Henry Cejudo plots surprising new career after ending legendary run for good at UFC 323

Henry Cejudo is settling into truly retired life after finally ending his legendary career last Saturday in Las Vegas.

The former two-weight UFC champion is one of the greatest combat athletes of all time, winning Olympic gold at the 2008 games before transitioning to MMA. He famously ended Demetrious Johnson’s reign as flyweight champion and moved up to bantamweight to earn a second belt simultaneously.

Cejudo is one of the few fighters to have become two-weight champion and defended both titles. And he admits that had he stayed retired after his initial run in 2020, he would likely be considered the greatest of all time.

Henry Cejudo will become children’s author after retiring from UFC

After hanging up his gloves in an emotional post-fight ceremony at UFC 323, Henry Cejudo has already begun to enjoy his retired life. He is currently in Dubai for the IBA Mens Elite World Championships, where he caught up with Bloody Elbow for one of his first interviews since retiring.

He is already plotting what’s next; work on a children’s book that will tell not only his story but those of other combat icons. “I’m starting a children’s book and I want to help out a bunch of legends,” he explained.

“I have a rolodex full of legends that I want to help to start teaching them, like, business. I want to tell real stories, because I have kids and I know the importance of inspiring kids while telling stories that are the truth.

“Little Henry was a small kid, bring the whole height into the conversation. What I want to do is bring a load of different athletes to be able to tell their story so they become the author and they’re able to tell a real story.

“Kids are going to be reading real s—, not just ‘little Timmy fell and got a boo boo’. This is going to be some hard stuff that hopefully can inspire a lot of kids.”
