The Buffalo Bills are on the road to face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in their Week 2 preseason matchup. Ben Johnson’s education of Caleb Williams continues, while the Bills will likely play most of their backups and players who are fighting for roster spots.
Meanwhile, the Bills got some great news when running back James Cook signed a four-year, $48 million contract extension on Wednesday. The Bills enter the game 0-1 while the Bears are 0-0-1 after tying the Miami Dolphins 24-24.

When Is the Buffalo Bills vs. Chicago Bears Preseason Game?
The Bears and Bills participated in a joint practice on Friday, and ahead of it, Bears head coach Johnson clarified that starters would be playing against the Bills. Johnson said Williams and the other starters sat out the first preseason game to get more reps in practice rather than seeing limited reps in a preseason game.
The Bills are dealing with injuries in their receiver room. Khalil Shakir (high ankle sprain), Curtis Samuel (hamstring), and Tyrell Shavers (ankle) are all nursing nagging injuries, putting their status in question. However, Keon Coleman has been taking advantage of the extra reps and looking good in practice.
- Date: Sunday, August 17
- Kickoff Time: 8 p.m. ET
- Location: Soldier Field
The Bears and Bills conducted a joint practice on Friday. Both teams were physically intense, but Bills head coach Sean McDermott was displeased with his team’s mistakes on both sides of the ball. However, he was non-committal about whether or not Allen would play on Sunday.
The #Bills and #Bears staged a joint practice on Friday. In my observations:
▶️ Keon Coleman continues to level up
▶️ Greg Rousseau dominates
▶️ Joey Bosa flashing
