide Oval is roaring.

Here come the Crows

Taylor Walker has pulled in a strong mark and kicked his first goal of the night and that goal was created by Mark Keane putting his body on the line in defence and forcing a turnover, then Mitch Hinge ran it forward.

The Crows look a different side.

Rain arrives in Adelaide

Fogarty has just booted his second goal and heavy rain has arrived at Adelaide Oval as expected.

The city had a 90 per cent chance of rain tonight and the BOM radar shows a heavy band of rain moving east across the state tonight.

So it could get very wet.

Errors killing the Crows

By Steve Barrett

Collingwood have Adelaide pinned firmly on the ropes, marching to a whopping 25-point quarter-time lead.

The Magpies deserve their hefty advantage, the highly-anticipated first-versus-third blockbuster at Adelaide Oval played squarely in the visitors’ front half.

Collingwood have a decisive 24-6 edge in inside-50 entries, a supremacy largely owed to their 10-0 edge in tackles inside-50s.

The Pies’ cream has risen to the top, with Scott Pendlebury (11 disposals) and Nick Daicos (10) the two top ball-winners on the ground.

The Crows have been error-riddled and glued inside their defensive zone without any obvious exit options.

They need a massive lift if they are to keep their winning streak intact.

Quarter time stats – Crows v Pies

QT: Collingwood 5.3 (33) to Adelaide 1.2 (8)

Darcy Cameron was awarded a 50m penalty and booted a goal after the siren to extend Collingwood’s lead to 25 points at the first change.

The Crows have had no answers for the Pies when it comes to ball movement and passing into the forward line.

They need answers and need them now. Scott Pendlebury and Tim Membrey are among a stack of Magpies starring in this match.
